just woke up and felt really anxious. it really stresses me out everyday because it happens every morning. thank you for this. I'm feeling better. It's such a struggle to have anxiety
It took me about six months of daily working on pushing away the anxiety in the morning ..luckily person who did it in a week. But I have some hard core trauma in my past..so honestly lucky I am not an insomniac like I was ten years ago. We all heal in our own time. My focus now is on getting w ouch sleep and my nutrition educating myself and some meditation

@@gaybrigance6589 we can’t go out bc neighbors aren’t being safe. We feed birds we can watch through our windows and watch nature shows. Maybe not 100% perfect but best we can do. Open a window if possible. Also I discovered independently and found out it was a thing…cold therapy. We live in a winter Midwest state so right now it’s easy to walk outside. If you have a balcony or I’ve also heard ice pack on the base of the neck and forehead, cold shower, cold face dunk, holding an ice cube, playing nature music and sounds in your house from bubbling creeks to rainforest to birds etc.
Just woke up and had that surge of cortisol and anxiety rush through my body and it’s absolutely scary. I can’t get myself out of bed because I feel like I might pass out. My hands and feet are so cold… it’s horrible. I came to see how everyone handles this so here I am. Mel explains this exactly how I’m feeling. I thank you so much for posting this video. I sometimes get relief and don't wake up like that but this year since about June I have been having terrible anxiety , it usually happens around 6 in the morning and feels so horrible. It is over whelming. I do get up and function, doing all my chores, feeding animals, make my bed. You are right if you do not get up right away the feeling gets so much worse too. I used to only get anxious since my youth but in 2008 after my husband died, I began to have anxiety and it tortured me for 6 and a half years horrible. I did have some times where I didn't have it, but stress apparently has brought it back to me the last 3 years off and on. And now its been a few months again of it hitting me all over again. I did feel alone and figured something is just wrong with me. Thank you for letting me know others do experience it. Thank you again so much for sharing.
YES! Finally a video about morning anxiety!! I have been suffering for so many years. I just started to journal. That helps a little. I cannot remember waking up not feeling anxious😞
Thank you so much. I have lived with anxiety to varying degrees since 7th grade. It’s been harder finding tools in the middle years with two young kiddos. Until this year I have not woken up with anxiety. I was like “SERIOUSLY! I just woke up.” Also I have a couple of times had panic attacks while sleeping this year which can also be a thing. The one respite I thought from anxiety was sleep. Not so true. Thank you for these skills. I will try them.
Mel you are not alone in this anxiety battle, I feel anxiety everyday, and try to do the steps that you suggested, we need to be our own best friend and be kind to ourselves when we feel like this 🥰, thanks for the video , xx

Thank you thank you thank you!!🧡 Im in the depths at the moment, I've been here before and when im here it always feels like its the worst I've felt. But I can do it. I can get moving and find a focus. My anxiety and overthinking take hold of my mind, while my depression holds my body still. I become paralyzed by decisions and thoughts and waste my time in this mental limbo land. I will try to get up and get moving. I know youre right. I knew thats what I had to do today but couldn't get myself out of my head enough to move. Ill try the "54321, get up" approach. You are wonderful, thank you for your honesty and insight xxx
I love this. The hardest thing is getting up but you're right, I used to find putting on my training shoes to go about the house makes me feel different, more capable, more READY and in Control. I've kind of forgotten that and got out of the habit and rolled over and let my anxiety wash over me like a wave. Rather than mooching around in pyjamas and fluffy socks I need to get up and get going again In days like this!
I watched this video yesterday. When I woke up this morning I said in my heart while my eyes were still closed "I am a child of God!" I said "Not today devil go away!" This worked and the anxiety stopped. Fear comes from the devil. God did not give us the spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
Lately i wake up early after a bad dream and throughout the day rushing one place to another dealing with difficult people mailing packages for Christmas, the people who work at these places... I was so anxious when i left I had to go for a walk before i went into another public place and i couldn't wait to go home😮. Thank you for your videos ❤️ so comforting ❤
Thank you Mel! You never cease to impress me! Even when you re vunerable, you still manage to use your anxiety as a life lesson for the rest of us. Incredibly compassionate of you!
Thank you sooooo much for this!! I had an awful anxiety day yesterday. Slept great, woke up with it back in waves. I watched this video. Followed the steps and I’m functioning again. I am so grateful!
