Basically it's about projecting your aura outside of your body while containing it within a manageable range ...it requires lots of concentration (Phinks said smth about that in the manga's latest chapters if I remember correctly) so it would mean emitters (enhancers and manipulators being close) would be naturally better at using En to its full potential... but also for the strong nen users who aren't necessarily emitters they can still master it at a good enough level ...that would explain why 50m En users would be recognized as "nen masters" bc it's not really about your amount of raw aura (even tho it helps) but the technique could only be achieved through long training Kite being a conjurer, around 45m En is quite impressive so I imagine "Top 5 nen users" Ging must be on another level🤩 Zeno being an emitter and having years of training it's logical that he is in the top En users and is considered to have reached the highest level of mastery in the emitter category... Kite’s death was so fast, random and brutal. While I wanted to see the battle between him and Neferpitou, I’m somewhat pleased that they spared us the grisly heartbreak of having to witness it. I totally understand why the discussion at the end was so somber, Kite was a very cool and interesting character who I definitely wanted to stick around for awhile. He will not be forgotten by no means.

what happened is kite was helding his own agains pitou if you noticed they started the fight when it was dark and we see the fight end when the sun was out and pitou has few scratches on her face and legs so basicaly kite hold his own he was dodging pitou attacks but at the end run out of stamina and pitou decapitated his head she didt even think that he would die from that attacks she thought he would dodge but yeah he run out of stamina and just accpeted his death that why pitou wanted to fight him once more

The sheer juxtaposition between that wholesome 'you are light' scene, with Gon reassuring Killua, and then cutting to Pitou cradling Kite's head in their lap, is pretty damn chilling. This arc is pretty much a nightmare that you can't escape from - felt that way especially on my first watch. I mean that in mostly a good way, since it gets those feelings going :( (the Parker comment about wanting Machi to string Kite together again made me laugh, for reasons I can't explain 😅)

Just a tip of correction about how the "eating humans thing" works (there's no spoilers here): When a soldier or royal guards eats someone, nothing changes. So even if they eat someone strong they don't get stronger nor get nen However, when the Queen eats a strong human, her next kids will be stronger (in this case, since she already gave birth to all soldiers and guards, only the King will be stronger the more the queen eats)
I like to think of this as the end of part 1 of the Ant arc and what an end 😮 And Morel, makes such an entrance 😂 Always love to see how reactors get defensive of the boys when Morel comes in taking all kinds of smack 😆
Also big up to the person who made you guys watch the 1999 ver episodes. Kite's death hits way more as you feel like you've known him for longer. And thats good bcos you'll understand Gon's emotional journey more throughout the rest of this arc. Kite wasn't just some other mentor, but a direct connection to his dad, the catalyst to Gon becoming a Hunter as well as ofc Gon and Killua already blaming themselves for the situation.
This is the first anime I watched when I got back into anime about 5 years ago. It was a blessing and a curse. I was used to a textbook DBZ arc; enemy arrives, slaps some people around, training arc, someone goes 80% to 110% of their true powe blah blah blah Krillin dies again. This show is a great example of subverting expectations while still giving you some of those tried and true anime tropes.

The license is a stuck on a tree, and Gon picked it up offscreen (They showed it in the manga though). However, the 2011 version decided to also make it as a death flag 🙃That's why it's kinda weird, as Parker mentioned, that Kite forgot he had Ging's license inside his pocket ALL THIS TIME?!?!
Yeah, this arc is very dark and heavy and more harrowing moments are still to come. Young Killua and Gon are about to be tested like never before, their going to need your emotional support for this one.
Thus the count down to Gon finding out Kite's fate begins! Btw I can see why you guys keep thinking the arc is coming to an end. With long running anime like HxH, during big arcs like this, there tends to be a bunch of mini arcs within. So for example you're about to enter into one now which is about gon and killua facing off the two assassins.

