  • Aprilia-owning BikeSocial Members, Andy Bushnell and Mark Robins, joined our own Michael Mann to ride and review the 2021 RSV4.
    With a raft of upgrades to the engine, electronics and fairings, the headline sports bike from the Noale factory's range has had a fair going over for 2021 and who better to enlist for some proper UK-based road reviews than two RSV4 owners.

    I bought the 2022 rsv4 factory in ultra dark so that the wings don't stand out too much. At £19500 it left me enough to buy the akrapovic exhaust with decat pipe + race map and all the carbon parts and still keep the price to £21500. Although i added more bits and pieces after that.
    obviously you might want to add on other options like a tail tidy, levers, screen, rear sets, crash protection etc.
    This bike is absolutely awesome, the swingarm keeps the weight low so that the rear end does not endo like the 2009 model used to do under hard braking and the riding position is more comfortable than the last iteration and still comfortable for a sports bike and with the 1099cc, it now has the ferocity and top end speed it should have had back in the day.
    Its quick, its got torque for days, it power wheelies over slight crests in the road where other bikes will just stay planted, its fun and it sounds great.

    Loved the video, although i must add that, i still prefer my 2017 Rsv4rr. It was nice to hear what other owners shares their experience. I think the biggest misconception about Aprilia is that everyone i spoke to thinks it breaks down like a ducati, and i have experience with ducati reliability cos i also have the Pani V4… and it caught fire 2 months ago… and dealer just said its over warranty… so no more ducati for me.

    Great review and excellent format. I really appreciated hearing owner's thoughts. Personally, and I am a fan of the rsv4 - not an owner since closest dealer is 4 hours away - I agree with the second owner. The look of the wings from the front is really a deal killer.

    • @grzesiek7358
      @grzesiek7358 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would never buy a bike for the wings and I would never reject it bc of them. Especially because there's not that much to choose from if you're not into japanese inline fours or BMW. In my opinion it's better integrated here than 'ant's jaws' of Panigale which I'm in love with anyways.

    I think lack of dealership (atleast in America) tend to be the biggest reason for lack of sales. Most people don't want to travel 4+ hours to buy a top price bike and then when it needs service, have to take that 4+ hour trip for service.

I've owned R1s, R1s and more R1s, but for me my matte black edition Factory with Akra carbon can is second to none - including Ducati! I'm an Aprilia fan and everyone knows you can buy RF's with big discounts so this idea that people dont buy them because of cost is wrong - the biggest selling bike in Europe is the BMW GSA - they're not cheap! The reason sales are low is because its a small, focussed bike and if you're 40-50ish and can afford a new top end bike most punters want a degree more comfort and versatility than most current sports bikes and in particular this Aprilia can offer.

      I bought mine a month ago and yes you will need to be careful in traffic. First day I had mine out, got caught in traffic on an 80 degree day and the bike was hitting 240 degrees on the dash and the temperature gauge was flashing at me. I actually had to start turning the engine off while in traffic. It didn't burn like a ducati does but damn does it get hot

    I love this bike for so many reasons, but BUT, I road ride. I need the lower seat height to make parking, red lights and traffic, easier to deal with. The seat on this bike is just a bit high to make it comfortable for such things. I’ve had a number of bikes, Honda, Yamaha and now a Suzuki. My GSXR has a nice low seat and makes backing up easy. Makes sitting at lights for long durations, easy. So, for the money you get a lot. If I rode more track days, maybe I’d go this way. Please make the seat a bit lower on the next redo. I’ll get one of you make it so I can flat foot when sitting still. Im 69 inches tall.

      Thanks for the comment. Have you tried lowering the suspension or even an aftermarket seat to give you an extra bit of comfort? There’s plenty of forums or FB groups who might be able to advise.

    In the 80s when I were a lad, motorbikes in the UK were basically all sportsbikes. You never really saw anything else. Result is that I was never interested in bikes.
    Fast forward 30 years, I realised that bikes come in many shapes and sizes. Ended up getting my big boy licence and proud owner of a Yamaha scooter. Torque will rip your arms off if you're not careful.

    Bloody love my 2018 RSV4RF. If I could justify the extra expense I’d upgrade to the 20MY 1100 Factory. The new 1100 Factory didn’t look as premium in the flesh in comparison to the 20MY.

    The 23k isn't the matter for me, a Fireblade SP like I just bought is 23k too, I think its just the stigma of 'Aprilia Reliability' that they can't seem to scrub off, which is a shame as I loved mine for 8 years and 23,000miles!

    • @mudddge

      It’s deserved. The RSV4 is known to destroy valve springs and Aprilia is using the same SKU for valve springs in the new 1099 cc engine

    I’m a 2019 RSV4 RR owner and it’s also my first experience with Aprilia. I have to say it’s been an absolutely awesome bike mine has the decat Carbon Akrapovic system with Aprilia race map and imo there is NO better soundtrack for a bike period!! Ive also had my suspension tuned and even though its Sach suspension not Ohlins its handling is 💯 on point 👌🏻 especially with the Pirelli Supercorsas i run. Ive nothing negative to say about the bike other than the cruise control is intrusive just like you’ve mentioned about this 2021 is and the usual dealer network isnt the greatest imo. This 2021 model is awesome although aesthetically im not a massive fan of the headlights don’t get me wrong the RSV4 needed LED lighting just aesthetically could have looked better imo. Other than that I’m definitely a fan of this 2021 model especially in the black/red 🔥. This is my 2019 if anyone is interested th-cam.com/video/lcfEzsKEn4U/w-d-xo.html

      Fair point but it still slots in alongside the other modern sports bikes from

      I’m in NJ area and we have a few aprilia dealers. Why spend 27k on the 1100 when you can spend 19k on the s1000rr and get the active suspension and with a flash the same hp. That being said I am myself seriously considering the 2021 base model for 18900

    • @tristandrew5903
      @tristandrew5903 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Main reason for me too. 18k I'd probably go out and buy it. It's also the cheek of putting up a premium model 5k higher than the base just for the suspension and paintwork and then the customer still needs to fork out for a nice exhaust and map. RSV4 hands down, V4R too expensive, s1000rr great bike but felt clinical and no character, suzuki boring 4 pot, Honda obviously capable but again bland and unusable gearing for road. ZX10 gutless lowdown and ugly, terrible roadbike. R1 nice but still has the brake issues, probably second choice as sounds great too.
