Lisa, I bought a print of this a couple years ago as a thank you for teaching me so much about painting. I love, love, love this painting, and many guests love it too. Keep up the great work!
Gorgeous work... wonderful snowy owl and fantastic blues of the background. I plan to buy a canvas print to go with a gemstone blue globe and a blue and white Ming style lamp. You're extremely talented and hard working. God bless you, Lisa.
This really is a beautiful piece of work. The lighting is extraordinary. The soft light at the ends of the wings against that soft focus brilliant blue background is really amazing. Much respect.
Yes! An answer to prayer. Backgrounds in colored pencil! I can't tell you how difficult it is (for me, at least) to find tutorials on backgrounds. Thanks, Lisa. BTW--last but not least, gorgeous work, and love the music.
You are the most amazing artist I've ever seen. Wow. And it's not only your drawing and painting skills; it's also the way you present yourself. You are always so energetic, calm, and happy in your videos.
This is just beyond spectacular! The colors look so amazing in this, it's unreal. The subtle orange from the light shining through the feathers is complimented so well with the blue background. Definitely a favorite of mine.
Not only do I love this piece because I love your work in general, but this one is just so impressive. It doesn't just look life like but it also feels real, like a few pieces of snow falling from the branch are about to fall on my face!
You are, by far, the BEST artist I have seen on TH-cam. And you also do tutorials on how you get so amazing. You are literally a lifesaver for my art skills (which don't really exist yet)
Lisa, you are amazing. I cannot understand how you can take those wood sticks and produce such a fine piece of work. The end image has so much spark. I enjoy the warm and cool whites if the feathers. The complete work gives so much depth and warmth to the subject. Your work is always great, and you spend so much time doing everything else also. You are not a master with the pencils and paints, you have developed your skills on putting together your videos and web site. Your work there goes beyond the final results of those who 's work is only the work on videos and web sites. We all know how much time that you spend on all of these aspects and we appreciate everything. Thanks :) :). Have a Very Merry Christmas and holiday season.
Sorry, Lisa, I want to apologize for dropping the "ONLY" in the statement " You are not ____ a master with the pencils and paints". It is sometimes 'only' the little things that may get dropped that can totally change the meaning. "you are not ONLY a master with pencils and paints" is what the comment should have said. I know you knew what I intended, but I want to apologize to your followers if this was misunderstood because of my error. You are indeed a master, and that is a fact.
This is so amazing!! I love snowy owls so much. It's amazing how you used so much blue on the wings and snow yet it still looks white. I used to only use gray for the shadows on white objects, but I later realized that there are a lot more colors reflected, same as with skin. I hope I'm as good as you one day. Thank you so much for making these videos! You're no doubt my favorite artist, and you have been since I first found your channel several months ago :)
Beautiful. Years ago I saw how to paint small seashells or pebbles on the beach. He used a toothbrush and would use his thumb to spray small drops of white paint.
As with all your work.....amazing, one of my favourites! I'm starting to learn to draw as a distraction from full left sided CRPS.........I never did art at school past 12-13 yrs old & that was some 30 yrs ago. I would love a 1/4 of you talent Lisa. ♿x
u r gr8 !!!!! I love colored pencil art but u have made me a fan of colored pencils!!!!!! ur work it just unbelievable.....it's like watching an owl really ......oh and by the way nice music...love u n gr8 fan
Lachri Fine Art ha, not to to that kind of detail, I've always avoided using colour although attempted one recently with a tiger and Kingfisher, it's a totally new ballgame for me! Your videos are teaching me a lot though!
I am so glad you've put aside your airbrush for this one. I love airbrushing but that airbrushed look (generally speaking here) is soo dated. I would very much like to see you continue everything with the colored pencils. Bravo! This is just mind blowing spectacular and yes my eyes are 5 feet ahead of me on the floor. I am now typing this blind and if I'm careful I won't step.... never mined I've found one // Oh I'd like to mention that I was an airbrush artist and still have all my stuff not that it's important // Happy Holidays Lisa
Excellent job as usual. As you started with the branch you could already see the depth of field coming alive. I think you should do a Dru Blair animal airbrush course. You will do amazing in it.
You are so awesome! Thank you for the time you put into making these videos. I just signed up for patreon and I'm so excited to watch your real time videos!
Lynda Freeman Thank you so much for your support! Just to be clear, the patreon videos aren't actually real time, but they are MUCH slower than what you see here. Real time would end up being 10 hours in this case. I do have a real time 5 min long clip of me working on some of the chest feathers over on Facebook that you can see too :)
Oh my god i love discovering this channel, you make great choices and the backgroung music is really fitting the hole thing! Congratulations on you and your friend! I'll definitely check out his work :D