I gotta disagree, other than the hunter exam (up till the last phase or 2) we've always seen the kids out of their element. After all while Morel and Nov are definitely brushing off how capable Gon and Killua are for being kids, they're right, Gon and Killua at the end of the day are still kids. I will say that they're definitely a metric ton further from their depth than even during the last arcs since the ants will actually target anyone and not have reasons not to harm the kids; the phantom troupe wanted to interrogate and then have Gon and Killua join, Hisoka had Hisoka reasons, the Zoldicks didn't feel threatened and Killua had enough influence to prevent his friends getting killed outright, ect. The whole point of the reminiscing (besides emotional pull) is to remind the audience that Gon and Killua at the end of the day have been extremely lucky to not have to pay the consequences of delving beyond their abilities, like Killua said, "we always seem to find the right people when we need them," but now their luck ran out.
I love this arc and this episode because it seems like a huge deviation. I loved the tension in you guys thinking they were gonna draw the Kite thing out and, for the audience, it's nope. I think Nicole was most sure he was still alive and battling which is why her reaction was the funniest.
Killua was right though. If they weren't there, Kite wouldn't lose his arm that moment. He'll react faster. But he's second late by commanding Gon and Killua to run. Though it wouldn't change a thing. Cause in a fight, Kite would always end up losing against Pitou.

Killua is right with his assessment that even with one arm lost, Kite is CONSIDERABLY stronger than Killua and Gon combined.
Also to comment on Kites En, and kinda show the difference in strength. Killuas grandpa said he could easily expand his en to 300m, and he was doing 100m looking for Chrollo in the Yorknew City arc.

But Nobunagas En is only that size, because it correlates perfectly with his Katana, and we don't really know about pouf. It's just that outside of looking at aura output and total aura, En is one of the few ways to make easy generalizations about someone's strength in nen, tho it should always taken with a grain of salt, if course. And to clarify, someone who is very strong in their nen, can still be weaker/worse than someone with less nen strength than them.
Killua can't even see the three reinforcements taking down just one Royal guard. Let's hope his judgment is wrong like they said and they are not the ones overconfident.

Kite’s “en” is what was stated in this show, the en that stretches far was Pitou’s and because Pitou’s “en” made a contact with Kite’s they both sensed each other.

Here is it. The chapter when everything start to go down. Poor Killua. We'll remember what your father said. There have been some ironic commentaries from the new characters.
The reason hunters have a secret hunter exam is so that they can learn nen and keep it a secret from the vast majority of the known world's population. Hunters who pass the public exam always find teachers because teachers are incentivized to do so through one to three star rank rewards. You need to train amazing hunters to earn even one star so quality of both teacher and student are crucial. It's done this way so you can't just cheese it and so you're much more likely to need to train many new hunters. It's also done because a lot of hunters want to at least give the newbies a fighting chance in the nen world since they're otherwise as good as naked. Or dead. Even hisoka attributes to this teaching process.
This part is especially hard hitting not because of the horrors that happen but moreso how human the reactions are. Everything you could have gotten so used to expecting in any anime or anything American made will not happen. The people crumble and break like a real person would and sometimes it seems like it wouldnt make sense or you get frustrated with them but you can feel their struggle so intimately because thats how a human would really react. Humanity plays a huge role in this arc and its all the more beautiful for it.
Watch the battle between Kite and Neferpitou be something along the lines of he was about to kill her but then he lost too much blood from losing his arm that he passed out before finishing her ... would make sense why she would want to fight him again. it just comes down to gon and killua not running when kite told them to and he had to sacrifice his arm for them.
Everyone always seems to overlook the color of gon's aura when he was about to attack pitou. That was the first glimpse into the power hiding within gon.
i am one of the people who thought kite was going to die as soon as i saw pitou take off his arm like that. if she can do that to a limb she can do it to his head too obviously. also it reminded me of the red queen from alice in wonderland like "off with his head!" 😅
unfortunately this is not the whole truth. kite lost his arm because pitou attacked gon and killiua. kite threw himself in between. at the end you could see that pitou also had injuries. not even (spoilers ...... ) the attack by Netero managed to do that.
Netero is an enhancer, his specialty is just raw speed and power. The two guys with him have two of the most useful nen abilities in the show, Knov especially.

