Knew most of it but just wanted to compliment you on it. First off I really like how the segments flowed into one another. Really helps with players not only learning, but comprehension of the why. This ensures that basically laziness is the only way to fail. Secondly the editing was spot on. The footage was directly related to the topic currently being discussed and, just like the tutorial itself, flowed quite seamlessly. Thirdly(?) your nuanced details/examples show how much you truly appreciate the game. Which then translates to viewer appreciation, and thus a community grows just a bit bigger and better. Thank you
@@Stodeh well you did a fantastic job with the videos. I have learned a lot more. I'm decent at sniping but you just pushed me that much further. Just the other day I had a good shot lined 2 headshots....should of recorded it, but that was awesome. I actually did this on the battle of the bulge old times deal.
Summary: - Don't stop moving, only stop to shot - Don't lie down, only when necessary behind cover - When enemies are incoming - fall back, find another cover behind, and don't just wait until they get closer - Always switch to a secondary weapon when the enemy is close. You can try to shoot with a sniper rifle and then switch to secondary if the enemy is not too close. - Scope in for a couple of seconds, then remove the scope and look around without the scope for a few seconds - Don't hold your breath until u r making a shot - Aim for the head if the enemy is not moving, aim for the body if they are moving - When fighting multiple enemies, always try to take down the enemy who's aiming at you first - Best spots are places where you're overlooking the enemies or where you can aim at places with high traffic - Try to find spots where you can aim & shoot from multiple angles, like different sides of a cover, multiple windows, etc. - When behind cover, always peek at a different angle every single time - Versus enemy snipers, keep moving until they make their shot, then immediately stop, aim and shoot - When moving around the map, avoid open spaces, choose a route with cover points - Sniper bullets in bf2042 often have significant bullet drop & slow speed - Try to stick to the same sniper rifle build for some time - Recommends DXR over NTW-50 for sniping infantry - If you are overwhelmed by vehicles - switch to the NTW - Recommends Mackay (with a grapple hook) for aggressive sniping and Angel for defensive sniping Such a great guide! Thank you!

The fact that the 6x and the 10x have no mil dots or stadia lines is infuriating to me, as a Sniper main and former actual Army sniper. The lack of spotting scope equipment is bad enough, but giving us completely useless optics is just no bueno. I do love the feel of sniping in general in this game, having decently realistic ballistics is sooo much fun for me.
@@crazierthorn10 that absolutely works for any scope with mil dots or stadia lines, but the 6x and 10x have neither, which makes accurate engagement pretty rough. It’s just a steeper learning curve. Other than that though sniping in this game feels soooo good.
I am not a fan of the sniping in this game. It doesn't feel that satisfying or lethal. Body shot. They have half health most ars do that damage with 1 extra shot at medium range and the fact you cant dial is annoying to me.
I actually like the idea of running Casper as a sniper. Being able to take cover and see surroundings with a drone PLUS the ability to take out a tank with the Drone/C5 combo is helpful. Ammo can be picked up from dead bodies if you really need it, and you have the intel advantage over mid range fighters around you.
Irish is also a decent specialist for Sniping, crouching and scoping through the transparent glass section on his shield allows you to line up headshots safely, pop up and take the shot, and then crouch back down behind his shield. His trophy system will also stop grenades thrown by enemies to flush you out from cover

At 6:20 Stodeh shows a subtle example of scanning your surroundings when reloading. He knows that he will continue to kill the players at the truck trailer and that they are not going anywhere since they are pinned and unaware of his position. So, he uses his reload time to see if there are any there are any closer threats to his right. It may seem counterintuitive to take your eyes of the targets, but this is how high level snipers play and avoid sneaky lone wolf flanks.
Nice! I really appreciate this. In BF4 I’d say I was in the 95th percentile in terms of sniping, but every game after that I have struggled immensely. This is the first how to sniping video I’ve watched to help me and I have no need to look for any other videos. Thanks!!!
Good tips!! I believe that “Never prone” thing is for those who plays a agressive sniping. For long range sniping, there is a correct use for the prone.
Agreed. I can't play with "never prone" style while being a sniper. It's hard to hit enemies. I always lay down on the ground usually very far away with 12 scope, trying to find a target and kill them. After killing, leaving the area and find the new one.
Another thing to add to his long range info is if you get comfortable enough knowing the distance to drop ratio, you can use the Q spot to get the distance before taking any shots. Its an alternative way of long range shooting especially if you are running low on ammo. Eventually with enough practice and perhaps map knowledge, its all second nature.