No matter what life throws at you, there's ALWAYS an amazingly helpful Mel Robbins video. I have a total case of the Monday Mornings today, too much to do this week and I don't feel like I can face it all. In addition to that, Monday's always the day I plan on changing my habits, and I have lost confidence that I can change my daily habits. I have this idea of the perfect day, and I just can't. I will do my high five and five second journal.
Get up, make the bed. Two things accomplished already! Mel, I want to thank you for giving of yourself so genuinely and generously. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. For me it has been just one wave after another. And I’ve been trained on all the tricks. I know all the self motivation stuff. I know it takes grit just to do it. But when you’re in that bed in deep depression, as I like to say… When you’re up to your ass in alligators it’s hard to remember that the main objective was to drain the swamp. But I turned to TH-cam and found your Channel, as well as several others. And it has been so much adventure! it turned out that I was sick and I just didn’t realize it because I was so depressed. But because of my convalescence with my TH-cam sheroes, my energy returned in May enough to get up, make the bed. And each day I added as much as I could to the list you just gave. And it works. The order of operation is a little different for me. But that doesn’t matter. It’s the same list. Get up, make the bed, take a shower to rearrange the molecules, stretch and exercise, get dressed. Keep moving. Action is the answer to anxiety. Even if the only action we can manage at the time is our steps. Thank you again. I hear you.
Tried cold showers for 2 weeks and it is working. Gradually go from mild to cold and stay 2 min. Yes at first it is tough and then you get used to be calm after. Good luck.
Thankyou so much♥️I wake up every morning with overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety that I won’t be able to get through the day.😢I completely freeze up n I just want to cry or scream or run! This gives me hope I can change the pattern happening in my mind/body!💜
Thankyou, 2020/21 has done a number on me, I slid into deep depression and anxiety. Morning is the worst, gripped in bed with fear, can't move. I'm going to 54321, take the dog out and try to push through it
Thank God i'm not alone in this.. sometimes i resolved my anxious the previous day and i functioned normally and finally after 2 days unable to sleep i can fall asleep.. but the next day waking up.. is like all hell let loose.. all the emotions coming back like that anxiousness waiting for me to wake beside my bed and I feel like i'm in a loop 😓 i will try this and thx u so much 😇 i'm gonna make 'responding to anxiety not reacting to it" my mantra 😁
I'm so sad and stressed, I've been waking up for a year now with anxiety. I don't understand why because I don't expierence anxiety throughout the day and it's so frustrating. I don't work (looking for work) and have NOTHING to worry about. Seeing your vid and reading the comments made me realize I'm not alone. I hate this feeling. It's every morning, no matter how relaxed I am at night. Therapist says it's trauma so we're working with EMDR therapy now
Try not to analyse it too much or try to ‘solve’ the puzzle. With Covid, you’re literally surrounded by fear - from the media and those we come across. Of course, you’ll pick up on it. Just deal with your symptoms as Mel explains and when you feel better, try and keep your focus on any positives you can think of ❤️
Thank you, I needed this this morning. I had a little bout of depression a couple of weeks ago because of hormones and tiredness, and I can’t seem to shake it. I’ve started to try to pinpoint where the anxiety is coming from and my mind is trying to focus it on my boyfriend and it has started spiralling if he spends a few hours not responding to my last message, my mind has started to get really paranoid. Hence the anxiety this morning 😢 Stuggling to drag myself out of it. Right I’m off to make my bed, do some yoga, do a brain dump into my notebook. Thanks ❤
🟥🟥 your video came at the top second, I came back from travel and it's been 30 days already and every morning I've been feeling extremely miserable more often, cuz Post travel sadness still not been fixed yet, USA homes are so empty at morning times that's very depressing....you think all the negatives at morning time , woman goes through that a lot . Great advice about -- get up and keep moving because one emotions will lead to another emotions. And that is so true, because if you stay on bed is still will not repair anything. Body moves things happen and emotions also change
Good morning Mel, hope you're feeling better than earlier today. I happen to be going through the same as you with transitioning my daughter into life at 19. I'm scared also. But I'm gonna remember your advice today forward so I don't get caught up into my anxiety of this new change,. Thank you so much for sharing what your going through 😊

I have a yoga routine that doesn't require me to lie down on the floor. I use the routine when I am in a park, motel, or a guest room. Floor routines are for home and yoga studio and there I use a mat. Always important to have the a.m. moves!