he didnt draw it at random. the conjured clown is an extension of him, so it actually gave him that roll because he was in a situation where he was most likely to die. the rolls are random is just a restriction but remember that owners themselves can override restrictions in rare cases.
One thing: the reason why Gon was knocked out for so long was because Killua used Nen to hit him on the head Also, this is the episode that sparked Gon’s downfall and this is where the arc picks up And man, that “you are light” scene aid so bittersweet 🥲 16:07 trust me, Morgan, this was me when they showed Kite’s head like that but that shows how strong Pitou is
This is why chimera ant arc is my favorite and the best one in my opinion. Gon and Killua’s development from this moment on along with everything else that’s going to happen that I can’t spoil… when I finished it in the manga I was in TEARS. I couldn’t pick it up again for a few weeks lol People complain about the pace being slow, but I’m a slow burn kinda person. To me, I think the slow pace in the beginning is really beneficial to the absolute madness that’s to come.
I really enjoy the sudden switch of atmosphere in this episode, especially at the end going back from hopeful optimism to the sudden grim reality we just got into. I think it's just well done and pretty impactful and I can't get enough of it

Kite’s “en” is what was stated in this show, the en that stretches far was Pitou’s and because Pitou’s “en” made a contact with Kite’s they both sensed each other.

To be honest even if Gon and Killua return now to help Kite, they would be destroyed by Neferpitou... They have to become stronger
The reason hunters have a secret hunter exam is so that they can learn nen and keep it a secret from the vast majority of the known world's population.
Hunters who pass the public exam always find teachers because teachers are incentivized to do so through one to three star rank rewards. You need to train amazing hunters to earn even one star so quality of both teacher and student are crucial. It's done this way so you can't just cheese it and so you're much more likely to need to train many new hunters.
It's also done because a lot of hunters want to at least give the newbies a fighting chance in the nen world since they're otherwise as good as naked. Or dead.
Even hisoka attributes to this teaching process.
This part is especially hard hitting not because of the horrors that happen but moreso how human the reactions are.
Everything you could have gotten so used to expecting in any anime or anything American made will not happen. The people crumble and break like a real person would and sometimes it seems like it wouldnt make sense or you get frustrated with them but you can feel their struggle so intimately because thats how a human would really react. Humanity plays a huge role in this arc and its all the more beautiful for it.
Watch the battle between Kite and Neferpitou be something along the lines of he was about to kill her but then he lost too much blood from losing his arm that he passed out before finishing her ...

Everyone always seems to overlook the color of gon's aura when he was about to attack pitou. That was the first glimpse into the power hiding within gon.

i am one of the people who thought kite was going to die as soon as i saw pitou take off his arm like that. if she can do that to a limb she can do it to his head too obviously. also it reminded me of the red queen from alice in wonderland like "off with his head!" 😅
unfortunately this is not the whole truth. kite lost his arm because pitou attacked gon and killiua. kite threw himself in between. at the end you could see that pitou also had injuries. not even (spoilers ...... ) the attack by Netero managed to do that.
This episode really sets the tone for the rest of the arc. This isn’t like Greed Island anymore.

To everyone, Kite really isn't permanently dead. Did you know how Kite died? It was because one of his ability, which allows him to be reborn. He drew that ability at random and was reborn alongside the King. So with this perspective you can say kite didn't die
he didnt draw it at random. the conjured clown is an extension of him, so it actually gave him that roll because he was in a situation where he was most likely to die. the rolls are random is just a restriction but remember that owners themselves can override restrictions in rare cases.

One thing: the reason why Gon was knocked out for so long was because Killua used Nen to hit him on the head
Also, this is the episode that sparked Gon’s downfall and this is where the arc picks up

This is why chimera ant arc is my favorite and the best one in my opinion. Gon and Killua’s development from this moment on along with everything else that’s going to happen that I can’t spoil… when I finished it in the manga I was in TEARS. I couldn’t pick it up again for a few weeks lol
People complain about the pace being slow, but I’m a slow burn kinda person. To me, I think the slow pace in the beginning is really beneficial to the absolute madness that’s to come.

I really enjoy the sudden switch of atmosphere in this episode, especially at the end going back from hopeful optimism to the sudden grim reality we just got into. I think it's just well done and pretty impactful and I can't get enough of it
