    This is always my favorite Hodinkee video of the year! It’s so cool to see the variety of types and price points of watches that Hodinkee staff are wearing.
    This year for me, it was my DateJust 126200, which my wife gifted me for our 15th anniversary this February.

    The watch I wore most was my JLC reverso medium. Bought it at the end of 2020 when my daughter was born. Engraved with her name and DOB. Worn it pretty much ever since. Still get goosebumps when I flip the case to see her name 😀
    Love this hodinkee segment and hearing all about other people and their watches.

    Loved seeing the Longines 5-star admiral on the list because it was my most worn watch of this year as well(mine is the ufo/lug-less case)! Found it in my grandfather's model-airplane toolbox, and it began ticking right away on my wrist. I didn't want to take it off, and it really has started my love of vintage watches.

    Love my 124270. Rolex put so much thought into the design of this model. 36mm is the classic, gentleman size. Wears fantastic, truly the most discreet of the Rolex sport models. The 19 to 14 taper is very cool , a bit vintage and everything allows the watch to disappear on the wrist if you need to wear under a cuff. The enhancement to the dial give the watch so much more pop over the previous 36 model. It’s not a watch everyone will appreciate, but the discerning will own a very special piece.

    Hodinkee has morphed or evolved out of all recognition, in the past couple of years:
    Crown & Caliber pre-owned business and Insurance.
    Hardly any of the original writers from a couple of years ago remain.
    I suspect, as I know one person here wears a Batman Rolex GMT 126710BLNR most of the time and has said it’s his ‘daily driver,’ that there is a bit of a Grand Seiko and also Seiko product placement going on.
    Like the recent ‘story’ Danny Milton did, ‘advising’ his friend who was peculiarly impecunious, despite having a well paid job, to get, a Seiko, at the same time they were being pushed by Teddy Balldessere on his channel.
    Ben has cashed his chips in from Hodinkee and moved on from New York and looks like a well dressed guru.

    • @thefallen924
      @thefallen924 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      what would you recommend to someone who isnt sure whether theyd actually enjoy a mechanical/automatic watch? obviously it would be something under $1k, as there is the possibility they wont enjoy it. And what is wrong with Seiko? There are people who clearly enjoy them over whatever it is you enjoy.

    • @Judah.Rosenthal
      @Judah.Rosenthal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thefallen924 I love Seiko too. Have a bunch. I also have Speedmasters, Rolex, etc. But you can’t beat an 80s turtle.
      As to Hodinkee changing? Yeah. All companies that grow change. And Ben has looked the same forever. Saw a little grey around the temples. But otherwise his “sweater-wear” appeared about the same to me.

    • @thefallen924
      @thefallen924 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Judah.Rosenthal agreed! first automatic i got myself was a seiko 5. have a great friend that gifted me an oris, and just a couple of weeks ago i got myself the speedmaster moonwatch. It's easy to see the jumps in quality at the different price points. I love the artistry and engineering that goes into different brands. I hope to be able to get a Rolex one day without paying a ridiculous inflated scalper price. at the same time, i find it more interesting when someone daily drives a grand seiko over a Batman GMT.