Hijack is a perfect word. That's so much what it feels like. Having experienced it so often myself, I could even hear it in your voice when you first started the vid. Morning anxiety is all too common, esp these days. Thanx for giving tools, not just words. You're actions speak so loud! Thx again!
Loved to know that I m not alone through the comment section..... feeling better.its not only in morning but everytime waking up like afternoon after lunch nap.it's sometime genetic may be.cz my mother also suffer this.
Many thanks for this helpful video ❤️I also suffer from anxiety and mornings are hell... However after I told a close friend what I am feeling she recommended me to see a doctor. I did and found out that my vitamin D and iron was very low.. B12 is also very important. So we started with supplements one month ago. I take vitamin d, iron and magnesium. Never thought that anxiety or depression could be related to this... In 2 months we will check again..vitamins and minerals are so important, now I know..
When faced with a very serious issue (like now, with the pandemic, mandates, employer forcing stuff and all).., I tend to feel anxiousness during the day time. But as with previous bouts of anxiety... it sort of magically disappears when late evening or night time comes. Even when I think of the issues, at night it sorta doesn’t bother me, almost at all. Just wondering if anyone else has the same experience? Wish I could put my finger on it as it might help immensely with the day time anxiety. Anyway, this video has been a blessing and hope the steps given will God willing help me with my daytime anxiety :) thanks Mel :)
Mel, just let me tell you: you are so professional and give out tips that actually works in practice. I've watched so many youtube lessons on any of these topics like this one and I just had to stop, it was too much and too many different solutions that most often didn't work. But I'm so glad I watched your channel before I stopped searching and I now only want to watch you and another person that have helped me, Jordan Peterson. I will only listen to you professionals :) Please keep beeing so grounded to earth as you are in this video, because when you share that you also have these kind of problems we can really trust you, so when you share your routine we know it is something you do yourself and that you also have some of our struggles :) keep working
I usually stay in bed when this happens because my morning anxiety wakes me up too early or maybe my bladder wakes me up too early and then I think I'm going to be worse if I don't sleep more, but I can't sleep more. It's horrible.

This worked and the anxiety stopped.
I always have this. Whenever I have a good day and I sleep good it is always followed by anxiety. What we people did to deserve this really.
I’m glad I found this video, I have been waking up like this recently and I’ve been feeling so alone in this. Thank you.
I hear you.
Love this Deborah, thanks 🙏 hope you’re well on the road to recovery ❤️
I can relate..it's awful bit this video helps a lot..may you be fine and god bless you..be strong 🙏❤️
Tried cold showers for 2 weeks and it is working. Gradually go from mild to cold and stay 2 min. Yes at first it is tough and then you get used to be calm after. Good luck.
Talk back to your anxiety & start moving is the best advice.
I honor you bravery to be so vulnerable. That was Rule#1 for me: Even a badass feels this way sometimes so keep your head up.
Lived with anxiety all my life - but the last month or so been waking up with high anxiety - helpful steps for managing this - Thanks
Thank you for sharing how you manage your morning anxiety and providing us with the steps to do so.
Thankyou so much♥️I wake up every morning with overwhelming feeling of fear and anxiety that I won’t be able to get through the day.😢I completely freeze up n I just want to cry or scream or run!
This gives me hope I can change the pattern happening in my mind/body!💜
Hey how are you now I'm also suffering from this 😭
Thankyou, 2020/21 has done a number on me, I slid into deep depression and anxiety. Morning is the worst, gripped in bed with fear, can't move. I'm going to 54321, take the dog out and try to push through it
Mel deserves all of the subscribers.
Hey how are you now I'm also suffering from this 😭
Thank you! This video helped me so much. I had a racing heart this morning. Really don’t know why. But you helped me!
Thanks
I love your honest you don’t hide that you have anxiety 👍👍❤️❤️
I watch this video every time I’m having a anxious morning episode. Helps every time!!
I'm with you Mel! I'm sending the best of wishes and lots of love from Poland!😊
Therapist says it's trauma so we're working with EMDR therapy now
Hey how are you now I'm also suffering from this 😭
Please reply please 😢
Yes this is how I felt this morning
Thank you 🙏. Sometimes I have morning anxiety but when I don’t, I get it later during the day. I feel shaky/ trembling all the time 😰
Same this shaky feeling and tapping my feet while sitting on chair at job..when get new task..which i dont know..what to do??...is it sickness?
@@anilchudasama7698 it is fear of the unknown and fear of not being able to complete the task. Lack of control. I have this daily
@@glen458 right.. how do you overcome this fear daily???
