I thank you so much for posting this video. I sometimes get relief and don't wake up like that but this year since about June I have been having terrible anxiety , it usually happens around 6 in the morning and feels so horrible. It is over whelming. I do get up and function, doing all my chores, feeding animals, make my bed. You are right if you do not get up right away the feeling gets so much worse too. I used to only get anxious since my youth but in 2008 after my husband died, I began to have anxiety and it tortured me for 6 and a half years horrible. I did have some times where I didn't have it, but stress apparently has brought it back to me the last 3 years off and on. And now its been a few months again of it hitting me all over again. I did feel alone and figured something is just wrong with me. Thank you for letting me know others do experience it. Thank you again so much for sharing.

I was so anxious when i left I had to go for a walk before i went into another public place and i couldn't wait to go home😮. Thank you for your videos ❤️ so comforting ❤
I love this. The hardest thing is getting up but you're right, I used to find putting on my training shoes to go about the house makes me feel different, more capable, more READY and in Control. I've kind of forgotten that and got out of the habit and rolled over and let my anxiety wash over me like a wave. Rather than mooching around in pyjamas and fluffy socks I need to get up and get going again In days like this!
Thank you so much. I have lived with anxiety to varying degrees since 7th grade. It’s been harder finding tools in the middle years with two young kiddos. Until this year I have not woken up with anxiety. I was like “SERIOUSLY! I just woke up.” Also I have a couple of times had panic attacks while sleeping this year which can also be a thing. The one respite I thought from anxiety was sleep. Not so true. Thank you for these skills. I will try them.
OMG, I had that for years! Every morning! I told so many doctors/ psychiatrists about it! Nobody could ever tell me what it was... I thought I was the only one with that crippling problem!! Thank you so much!
Get up, make the bed. Two things accomplished already! Mel, I want to thank you for giving of yourself so genuinely and generously. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone. For me it has been just one wave after another. And I’ve been trained on all the tricks. I know all the self motivation stuff. I know it takes grit just to do it. But when you’re in that bed in deep depression, as I like to say… When you’re up to your ass in alligators it’s hard to remember that the main objective was to drain the swamp. But I turned to TH-cam and found your Channel, as well as several others. And it has been so much adventure! it turned out that I was sick and I just didn’t realize it because I was so depressed. But because of my convalescence with my TH-cam sheroes, my energy returned in May enough to get up, make the bed. And each day I added as much as I could to the list you just gave. And it works. The order of operation is a little different for me. But that doesn’t matter. It’s the same list. Get up, make the bed, take a shower to rearrange the molecules, stretch and exercise, get dressed. Keep moving. Action is the answer to anxiety. Even if the only action we can manage at the time is our steps. Thank you again. I hear you.
Try not to analyse it too much or try to ‘solve’ the puzzle. With Covid, you’re literally surrounded by fear - from the media and those we come across. Of course, you’ll pick up on it. Just deal with your symptoms as Mel explains and when you feel better, try and keep your focus on any positives you can think of ❤️
Good morning Mel, hope you're feeling better than earlier today. I happen to be going through the same as you with transitioning my daughter into life at 19. I'm scared also. But I'm gonna remember your advice today forward so I don't get caught up into my anxiety of this new change,. Thank you so much for sharing what your going through 😊
Thank God i'm not alone in this.. sometimes i resolved my anxious the previous day and i functioned normally and finally after 2 days unable to sleep i can fall asleep.. but the next day waking up.. is like all hell let loose.. all the emotions coming back like that anxiousness waiting for me to wake beside my bed and I feel like i'm in a loop 😓 i will try this and thx u so much 😇 i'm gonna make 'responding to anxiety not reacting to it" my mantra 😁
Ya, I frequently have a feeling of utter doom in the mornings. It also seems to happen around the same time, 6am-ish. I still don't know why this is happening. I love your advice on brain dumps. I've used this technique for a couple of years now. It's a mess, but it works! I was wondering your thoughts on using CBD oil.
How does it make u feel when getting up in da morning. Me it get this feeling off doom or werid thinking what will go on today can't get up a good morning it's so hard.
Thankyou, 2020/21 has done a number on me, I slid into deep depression and anxiety. Morning is the worst, gripped in bed with fear, can't move. I'm going to 54321, take the dog out and try to push through it
Thank you, I needed this this morning. I had a little bout of depression a couple of weeks ago because of hormones and tiredness, and I can’t seem to shake it. I’ve started to try to pinpoint where the anxiety is coming from and my mind is trying to focus it on my boyfriend and it has started spiralling if he spends a few hours not responding to my last message, my mind has started to get really paranoid. Hence the anxiety this morning 😢 Stuggling to drag myself out of it. Right I’m off to make my bed, do some yoga, do a brain dump into my notebook. Thanks ❤
Hijack is a perfect word. That's so much what it feels like. Having experienced it so often myself, I could even hear it in your voice when you first started the vid. Morning anxiety is all too common, esp these days. Thanx for giving tools, not just words. You're actions speak so loud! Thx again!
🟥🟥 your video came at the top second, I came back from travel and it's been 30 days already and every morning I've been feeling extremely miserable more often, cuz Post travel sadness still not been fixed yet, USA homes are so empty at morning times that's very depressing....you think all the negatives at morning time , woman goes through that a lot . Great advice about -- get up and keep moving because one emotions will lead to another emotions. And that is so true, because if you stay on bed is still will not repair anything. Body moves things happen and emotions also change
Tried cold showers for 2 weeks and it is working. Gradually go from mild to cold and stay 2 min. Yes at first it is tough and then you get used to be calm after. Good luck.
Finally a video about morning anxiety 😭

