    Could you tell if I wanted to make a pattern to cast a cylinder head for a tractor engine, it has tapered sides where the injectors go in. Sort of like where the spark plugs go in the side of 6 cyl gas motor. Would these be molded using cores.

    I worked in an aluminum and magnesium foundry back in 1960s. The patterns were very very complicated for large helicopter gear housing, jet aircraft canopy frames, other gear housings and even down to profession catches mask. I think of all the work that went into making the patterns and core patterns. Wonder how many could now be made faster with CNC machines carving them out?

    I'm surprised the foundry didn't want a full box. Most foundries seem to rather spend pattern time rather than foundry time. Your last operation, looks like you need a spoke shave😉. The pattern is looking good.