Faulk is my go to operator. She has infinite stims so you can run c5 instead of needing to run a health box. C5 is the best way to destroy vehicles and it can be thrown much farther than BF4. As for ammo you can equip 3 different kinds of ammo in the plus menu so you dont really need a resupply. The only thing you lose compared to angel is armor.
@@Kurtizzz i really like him, but if you have the proximity sensor unlocked I'd say it is better and faster than Casper with Angel you can resupply them

In terms of people who sniper, you're definitely the best person I've come across! All these tips are suggestions that you've given during your live streams and have made me a better sniper in Battlefield and other video games.
Thank you for these tips. i know that not everyone who watched this video know how or why to implement some of these things, but your presentation makes it easy to get better and start using these more advanced techniques. Thank you.
Going prone is probably a good idea if you're not going head to head with another sniper. Standing up just opens you up to getting shot by rifle fire. In prone, there are a lot more objects to block your glint from everyone, and you can get into some tight cover to avoid incoming fire more easily. Prone does make you harder to detect and lowers your profile, so it's just bad advice to tell people to never do it.
Not really, prone people are very easy to spot most of the time because of the glint, the red light marker and the bullet tracer. Most of them always use the same spots where they have good visibility (mostly on buildings, hills or cranes) so I always look at those spots for snipers. Always keep moving and use cover is the best advice. You never know if a sniper is looking at you. You also limit your situational awareness and your movement range. If someone is in you back, you can't turn quick. Also try not to snipe for the other side of the map. Killing people from a 100m away is much easier than like 500m.
@@Snookray Here are the two main reasons why sniping sucks in BF2042. - Slow and blurry ADS: As soon as you ADS, the whole screen becomes blurry. This makes snipping in close quarters a nightmare. Also, everything outside the scope is a blurry mess. - When you shoot and then switch to your sidearm, when you switch back to your sniper rifle, it takes like 2 seconds before your character starts chambering another round.
@@WrexBF ye the switching is slow for sure i've been playing more at distance and not noticed it as much because the confidence in my aim has completely gone. I had the same issue in bfv with mouse input lag and now again.
The gameplay that's showing exactly what you're talking about when you mention it is amazing! I'm a bf vet so I don't really need this video but this will help a lot of people out!
That's one thing I've noticed about all youtubers. There's all these tips and tricks videos that are like "DO THIS ONE TRICK TO INSTANTLY IMPROVE" and it's some obscure tip for some situation that occurs maybe once a match. But nobody covers the basics. And I guess I understand why, like if you're at a level where you can be making these highlights and vids on expert level stuff you probably don't think about it very much if at all, but the thing that'd actually give the most people the biggest boost in performance is teaching them basic pathing, positioning and good habits. Most people forget we all learn things like this on our own, And none of it is actual common sense. Smaller mechanical tricks and applicable decision making and the likes would help people alot. I kinda wish I had an internet speed that could upload videos without taking weeks for a couple minutes or I'd probably do it myself, it'd be good content
As a battlefield sniper veteran with a K.D of 2.5 on Battlefield V, I found your guide very helpful still, since I keep struggling on Battlefield 2042. You got my subscription.
@@Oznerol1234 I know right? Lol For what it’s worth, I’m getting better now that I started unlocking the attachments. Make sure to always select the long barrel .
You covered all basic points of sniping in BF and the way you explain it very helpful to anyone player who is new to BF. Lastly great video and thank for letting me know what specialist to use & why.
It's really nice to see creators starting to come out with guides and tips videos. Seen too many patch notes videos and, "this game is going to be dead in 2 months" videos floating around TH-cam.
1. Spotting 2. Assists 3. Infiltrate behind enemy lines (spawn beacon) set up, go in the middle of the map at a high point. Now u can spot, assist, kill and make your squad spawn always to the closest objective to the enemy base.
Habitually practicing the Battlefield primary fire pistol swap trick for body shotting people is probably a good one to mention but I'm not sure how good it is in 2042 if the bullet velocity is weak. It was always a habit of sniping at someone and immediately pulling the pistol for a follow up pistol bullet to finish them off.
Liked mate, good vid..and proud I'm doing most of this already to build up my sniping game. I agree with your point about sticking to one rifle and attachments, makes a big difference over time in terms of consistency 😎👍
The first tip... I'm sorry to inform you, but if I lay down in a specific place, with a scope that doesn't reflect. I can lay there as long as I have ammo. But I agree that if you are using a high zoom level scope, you should be moving. What I like to do is right after a shot, crouch. You never know if an enemy sniper saw the reflection of your scope and is aiming at your head.
