- Honestly I don't know what's going on but I have had the BEST luck recently! Ahhh! Still can't believe it. I walked into my first-ever AP appointment at one of their US boutiques and walked out with a Royal Oak! My dream watch from my favorite watch brand!

Just so you can know, AP has all the watches in the back, by the dozens. They just act like they don't have it for the image of scarcity. All of these brands do. Even Hermes. I worked in luxury retail for years.
I definitley belive that AP physically has all the watches. But I doubt that every AP Boutique has a plethera of Royal oaks in the back.
Brands like Hermes and Cartier dont compare in terms of volume. I can get a Cartier Santos over the counter no problem. Rolex usually months if you can get on a list. She got very lucky.
@@kentbibby8027 I worked for AP for three years. Don't be fooled. This whole idea of scarcity started with art. Then Hermes took the model. And now all these brands do it. This list crap is cool. But if you really want the timepieces then you have to be the person the client/sales advisors trust and want to hang out with. You can also get a personal referral from a client who already has an established purchase list.

Getting an AP is like a job interview
I'm really happy for you accomplishing your goals, but this type of video is why the hype and prices of watches have gone to where they are. You're an anesthesiologist, come from a family of watch collectors, so obviously y'all enjoy the finer things. But acting like it's a unicorn is disingenuous.
I'm a regular dude, in the world, and know people who own royal oaks. The baguette (I think) bezel you got is super special. But even then, you got called back in......... It's not that special. "They" make us believe that.....
I'm happy for you. Genuinely. But be a realistic consumer........

What I don't understand is how the watch magically appeared when you left. Do they store watches in the back for certain people and just say they don't have any in stock until you "prove yourself"?
i’m not sure but i believe they check you out to make sure you’re not a flipper (reseller)!

37mm Royal Oaks are really not that hard to get. Esp with diamond bezels. The boutiques will just act like they are. Women’s oriented watches do not sell very well at all. This is why it’s really important to do research and understand the market.
This video makes me not want to be so materialistic because I can see how shallow it looks.
I reckon introducing yourself as “Dr” helped a lot. You also say you mentioned your Dad, I bet he is also a “Dr”. Plus the fact you collect other lux brands. This is what AP want to see. Generational wealth not the potential flipper.

Okay so I'm super happy for you but experiences like the one you describe make me cringe as it clearly shows what total BS being on a "list" is all about.
I'm sure this dealer has many other customers who have completed "profiles" and told they'll be on "the list", and to wait patiently when in fact it's all arbitrary and dependent on the "sales clerk" at the moment. If I was one of those customers who has been waiting, I'd be pissed seeing this video.
AP and the dealer should be honest and transparent with potential customers. Show them "the list" and how many others are waiting for a particular model or just be truthful and say it's totally dependent on the whims of the clerk and manager at any given moment. Stop the used car sales practices.
A woman will always get an allocation because so few women buy, and they will buy the smaller sizes 33-38mm. There are 500 to 1 wait list man to woman my AD told me last week in person.
Almost felt my heart explode after googling Audemars Piguet prices. I already feel overly ambitious thinking I'll ever own a Rolex or Cartier timepiece! 🤣 Anyway, I LOVE how you told this story and seeing you being so excited about getting that watch, I could almost feel it myself! It does look amazing on you for sure. :)

You can buy a Cartier at list from any dealer that sells Cartier, there’s no waiting lists, and if you don’t mind quartz they’re not that expensive.

OMG I literally had the same model of the watch but with some gold details about 4 years ago; I used to love it so much because it really goes with everything and is just stunning; sadly someone stole it from me at gunpoint so please be careful because some people are watching what we are wearing

sorry to hear that. best thing to do is to get them insured. That's what I do with mine. not only against theft but damage and fire too. that way you don't have worry about your watches no matter what happens. I'm glad you are ok though.
That dial on the watch is incredible! I love love how detailed you get about the brand. I have followed you for years and I think the reason why I haven’t gotten “bored” of your channel is because it’s educational. It makes me think of why I want a purchase a high ticket item and makes me reflect on what that piece means to me. I have one boy and and another on its way so I have been thinking about what I’d like to pass down to them and this video has really made me think about that even more.

