That's a great combination of the most recent buzzwords from flankers' names! Well done 👍 Personally, I would give it some seasonal touch, by adding "Platine Reserve Privé (2024)" at the end, to be revised next year 😄Cheers
@@J_M_E_83I hope you're joking. You do know Ash had his own fragrance line Galleria Parfums and now is creatively directing several fragrances with Michael Malul, right?
@SmellsAddicted A infinite amount of monkeys and an infinite amount of typewriters they will eventually write out the entire works of Shakespeare. From what I've heard, Ash's fragrances are pants. Do you think every food reviewer can simply become a chef just because they scoffed a lot of grub? Gimme a break 😆
So when I was just getting into the hobby (after Mugler eliminated its plethora of A*Men flankers), I had read that A*Men Pure Malt was a good fragrance to try. Not knowing what flankers were, I went to the local fragrance shop and grabbed the original A*Men. Information like this is helpful to someone, regardless of where the rest of us are on this journey
10:04 I get it, Ash. ralph lauren and Dunhill are the firm and Aqua Di Gio and Luna Rosa, A*Men are the product. Here's how to identify a collection from a flanker. When can we expect flankers on Terra Nova MML? ☝️🤓🔥
I started purchasing/collecting fragrances when you could choose from an EDT and and EDP and with certain lines there might appear a Parfum. It seems that by the late 90s flankers began to appear. Some were extraits or extremes. These were scents that you could recognize the origin scent in still. Then what we mostly know as flankers began to appear - same origin name but the scents began to really move away from the origin scent. These days there is a really mixed up association of flankers to the origin scent some line will move away from the origin scent for a few years and then a flanker will seeming out of the blue return to the original line dna - D&G Light Blue comes to mind. I say all of this not in judgment of the state of fragrance, more to reflect on the complexity I’ve experienced with scent.
What do you make of the whole Givenchy Gentleman…universe.😅😂 Did I miss a mention of the original Sauvage from 1966? -those 2 lines had me really confused, stopping and starting decades apart with the same name and then flankers coming..🤷🏽♀️
BTW, Luna Rossa isn't as complicated as you think. They are all based around Luna Rossa, which means Red Moon. From what I've read, Luna Rossa is a speed boat that is sponsored by Prada. I believe the boat is primarily black with red. Also, to emphasize the name, the nozzle of the atomizer is always red...like a tiny red moon. Update: It's actually a sailboat that they race...not a speedboat.
1 more comment: Some lines have their flankers released so far apart in time that people forget there was an original. For example, Drakkar Noir released in 1982 is a flanker of Drakkar released in 1972,. Most people know of Drakkar Noir, but they don't even know that Drakkar even exists. Then, there's Drakkar Intense released in 2022. I wonder if Guy Laroche is thinking of another flanker in 2032 🤔🤣
The only flanker question I need answered is this. Okay, Versace came out with Versace Pour Homme, then the flankers Oud Noir and Dylan Blue came out in the same bottles. The women's version, Versace Pour Femme, has some flankers. Oud Oriental... same bottle. Dylan Blue... completely different bottle. Like totally different. Then Versense that is in the same bottle style as Pour Femme and Oud Oriental is apparently not a flanker. It just confuses and kind of bugs me.
This is my favorite flanker channel.
The original is quite a bit older but still holds up very well.
I can't believe they reformulated the Original Channel Gents scents, thank god for this flanker!
Petition for Ash to change the channel name to Gents Scents Elixir Absolute Parfum Intense Eau Extrème
a bit overkill, but I support it :))
I support it as long as Extrème includes the accent 😂
@@SmellsAddicted I corrected it 😅
I thought that was the name of his channel?

I enjoy the educational aspect. Thank you so much as a new to cologne game guy
"The gent scents class"- Today's topic is fragrance flankers! Great content.
Yeah, real classy 👌 😁
Great video!!! Very well explained! 👍🏼
it's easier to push something in an existing line and it costs less in terms of marketing in order to set it off
This. Very common for a products ad campaign to cost more than the entire cost of the product, to make, package and ship.
100%. Somebody should tell Ash because I don't think he actually knows what he's talking about

Great video Ash
Great video with some great choices in there and I enjoyed it and have a blessed day
If im starting my collection, this video explains a lot what a flanker is. Nice video. Oh by the way, we have a quiz about it tomorrow. 😊
I forgot to study, and the dog ate my homework 😱

A good example of a line that produced a gazillion of flankers is the Davidoff cool water line
A great to illustrate these relationships is the Hugo Boss The Scent line. I tried explaining flankers to my wife and she immediately lost interest 😂
Awesome Umbrella Academy clip!!!

I love all ADGs ❤️

You should have mentioned the original Polo, adding a little kink in the Ralph Lauren Supreme example.
Would you be able to let us know how the PI flankers were, good or nah? Mercedes Benz had a good collection to, I only got my hands on one.
Dangit! I hope there isn't a quiz after this 😅😅😅!!!
Has Ralph Lauren got a Diana Ross fragrance to go with the Supremes?

After elixir, you have to go to Potion or Witches Brew Intense concentrations
I wonder how many flankers were made on the pursuit of the original scent. They just stash away the recipe for a later date.

It's also a great way to sell the overstock on a glass bottle design and use up unused mods. Just another way of penny pinching in uncertain times.

You meant that le male le perfum is just like the le male original, but in different colored bottle??? Didn’t get it.
Flanker after flanker after flanker 😂😂😂
The purpose of Flankers:
To make marketing easy and make collecting confusing 😉
I think I got it, but just in case, can you say that again 🙂
NARDO!!!👉👉
Flankers are what perfumers spit out when they run out of ideas and imagination.
Or when they cannot choose. Why bother? Sell all the options as flankers.
ADG is by far the gravest sinner when it comes to flankers. LITERALLY dropping flankers WITHIN flankers 🤦♂️
YSL is pretty bad with L'Homme/La Nuit de L'Homme
I'm going to say Gaultier is the worst. Le Maleception.
Mugler is pretty bad as well. Unfortunately, they seem to agree since they seem to be discontinuing the A*Men line.
I feel like Cool Water and One Million definitely have a shot here. And Hugo Boss Bottled.
I just came here to give this Chooch a thumbs down for always being lazy.
Why they do that??? Just to collect money 😂
Flankers are spankers
Flankers=cash grabs
