    They are prone to micro cracking which is in the bracket. When you expand the headphones, the stress over time on the brackets causes cracking. Many who own these are unaware, but upon close examination you will see those cracks.

    I own them.
    Pros: build quality, noise-blocking, doesn't bleed noise, fits any head size, foldable
    Cons: imbalanced / lacking in high's, nonmodular cable, clamp is a little too tight
    Verdict: Great for vocal-tracking. Good for those who have a headphones collection, but necessarily ideal as a daily-driver. EqualizerAPO can be useful for restoring the high's.

      I went from over-bright open wired earbuds to these and the wide response caught me off-guard. I can confirm a little boosting towards the high end helped - at least until I get used to the flatter response these have (compared to the buds which totally lack bottom end).

    Great review! Eries gave a very honest review of these headphones. I picked them up on sale at Sam Ash for $78 and that was a steal. What stands out to me most is the neutral-ish frequency response. A lot of other "studio headphones" tend to be more hyped in the high frequencies which adds (unnatural?) clarity, but can be fatiguing. These headphones would be great for someone working in audio OR a casual listener. They just sound "right." If I had to point out a negative it might be the all-plastic build... I do like the metal bits in the MDR-7506, but all in all --- the sound quality of these can't be beat for the price.

    omg ty for saying that the "cups" are replaceable, my new puppy chewed them up and i can see the material inside the cushion. thought i was going to have to buy new ones. i love these headphones to death the only downside of these for me is that i despise the damn cable, it always gets stuck on my chair therefore mme accidentally pulling hard on it when i stand up

      Also I found (after months!) that wearing the cable ‘forward’ stopped them from pulling out whilst playing
      For very big venues when I need the most isolation (to hear click & track) I do use headphones 👍

    I have several of the popular studio headphones, and these are the most flat sounding. They have the same flat response as my vintage AKG K240. My favorite phones in the under $200 range are the Beyer-Dynamic DT770 Pro, but they are slightly hyped in the 4-7k range. The HD280 Pro are flat and very true.

    Appreciate the review, but saying "it takes 64 ohms to power these" doesn't help your reputation as the technical guy reviewing these headphones. That is the nominal driver impedance, not the "power" required to drive the headphones. It would be better to point out that, having 64 ohm impedance, these headphones are technically "high impedance" (over 50 ohms) since low impedance headphones are usually in the 30 ohm range. Although, the impedance is low enough for them to function okay with a mobile device, their relatively high impedance will drain a phone's battery more quickly and generally produce lower volumes than a low impedance headphone. It might be better to point out the "sensitivity" of the headphones which indicates how loud they are with a given standard input. And the HD 280 Pros are pretty good in that respect with a sensitivity rating of about 113 dB. These headphone are really designed for home and studio use, not for a mobile phone.

    Those Headphones are SOOO god damn tight.... Why are the best speakers plastic and cheap looking? i used to have speakers that looked and sounded amazing, but they were in a wooden box, check them out, can you ? and tell me if they were actually any good, they were the speakers that came with the Tecnics SCEH-750 stack, had something called a "Super Woofer", which is just a fancy nae for a Sub i'm sure. but boy oh boy were these things crystal clear at very high volumes!

      They're ideal for recording/mastering and general studio use, it's what they're designed for - very clean, accurate sound across the full frequency range. Excellent for blocking out ambient noise as is mentioned in the video also. I wouldn't be put off by the non-detachable cable, it was never an issue for me personally and I owned a pair for just short of four years, they're very well made. If you decide to invest in a pair let me know what you think!

    Great review without going into unboxing crap. I'm trying to decide between these and the classic Sony MDR-V6. Mostly concerned with having a flat response and being comfortable. At lot of headphone headbands cause pressure on top of the head and can get quite painful over a session. Any clamping issues can be easily remedied by stretching. By the way....a lot of foam in that studio. Where are the bass traps? Foam is NOT good for acoustic treatment. Peace.

    "The HD 280s are great for mixing". What now? For tracking yes. For mixing, most producers use studio monitor speakers and open back headphones. It's possible to mix on closed back headphones, but they are not the first choice.

  • @anonymike8280
    @anonymike8280 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The reviews say the Sennheiser HD 280 Pros are tight and heavy and they are tight and heavy. The sound was great but what I wanted was phones I could use for practice on my digital keyboard so I would not bother the neighbors. Dealing with the discomfort of headphones is something that apparently comes with doing mixing and studio work. I decided to get earphones and they are very nice. Surprisingly, my dollar store earbuds worked with the digital keyboard but the earphones I got are very good for my purpose.
    As reported, the Sennheisers do drive the bass. That was not a good thing for my purpose, which was simply to reproduce the piano sound samples programmed into the keyboard. As always, consider what you are trying to accomplish before you spend your money.
