Big Sur and Monterey makes all of my intel machens run hot even though they’re in idle mode. I used a device to test power consumption and they all showed an about 50% higher electricity draw from those machines. Apple needs to correct this - especially for the laptops because they also run hot and the battery no longer last so long. I downgraded them all to Catalina and everything is fine again. Clean install Big Sur and Monterey didn’t help.

With M1 and Big Sur,,m the two are designed t work together ... They keep saying this and performance, but that's not really their fault.... The hardware Big Sur runs on is the reason as well ,, or the "ONLY" reason.. lol
You'r never gonna match that on intel chips no matter what OS you have..
They just release the hardware (Mac M1) and Big Sur together, then they come back and say "its works faster". ... well. ya..... because it's on the m1.... I really think Apple actually thought with Big sur, some people would think it would run slower on an M1 ... I mean it boggles the mind what direction Apple were going with that saying.
In any case If an OS is 'optimised' for use with a new chip, that's all I need to hear... If you haven't got an M1, then that sends a message their'll be bottlenecks only the M1 can perform as good..

I have a MacBook pro 2.9 GHz late 2015 model. I had 12.4 and everything is wonderful. Updated my Mac then after it got done. The display was flickering, Or first there was a white transparent line in the display and it look like it got changed for ppl who are color blind. I researched stuff , then it started flickering , then it would go black every 2 seconds. Then i got a white screen , then went back to the 2 second black screen and now it's green with purple stripes. Can anyone help? The problem with the updates is that a lot of installed apps and programs, don't work with a few updates later on, oblige us to buy new ones with different interfaces, spending money that we shouldn't, wasting our time - how I do this now and that and etc etc. It's pure business for spending and spending money all over again.

This video was pretty useless. I've macs I never updated, and yet I never had any issue with bugs, spywaer or data loss. I've ones running at Snow Leopard, no issues My main os is Mojave, only a very few apps are incompatible, majority just works with the most recent version. There are also things like an OS being BF Ugly. Major reason not to upgrade.
Ask yourself these 2 questions: A) do I have a offline backup of my precious data? B) do I have what it needs to install software offline on a fresh computer, to access this data?
You probably say no to both. Than fix that first before wondering whether to update or not.

You may want to consider updating the title or tags of this video so that your helpful info on OS bugs can be searched. I started watching it for one reason, but found it very helpful to learn about the OS bugs. Often times when you have these problems, despite exahustive search attempts, you are left to think it's user error. An hour or two of digging later you find that ONE answer that fixes your problem. Even if it's been years sometimes Apple doesn't officially address it or provide the solution and simple fix like that Terminal command that you provided. Thanks Apple! I'm back to Monterey post Ventura upgrade and my fan app has indicated CPU hog issues with legit apps. Aside from the issues that get big enough to hit mainstream media and cause backlash, it's crazy how flawless these annual updates of Mac OS and Apple hardware have been! That was sarcasm. If Apple doesn't slow down the revenue decision making approach and tie up some of these loose ends they are one amazing and easy Linux distro away from a mass exodus. With their proprietary connections, certifications, and more recent loosening of standards on the privacy front I'd be happy to move on. However, my choices are limited unless I want to get next-level involved with my computer's apps, language and hardware.