Fabulous as always and Adam NEEDS to hook up with Cory Chisel with Mile of Music in Appleton WIsconsin for 2021. Seriously. The venue is sooo much fun.
I'm going to be buying the Faber Carstell Poly pencils and wanted to know, what is it that you use when you smooth it out at the background after you used the pencils at 01:56 and at 02:34 ? cause if possible I want to buy that as well when i buy the other stuff :)
Amazing work! Do you know how to colour large areas of surface in colour pencil because I do a lot of colouring and I have an issue with backgrounds especially and I wondered if you have any techniques?
So, if you are planning on focusing on the blurry background look, do you think you could do one that looks like light shining through leaves? I would love to see the detail and lack of detail at the same time.
Eric Killius For this one I'm going to be using the background from this piece, but I'm sure I will do more in the future with light shining through the leaves :D
I admired your technique as well as your art. How I wish I can be as good as you..I have my ups and downs moment I struggle for inspiration. How do you handle it?
That SNOW OWL is absolutely B.U.TI.FUL!! I'll have to remember how you made that "out of focus" back ground... I have often struggled with that very idea in my past painting experiences. 🤔
Hi Lisa, I just wanted to say that your videos where that inspiring that I started painting again - after over 2 years. I love your videos (all of them) - You are fun to watch, very inspiring and I wonder if there is anything you can’t draw/paint. But I have one question about the paper you are using. Are you using a rougher or a smoother surface for your paintings? I started mine on a medium rough watercolor paper I and can’t get a smooth finish on the background. I’m trying to decide if it’s my skills, the paper or the pencils. Right now I’m using my Colorsoft pencils and I have no other ones to compare (my Luminance are on the way *smile*)
Morticia147 I am working on the hot pressed fabriano which is quite smooth, but not so slick as bristol vellum which doesn't take as many layers as well. Also, the coloursoft won't get great results no matter which paper you use from what I've found. Those are like working in an entirely different medium. You will LOVE your luminance!!
This is so beautiful!! I love it. What kind of subject would you recommend drawing for a first-timer in colored pencil? I've worked in black and white graphite for a long time, but never tackled color.
Kate Cowan I would recommend something simple to start with, like a single rose close up, or bowl of cherries etc. This way you can focus on getting the blending and shading down without worrying too much about your drawing being absolutely perfect. Starting with an animal or person can be overwhelming to start with :)
InfiniteArtx That is the technique I was talking about needing to perfect without burning the paper before I show you guys how to do it haha. I think I have it mastered so I will do a video on it soon :D
Tania Abrile while they can be used together on the same piece, they don't layer over each other well. When I have used them together for mixed media, I kept areas in just graphite so that portion was greyscale, and then the color areas were just colored pencil.
Really really Beautiful & I enjoyed the song , thank you so much ! It's funny , an Owl was singing right outside my window last night . & just yesterday I was wondering how they are doing now , I haven't heard them since last winter ..
Eric Meacham We get barn owls here. Sometimes we will go years without seeing or hearing one, then other years they are around all the time. They are really pretty! I just have to watch my dogs when they go outside, the apparently look like a meal to the owls!
We once went outside after reading a book on it , Sarah and I , we did what they did in the story & within a few moments an almost silent swoosh landed right near us . We were tapping a sugar maple . There was a full moon , it was brisk cold & we were quite certain one would arrive ... Never see one there before or again in 20 years
Lachri Fine Art ~ it was called , " Owl Moon " . I will have ask my daughter how old she was at the time .. What kind of dog do you have ? I like that joke with him
I've just fallen in love with this picture! I love your drawings and i wish i could do such awesome stuff too!^^ I like to do portraits and I can get 1 set of colored pencils for christmas. Which ones would you recommend me? Polychromos or Luminance?
Unmask Art Very cool! Can any thinner work? I'm assuming the Mona Lisa is a mineral spirit due to its low odor; I wonder if any solvent will do. I'll remember to use the sturdier paper for that purpose. Thanks.
I can't imagine a reason the thinner brand would make much of a difference, I use an odorless turpentine that I picked out randomly and it's works just fine.
Unmask Art I see. Thanks. I'll use what i have in storage. I remember trying bleach a while back (I know...I know...crazy experiment) with disastrous results. I checked your channel and love the Chevy Nova. Pretty cool!
Lisa, I bought a print of this a couple years ago as a thank you for teaching me so much about painting. I love, love, love this painting, and many guests love it too. Keep up the great work!
This is the most spectacular colored pencil drawing I've ever seen!! You are extremely talented!
Every time I need inspiration, I come to your page. Always beautiful work that’s mesmerizing.
Truly spectactular painting. The light! Awesome!