I knew it all, already because it applies to all games as it is basic engagement theory. Here's a like and a sub. I like well-articulated game guides that are concise and informative. Thinking of getting this game, and your channel will help me decide. Thanks!
The very first tip actually fixed my sniping gameplay I was trying to use the snipers like the railgun to return fire while moving as soon as I started standing still to take the shot I was hitting WAY more
Wow, hints on sniping from one of the best battlefield snipers of all time. Juicy! 😊 I understood part of the hints already more or less before watching from common (tactical) sense, playing Battlefield many hours, and even a little bit of shooting experience in RL. But your guide is more comprehensive and builds a good foundation to build a training routine. My problem seems to be the competent execution of the actions, slow target acquisition, lack of accuracy when aiming quickly, and lastly dying sometimes faster than the enemies due to suboptimal positioning - probably due to mistakes reading the dynamics of the battle and frontline movements. Thus, too often I get surprised by a player flanking me while I thought of being in a relatively safe position. And lastly I seem too often make a bad choice or estimate which target is more dangerous for me. Shooting an unsuspecting target while another started hunting me and giving away my position and class... I guess many of these things come with experience, but also skill and talent need to be paired with hard work... I try to avoid such mistakes, but the fame can be too fast for me to move and shoot successfully as an aggressive moving sniper. Maybe I need another 1000 hours to get yet better, as I seem to have hit a glass wall and might even be knocking in my skill ceiling while being barely average in terms of K/D rates, etc. Lost a little bit the fun with sniping.
The only thing I hate about the DXR-1 is the space it takes in the screen. I dont know why it feels much bigger, or higher, than the SWS. Also, it would be great if we could remove the bipod on it. Great video Stodeh
When I was a 50 gunner they always preached "stationary to moving, close to far, discounts over vehicles. You shoot the guy closest to you that isn't moving because if he isn't moving it means he's going to take a shot so you need to take him out first. Close is more of a threat. And discounts have AT ability so they are a far greater threat than a vehicle due to ability to maneuver and displace. Real life tactics work in games sometimes
Small tips for using Angel: His "armor plate thing" can replenish ammo too, so you don't even need to equip ammo box. Just toss that thing to your feet and you're good to go. P.S. love the quality content of yours, easy subs for me! keep up the great work.
I do enjoy sniping even though I find it hard. Was banging my head on the wall with frustration this weekend trying to understand my misses and suddenly you've dropped this video. I'll be working my way through these tips carefully. I notice when you're playing you work against the scope movement between successive shots to bring the reticle up to where you want it to be for follow up. Is this something you have to learn for each gun because they are different or is it simply ingrained? You must be predicting opponent movement between shots and I have no idea how you do that :D. Awesome video. Thanks!
Wow, this just blew my mind. Everything I thought I knew about snipping is a lie!! I’m just getting into battlefield and I will definitely be practicing in the manner that you recommended. Thanks!!
About scopes. I highly recommend to use 10x scope on SWS-10 because markings on it are corresponding with weapon bullet ballistics if you using high power rounds and long barrel.
i’m very new to the game. Just started using snipers. Whenever it’s close quarters i just use my pistol cause i’m not gonna risk a no scope. I’m actually doing really well
Great guide, I love it. My ultimate power move for those sniper battles though is to hold my position (their 1st shot usually misses or just damages bc they're still moving), then I nab the hs 💪
I’m new to battlefield at all. It’s really tough for me and confusing (I’m coming from warzone & call of duty). The maps are huge, so I would like to train myself to be a sniper in this game. Thank you for your video I will work on it!
I personally use Casper as a mid range anti flank/sniper. I run spawn beacon for the team and put it close to points so they can keep pushing. Sensor grenade if I'm getting pushed. I use the drone to keep track of flanks and snipers. I'm not as aggressive as you so he fits my play style
This is the best video I've ever seen on sniping in Battlefield it made me really believe I could be this good but I have a long way to go never been good at it just okay great video.
I started using Casper because he looked like the sniper.. but now I love the drone and use him even when I don't snipe.. I use it to see where people are, track them when they get close or even peak other snipers behind cover.
Never used snipers tbh, never been good at it but this could’ve just changed my mind, maybe now it’s time to give it a proper try, keep up the good content matey 👍

Great guide. I've only been playing BF2042 for about a year but I suck at sniping so rarely do it. This helped me understand why!!
I'm sorry but sniping in this game is trash.
Rated top10 worst game ever on steam lol - it just launched
difficult to tell how much i'm missing by and the input lag/low framerate makes sniping hard in this game for me.
I’ve had a lot of success proning with the 4x scope as there is no glint. You’d be surprised how many people will completely overlook you.