I hear you.
Love this Deborah, thanks 🙏 hope you’re well on the road to recovery ❤️
I can relate..it's awful bit this video helps a lot..may you be fine and god bless you..be strong 🙏❤️
After hearing this...I am all set and prepared for tomorrow morning.
Edit : I was so prepared that I didn't sleep😂
I hate mornings :( ☹ 😑
Thank you Mel, you're amazing 💖 Your daughter is going to be happy 🍃
Ive been going through this. Its super hard. Has never happened before. Wish i knew whats going on. Thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing what your going through 😊
Thanks for the practical 6-step process! Who's going to try this out?
Mee
Me too! 👍
Thanks Mel. I love that you got straight to the point and shared how you felt. This is helping

Love your honesty, thank you.
What about depression, overwhelmed??
Same steps 🚶♂️?

Thsnks for this video Mel. Is always so hard to move on in the morning for me Love from Ireland 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Hey how are you now I'm also suffering from this 😭
Mel, I appreciate you so much. Thank you ❤️
Yes, this is a good plan. Thank you.
Thank you 🙏 I wake up anxious all the time.. I stArt blaming my relationship or my job. It’s not them. It’s patterns . Thank you for your video 💚
Such good advice and helpful to know that anxiety is so common. Sometimes you think it is just you!
Brilliant, will try this, thanks
Thank you so much for this. I need it this morning.
This is brilliant didn’t realise I do some of these things! So pleased I came across this I am going to try it In the morning!!
Thanks ❤
Mel you are an inspiration to many people. We are all in this together. Keep the faith! 😁 🙏
Thank you for the video 'morning anxiety' . V have anxiety early morning or late morning. Also v have it late midnight sometimes when v wakeup
Hijack is a perfect word. That's so much what it feels like. Having experienced it so often myself, I could even hear it in your voice when you first started the vid. Morning anxiety is all too common, esp these days. Thanx for giving tools, not just words. You're actions speak so loud! Thx again!
Thank you Mel! I hope you're well and staying safe!
Oh I understand your worry.
This is really heart touching. I'm having morning anxiety lately. You are beautiful! Thank you for the tips. All the best! Love from Shenzhen.
God Bless everyone.
Thank you mel robbins.. for sharing
Love the move your body then move your mind tips! Fantastic!
Tried cold showers for 2 weeks and it is working. Gradually go from mild to cold and stay 2 min. Yes at first it is tough and then you get used to be calm after. Good luck.