Ive been going through this. Its super hard. Has never happened before. Wish i knew whats going on. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing what your going through 😊
Thank you so much, 14 years with a covert narcissist has left damage but im determined with help from people like you to get over anxiety, to anyone reading this, I am alone my ex abuser was so cunning & malicious she turned my family against me on top of dat she still parties with my family while i dont even get an invite , i live in her home town, i developed depression & anxiety, if i was a bad person or unloving i have always been da caring luving brother, the favorite uncle , the person who greets with a hug, so wen my family didnt care to even ask if something was rong hurt deeply, add depression & anxiety on top of dat, i shud be dead, i tell you dis so you no i have made i have lifted myself up started a successful small business & by using da couping tool like these & others i find happiness some days are not great but even da bad days are not as bad as dey used to be, learn to luv urself even wen u feel like nobody does, i don't no you but if ur suffering I luv u because we share a commen pain dat bonds us, if i knew you if i was able to i wud go to u & give u da biggest hug & help u get thru it, dats something we only do for luved ones. Stay strong
Mel, I love that you are so open and honest in your posts on TH-cam.
Mel I honestly love you. You are a lifesaver.
Thank you. You don’t understand. I needed to hear all of this. Thank You.
Hey Mel,
All ur videos r so natural and I really feel connected, coz I hv children too, . Anxiety is always we come across..
Thankyou Mel Robbins , for being so open & sharing this with everyone .
I have a yoga routine that doesn't require me to lie down on the floor. I use the routine when I am in a park, motel, or a guest room. Floor routines are for home and yoga studio and there I use a mat. Always important to have the a.m. moves!
Great idea! 👍
Thank you Mel, you're amazing 💖 Your daughter is going to be happy 🍃
Thanks Mel. I love that you got straight to the point and shared how you felt. This is helping
Hijack is a perfect word. That's so much what it feels like. Having experienced it so often myself, I could even hear it in your voice when you first started the vid. Morning anxiety is all too common, esp these days. Thanx for giving tools, not just words. You're actions speak so loud! Thx again!
Thank you 🙏 I wake up anxious all the time.. I stArt blaming my relationship or my job. It’s not them. It’s patterns . Thank you for your video 💚
Honestly, this is not normally my number one looked up thing, but I definitely felt this & found myself here and you to give amazing advice🙏🏼❤️
I thought it was just me. Waking up to a deep feeling of dread. Getting up does help, and a cuppa coffee.
Thank you so much!
(I am from Brazil and your video made better my day)
What I love about you is that you are me. You are real and raw thank you for your videos truly motivating and humbling thanks
Thank you so much for this video, I can’t take it anymore and I’m going to try this in the morning. Please keep posting
Love your honesty, thank you.
What about depression, overwhelmed??
Same steps 🚶♂️?
Thank you for sharing Mel, it feels good to know we are not alone in this and that we all or many do experience anxiety

Loved to know that I m not alone through the comment section..... feeling better.its not only in morning but everytime waking up like afternoon after lunch nap.it's sometime genetic may be.cz my mother also suffer this.
Mel, I appreciate you so much. Thank you ❤️
Many thanks for this helpful video ❤️I also suffer from anxiety and mornings are hell...
Love what ya do Mel, so genuine. I use the 5 second rule when I get anxious.
Thsnks for this video Mel. Is always so hard to move on in the morning for me Love from Ireland 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Yes, evenings are better, and all the worry seems unfounded. And you make plans for the next day. But when the next morning comes....
Hey how are you now I'm also suffering from this 😭
Exactly same is happening with me 😢
@@yuxkexactly same is happening with me please tell me solution 😢
Such good advice and helpful to know that anxiety is so common. Sometimes you think it is just you!
This is brilliant didn’t realise I do some of these things! So pleased I came across this I am going to try it In the morning!!
I usually stay in bed when this happens because my morning anxiety wakes me up too early or maybe my bladder wakes me up too early and then I think I'm going to be worse if I don't sleep more, but I can't sleep more. It's horrible.
Hey how are you now I'm also suffering from this 😭
Thank you Mel! I hope you're well and staying safe!
Brilliant, will try this, thanks
Yes, this is a good plan. Thank you.
You explain this so well and really give motivation and hope thank you so much
thank you!!!! lovely, made me cry.
LOVE these steps! ❤😁 Screenshot and going to write it down and put it on my wall near my bed.