The fact that we have come to a point where consumers are happy that they are given the privileged opportunity to part with their money is absolutely mind-blowing to me. I honestly cannot wrap my head around that no matter how hard I try. Consumerism will be the end of us all.

Happy to pay 50k for something which producing costs around usd. Biggest scam industry in the world. In economy lessons they teach you there is 2% of people who are wiling to pay huge amounts of money for something dozens of times less worth just becouse it is expensive. They have stocks of watches they just make you wait to feel special. Hermes has stocks of Birkins. It just mith they are creating and selling immensely. Crazy.

Stunning and even in 37 mm it’s as rare as hens teeth . I’m sure there will be a lot of people very unhappy with Dallas boutique walking In and getting the piece without a wait is virtually unheard of and will ruffle a few feathers I’m sure ., however this is not your problem , congratulations on a beautiful purchase .

It’s a woman’s size, I buy a woman’s Rolex in any AD, I can’t buy a men’s, it appears to be the same with AP, as this story and others prove.

I’ve worn a watch everyday since I was 3 years old. I, too, got my love of watches from my DAd and that’s what I asked for for my 3rd birthday. I am very hard on watches so now I must have a sapphire crystal, a metal ( steel or gold) band and it has to be able to go in the ocean for extended periods of time. I don’t think I’ll ever by a watch that’s not automatic again, but who knows. I love all you watches, and so admire the latest edition to your collection. That was totally a “meant to be” moment! As a fellow AP collector & one still waiting for his 50th edition😩be careful coming out the boutique with the Audemars Piguet bag with watch enclosed & then showing to strangers, you are really putting yourself in danger of being mugged for the watch. U say it was a great experience yet they told u they didn’t have any to show u but can only show u on the computer yet all of a sudden there was one in the shop and u reckon was that ok

It will never happen to a ever day working person ,they checked you out once you walked out and see that you was a TH-camr so they wanted a good story on TH-cam about them instead of all storylines that can’t get a watch , so question is that they got a wait list of years so why did they give it to you over some one who has been on list for years ,I am afraid to say it’s likes of you and all the other doing social media that stop us true watch collectors from be able to get watches , and the watch you got is a watch that some one on wait list for years who was going to get it is not getting it now ,do not be silly of course they no you got TH-cam Chanel as they didn’t offer you watch why you was in there and waited till you left then Google you and looked you up and found out that you blogger TH-camr and so on that why they then called you and asked you come back and done all big watch thing with you as wanted good story for once ,but hay good luck to you and well done for jumping the list and we woukd all do the same if we was you as life is about using what every you can to you advantage as that life

I noticed that the AP dealers here (there are 3 of them) have 37mm Royal Oaks in stock but not the 40's... so maybe the watch because of the size was availble. I like how you describe your expirience and I like to see a real world consumer purchase rather than a "watch" person reviewing something they didn't purchase with their own money. -I noticed your Van Cleef & Arpels braclet! Honestly, you're fortunate that the gentleman you passed simply wanted to congratulate you on your acquisition. When I purchase high-end watches, I'll usually take the most boring bag or backpack I own and before I leave the boutique, it goes in there. Walking down the street swinging your AP bag with a cheesy grin can quickly draw attention from those you'd rather avoid. Just a thought. Congrats on the Royal Oak!
I get what you’re saying. I should be more careful. But I wasn’t being careless. I went from valet at the four seasons to my room (cautiously). Doubt I’ll get mugged within the walls of a five star hotel, but you’re right, you never know!

Beautiful watch. I’d love to get a royal oak chronograph panda dial. Prices are way too inflated on the secondary market. I think the Girard Perregaux chrono is a beautiful watch as well just not as in demand as the AP.
What this video shows me is AP will sell you a Royal oak if you’re a social media influencer with at least over 200k subscribers. My 3 year wait at my local boutique is meaningless.

That's a stunning watch! Very beautiful. I'm not much into watches and would much rather not wear one at all ATM. I have a nice Citizen Eco-Drive and a Tommy Hilfiger watch and only use the Citizen because my TH is chronically out of battery. 😄
The polishing on a Grand Seiko is far better than any AP.
