It's almost surreal how this game has been occurring in my infofield every now and then and I always ignored it. Now, knowing it's in Pillars universe, Obsidian-made, and not just "a game like Skyrim", I wishlisted it without a second thought. So thank you!
Dragon Age 1 and Pillars of Eternity have a lot of DNA in common, I like that they're switching to a first/third person series set in the same universe because it makes it easier for a lot of people to pick up and just play without thinking too hard about crpg mechanics. It's also going to be nicer for me since I'll be able to shut my brain down a little bit as I go lore diving.
I'm glad they gave this game a little extra time to bake in the oven. The scope is limited in aspects such as playtime but ultimately a game like this is a big undertaking and I would rather they have the time they need to get it right.
Another negative thing about this game: no romance... One of my favorite things about RPGs is the companions and the ability to romance them...friendship interactions are pretty cool too but they lack that "spice" that only good romances can bring to the table i like Obsidian writing, but I don't know what happens to them in this regard, they always come up with some lame excuse as to why they don't put romance in their games hehehe great video btw
im really excited too! i was a little upset theres no romances but then i remembered i didnt know skyrim had romances until like my 5th playthough and it was pointless anyways lol. so im really excited
I have to admit, I'm nervous about this because of the Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed fuckery, but I'm quietly hopeful. The price tag is extremely steep for a game that everyone is saying will be very short... but it looks lovely and I didn't hate Skyrim or ESO combat in third person. I'll miss the traditional combat, but I can tolerate this much easier than the horrific face roll mechanics of DA:V combat. We'll see. I'm sad that Obsidian is "updating" their combat style, but it's not the worse they can do. I'm looking forward to playing in Eora again.
Avowed has my interest for sure, but not hype. The initial trailer was the mood I had hoped from the game. Dark, moody, and serious. The game looks altogether too colorful in an upbeat way, like Oblivion, and not in a fantastical way, like Elden Ring. However, Obsidian makes some amazing games. Pentiment is such an underrated gem of a game, and the outer worlds was very mediocre but I feel Obsidian always stumbles with the first in original series, they do great in sequels and existing lore. So, with this being based on Pillars already with 2 games under their belt and a little experience making outer worlds, I'll definitely get it. Fingers crossed it reallt engrosses me, I haven't played a good first person RPG since Kingdom Come
I’m really looking forward to Greedfall 2 next year cause the first game took a lot I loved about DAO and added its own twist to make it unique. The first games my 3rd favorite game of all time(behind Origins at 1 and ME1 at 2) and everything I’ve seen of 2 looks amazing.
@@Dragonslayor226 I'm very curious about Greedfall 2! I thought the first one had a very promising concept but didn't feel like it executed it pretty well, so I'm hoping the sequel will manage to do everything at a higher level
@@btiermutineerI do feel they could’ve improved some areas(most notably for me the romances though I do really enjoy Sioras) I think it got a lot more right than it did wrong. And I’ve always said it’s a better Dragon Age game than Inquisition ever was
This and Gohtic remake is the rpg I looking forward to the most right now :) Dragon age looks eeehhh...... Same for Greedfall 2. Tho Outward 2 is still my nr 1 game but it so to far away hehe. I would normly say Elder scrolls 6 there, tho I have such a lack of faith in Bugthesta to bother.
I agree with you about dragon age, but the art style of veil guard based on the new gameplay walkthrough looks almost identical to avowed... Also, (inquisition sucks gameplay wise would be better as a book), but I've replayed Dragon Age II multiple times the past few years and it's actually a really good game. It aged like fine wine in my opinion. Started out as a moldy sock and turned into a golden apple.
I hope that they don't cram companion romances down the proverbial throat like they did in outerworlds. Don't get me wrong, I'll take or leave player romances, but if my companions can hook up with npcs, at least give me that option as well.
@yesteryearr no nobibget that the player doesn't have any romantic options. I just didn't like that even the other second. I was reminded of this by my companions wanting to go see their romantic interest.
@@DavidSantos-ix1hu it is! Well, it's set in the same world as Pillars, but obviously it's not a CRPG. I think it's very likely they'll still make Pillars 3 at some point, but I love that they're exploring the setting in a different kind of game!
@@btiermutineer Well, its just come out that Josh Sawyer and Obsidian is pitching a Pillars of Eternity tactics game. Here's hoping that goes through. 😄
@@ЕвгенийЛебедев-н7ц8э the fact that you're comparing it to Dishonored proves my point exactly. With "Dishonored" first of all people know what that means since it's a more common word, and it immediately suggests a type of story and atmosphere of the game. Avowed on the other hand is an uncommon word that really only suggests something about "vows" to people who don't know what it means, and otherwise it doesn't evoke a story, emotion, or vibe. Plus, if it's a bit too similar to Dishonored and makes people think of it, it's not a great comparison seeing as Dishonored is an immersive sim and Avowed is a fantasy RPG

i like all 3 DA games
1. DAO 9/10
2. DAI 8/10
3. DA2 7/10
for DAO graphics costs 1point, otherwise it would be a 10/10