So beautiful piece and song🥰

Phenomenal artwork!
Thank you
Not only do I love this piece because I love your work in general, but this one is just so impressive. It doesn't just look life like but it also feels real, like a few pieces of snow falling from the branch are about to fall on my face!
TheCorySimpson haha, I had that "snow" ALL over my floor from my attempts to make that look happen :P
Probably my favourite piece of yours
from what iv seen so far
You are, by far, the BEST artist I have seen on TH-cam. And you also do tutorials on how you get so amazing. You are literally a lifesaver for my art skills (which don't really exist yet)

Beatiful paint, really impressed, just look like a picture... You're so amazing artist.

Yvette R.S. Thanks :)

Ashley Lynn Art The blues and purples actually make whites appear to be more white :D
Beautiful. Years ago I saw how to paint small seashells or pebbles on the beach. He used a toothbrush and would use his thumb to spray small drops of white paint.

TheTwistedGrizzly It's mona lisa odorless paint thinner :)
To get snow flakes sense you have inktense use your white color block, by wetting the block with your block and use the splatter method.
+Joseph Roth Inktense are waterbased so I would not put them over a wax or oil based pencil because of archival issues that can later come up :)
shut it
+this is amazing Tena u shut it
Awesome job! :D
EirromNat Thanks :D
Ugh!
This is just such an amazing piece to look at. These start-to-finish videos are always so engaging. And ~10 hours? Crazy. :o
Asterite100 Yeah, these take a LONG time :)
Wonderful
MAMMA MIAAA!!!
Amazing work! Do you know how to colour large areas of surface in colour pencil because I do a lot of colouring and I have an issue with backgrounds especially and I wondered if you have any techniques?
Wonderful painting as usual Lisa! :-) Have you made a video about your snow splattering technique yet? Definitely looks interesting.
Thanks. I look forward to it. I am working on a piece which has presented that problem. I'm not sure if what I have done is correct.
I admired your technique as well as your art. How I wish I can be as good as you..I have my ups and downs moment I struggle for inspiration. How do you handle it?

Love what you do
Mitchell Eisele Thanks :)
I really like the coulor blending that you do I can never really blaen
Every once in a while you sneak in a brush- are these water color pencils? I’ve only ever worked with Prismacolor pencils- what are you using?
Love your videos (and your art)! Do you freehand your sketches onto your canvas or do you project them?
Lisa does both, plus tracing and trace down
I love your voice ! And your art ! Lol
Bravo
I want to cross hatch or hatch. What kinds of matirials would I need?
Actually I had a question .......which all colors did you use for the feathers?
What kind of paper are you drawing on or are you on canvas?
Love

I've just fallen in love with this picture! I love your drawings and i wish i could do such awesome stuff too!^^
I like to do portraits and I can get 1 set of colored pencils for christmas. Which ones would you recommend me? Polychromos or Luminance?
Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Austria :)
SirBastelot For portraits I would go with the luminance because they are SO great for skin tones :)
Lachri Fine Art thank you very much! ^~^
youre amazing ^^ ! i hope ill be that good one day
What tips do you give for painting a black cat?
Ayshini Senadeera Use a good reference photo and pay attention to the highlights. Don't go solid black :)
How long did that take you in real time?
MrJBoogie771 4 days, not sure how many hours :)
Wow! Doesn't the paint thinner wrinkle the paper?
Use heavy paper, I use 90lb paper and it doesn't wrinkle at all. I just started using thinner recently.
Unmask Art Very cool! Can any thinner work? I'm assuming the Mona Lisa is a mineral spirit due to its low odor; I wonder if any solvent will do. I'll remember to use the sturdier paper for that purpose. Thanks.

Oh, thank you. I don't foresee much pyrography in the near future though. I have a high demand for a self portrait I've been reluctant to begin.
you are amazing
L.A.C.H.R.I....L.is.A C.loug.H --hope I spelled that right. So what does the R.I. stand for? :D just wondering.
Sorry, wrong. Part of Lisa's name and part of one of her sisters names. She explains it in a few videos.
Can you do a tutorial on how to color snow?
On my to do list! :D
Yay! Haha. :) I have a friend who wants me to do a fox in the snow for them and I'm having a hard time with using color for something that is "white".
FYI the song does not go with your work...but good art work
It goes perfectly.
