I wish I knew you was in Clifton Forge iam close to the C&O center I go there a lot, sounds strange, a NW man retired hanging out on the C&O.
For the mountain road I have a possible suggestion. Place some train track running from either end, build up the terrain so the rails are as flush as possible to the ground, maybe have a tunnel at both ends. This would be a good place for a motorized truck or pickup truck to run back and forth on a timer. Or even just an automated reversing trolly. Definitely interested in seeing how this mountain shapes up.

Thanks for this visit to Matt Pfahl's FABULOUS layout, Zach! Obviously, there's a lot more to do, but I know like yourself, it's full steam ahead! The ground cover and the forests are brilliantly laid out. It would easy to get lost trying to take in all there is to see.

Decided to skip it since I have this one.. but am going for the new 611 J they just announced! Excited to get that one! I have the old unshrouded J from them. Will be a good match to have I think.

Yow! That is one incredible layout, for sure. The operation is just first rate and your cinematography is spot on. I'm looking forward to your next update. It is tough this time of year, obviously, to get things done while the weather is good. I've been taking less time on mine, but I'm still tweaking things a bit, before the end of the summer, in preparation for the scenery and wiring. Keep up the great work. An excellent video, as always.

It really is!! We never did get to see those Alco’s run. But they put on one hell of a show/sound just sitting there idling! Super cool engine set for sure!

Zac, looking at the layout from your panning with the camera, it looks like you could put in a nice y turnoff & return back to outer loop on new layout.
Hey Zac, new layout coming along. Looking good. Do you have plans, & it's not too late, to connect to thee existing layout letting trains run entire room.
I use Lionel Fastrack for my 8’ by 24’. For me no power issues and likes are the command control switches along with the sensor track system. The command control switches are great for controlling block signals.
I have same model(if yours is mth) with over 3,000 scale miles owned it before dcs was out it's a beast
