These tips could not have come at a better time, I have been learning to play the Ukulele for a relatively short time and your videos have really helped me a lot, I can already feel confident in some melodies, but just this week I have not been able to advance with the rhythm of reggae, I felt frustrated and annoyed at not being able to keep up with the rhythm. It is true you have to be patient and celebrate those small advances THANKS for so much Katie
Oh I’m so glad this helped! I’m sorry you felt frustrated this week. It can be really deflating when trying to learn something, so I’m happy that this video made you feel better. Most likely, we’re the hardest on ourselves than anyone else. Celebrate each bit of progress. You can do it!
These points are so relatable. Catch myself often with wanting to be further ahead, but it is perfectly normal to be where I am. And then there are days it feels like nothing clicks, and other days it does. Thanks for these series!
Yes M.M.M. Awesome funny intro, trouble spot is solved. Yeah, when multitasking my rhythm wanders off, great hearing to slow down and focus. Thank you for these practice reminders, totally agree, aim for improvement, not perfection. Thanks again for your teachings Katie 🎸🔆🎸
thank you for the 16 lesson, it has been a great learning experience. came in to learn about more strumming pattern, and got away with more than what i came for. you're a fantastic teacher. god bless.
Great advice Katie! Just started learning the ukelele (2 months in) but my coordination along with the multitude of chords and strumming patterns is definitely testing my patience lol However, watching your videos is a massive help, thank you!
You can do it! I totally understand where you're coming from. It can be very frustrating, but don't worry. No one is keeping score, and no one is expecting you to be a certain level within a certain time frame :). you've got this!
This series taught me that my struggle to transition to Em is worse than I thought. Grrrr. And in general, I have stopped counting. So accents are also a struggle, which I can work on.
You're not the only one that struggles with transitioning to an Em, so don't feel bad :). I actually start my ukulele 201 course on my patreon page with that exact concept because it was so highly requested. It's OK to grow at your own pace. You've got this!
It actually took me 1 1/2 months to strum but still need practice after many months of practicing i finally got it.it makes me frustating when i first played it and i also dont know anything to play a uke.i thought that it only took a week to do it. It takes time so it just practice and practice.and now its been 6 months that i first time i played my uke,and i can finally play easy songs that i want to learn. My tip is to play everyday of playing uke within 15-30 min or more longer than that.
Just found your channel today - super happy for that - this might have been mentioned numerous times, so i am sorry to ask - what is the thought on the felt picks for the strumming hand? First uke was yesterday - a baritone...and I am a bass player first and foremost and picks aren't as popular - so i am use to finger playing..but not finger strumming.
In every video you're inspire and give really practices lessons. 🎶❤️ But I'm learning too slooow, it's disappointing me. I can play only simple chords, fingerpicking style is really hard. One year of practice, almost every day and that's my result(
First of all, thanks for watching. Second of all, it's ok to grow slow. I tell myself this a lot. Sometimes I compare myself to others because they are further along than I am. I feel that way about work, life, motherhood, you name it. I have to tell myself these things myself as well. There is no there "there". Being here and not "there" is hard, but you have come a long way. So many people buy an instrument and never even try to learn how to play it. Serve with the gift that you have been given. God takes care of the rest. Take it one small step at a time. You can do it!

Could I get your opinion on Mitchell brand ukuleles? Please. I'm thinking about getting an MU80X-CE but there's not a lot of info that I can find out about it.
Hi and thanks for watching. To be perfectly honest, I haven't tried a lot of Mitchell Ukes, and I've never tried the MU80X-CE. If I haven't tried the uke, I can't give my honest or educated opinion. I do have a uke buyers guide and a how to upgrade your uke video. I'll link those below and they have many sound samples and specs from a variety of different brands. Thanks for 16 days of good lessons and advice. Be here and not there. Work it until you it really does work. Thanks, Katie.
Thank you so much for joining me on the 16 day marathon! I really appreciate it, and I'm glad that it helped.

Just found this...will make more effort!
Thanks for watching :).
I have small fingers so it's difficult for me to even do an E :(
The transition to and from E would be another thing, only if I could hold an E :(
