Love it !!! What a wonderful restoration!! Mine is an 85 model. Just enjoy riding it!! Maybe one day it will look in showroom condition like yours…….but time to ride and enjoy it right now…..
Thank you, I’ve still to get it running perfectly but that’s this winter’s project. I’m looking forward to riding it when the weather gets better next year. It’s great your riding yours.
I'm in the US, I recently picked up 2 bearing retainers for the rear wheel that you are talking about from a guy in Germany. He doesn't make them, but I promised I'd have a local machine shop replicate them, hence why he sent me 2 (I needed to use one and I'm taking the other to the machine shop). It may be a bit before I have them, but I plan to have a bunch made to help some folks on an XL forum. I'll let you know, although I'm thinking you'll have it from your source before I get these made.
That sounds like a great initiative! Collaborating with a local machine shop to replicate the bearing retainers is a smart move. I got one from Canada in the end. Keep the XL forum community posted on your progress. Good luck with your project! 👍
Ive got the same bike; However the spark I think is weak, orange spark not blue/white. It runs fine apart from a splutter when you wack the throttle back open fully. Have you the same problem?

I’ve not fired the bike up yet hopefully in the next 2 weeks Il have the other bits done and hopefully it will start.
Is this for you? Or to do up & sell? Or are you going to take it to shows?
This is my first bike build and once completed I shall do a ride and and possibly take it to a few places, if it’s worthy 👍
@@thatbikersimon It's looking good so far. 🤝🏾
كم سعر XL
I paid £2000 and probably be worth £4000 when finished 👍
كم يساوي دولار اميركي من فضلك ☺️
So you painted the motor nothing else then put it back in? It needed rings and a valve refresh.
The engine was working fine and still is
@@thatbikersimon But a rebuild means new parts old parts are not a real rebuilt engine.