The gameplay that's showing exactly what you're talking about when you mention it is amazing! I'm a bf vet so I don't really need this video but this will help a lot of people out!
I have watched a lot of "how to snipe" videos. This video has some of the best, practical advice I have seen. Well done.
Sniping was so good in bfv
Cant hit shit on bf2042
@@Oznerol1234 I know right? Lol
For what it’s worth, I’m getting better now that I started unlocking the attachments. Make sure to always select the long barrel .
You covered all basic points of sniping in BF and the way you explain it very helpful to anyone player who is new to BF. Lastly great video and thank for letting me know what specialist to use & why.
A lot of great tips. I've been so tunnel visioned about class appropriate weapons, I hadn't really considered mixing it up like this. Thanks!
Amazing! Thanks for the guide, so many bad habits I've had without realizing and I could never figure out on my own! ❤
I'm glad to see Stod's YT content doing well
It's really nice to see creators starting to come out with guides and tips videos. Seen too many patch notes videos and, "this game is going to be dead in 2 months" videos floating around TH-cam.
I've already played laggy battlefield 2042 so much i come to youtube, watch your video for 3 mins and already want to play again, thankyou :)
for someone just staring in 2042, this was invaluable. thank you
Finnaly after 5000+ hours of sniping the legend has spoken ....we have been waiting for this.
Thank you good sir!!!!
Never really tried sticking with a sniper class before but after watching this I'm going to give it a go
1. Spotting 2.
Because of you I kinda forgot how to play with other guns after all these years. Thank you Stodeh :)
The holy saint of sniping. Thank you for the thorough guide. It's amazing
I didn’t know anything about sniping in this game. Thank you sir. 🎉
Liked mate, good vid..and proud I'm doing most of this already to build up my sniping game. I agree with your point about sticking to one rifle and attachments, makes a big difference over time in terms of consistency
😎👍
This is my first time seeing your videos. I'm a die hard Battlefield fan. Your video was "PERFECTION" Awesome job. Your teaching skill over build.
I like the honest video (includingsome misses as realistic). Thanks for the video. This is awesome!
I knew it all, already because it applies to all games as it is basic engagement theory. Here's a like and a sub. I like well-articulated game guides that are concise and informative. Thinking of getting this game, and your channel will help me decide. Thanks!
best BF sniper i've ever seen, if you've ever wanted anyone to make a guide, its Stodeh
The very first tip actually fixed my sniping gameplay I was trying to use the snipers like the railgun to return fire while moving as soon as I started standing still to take the shot I was hitting WAY more
Wow, hints on sniping from one of the best battlefield snipers of all time. Juicy! 😊
I understood part of the hints already more or less before watching from common (tactical) sense, playing Battlefield many hours, and even a little bit of shooting experience in RL.
That dosent resuply gadgets and grenades tho. Better call in the loadout drop for that or just run ammo box
Thanks!
Just started playing my free 10 hours of 2042 and this guide helped. Well done, too.
Wow, this just blew my mind. Everything I thought I knew about snipping is a lie!! I’m just getting into battlefield and I will definitely be practicing in the manner that you recommended. Thanks!!
Been waiting for you to drop one of these since your aggressive recon days in bf4. Appreciate ya dude!
I have a feeling sniping is about to get harder thanks to this excellent guide. Thanks Stodeh....
Is it just me that prefers the SWS-10 over the DXR-1? The slower bullet velocity actually feels better for some reason.
Just one simple thing such as standing absolutely still after moving around to take my shot has improved my sniping so much damn
Finally i found someone as good as me at sniping ... !
Good job brother
Dude great breakdown. I'm positive alot of people aren't aware of these tactics even if they have been playing for years.
You what I was using NWT 50 and I had some crazy shots but difficult 😞 to snipe ..Now after watching the vid I’m definitely switching.Great vid
I’m new to battlefield at all. It’s really tough for me and confusing (I’m coming from warzone & call of duty). The maps are huge, so I would like to train myself to be a sniper in this game. Thank you for your video I will work on it!
practice with the ai bots in solo & co-op, you can unlock attachments for the snipers and practice your shot
Thank you for your feedback!
@@KC-kp9nq no problem, good luck out there, guy
Extremely helpful, you hit a lot of points I didn’t know.
9:00 that flank was pure genius, made non-AI look like bots 😳🤣
Thank you for this! It's about time you posted this :D
I can tell you took a lot of time to make this and it’s so to the point. Love it! Thanks for sharing this knowledge.
Never used snipers tbh, never been good at it but this could’ve just changed my mind, maybe now it’s time to give it a proper try, keep up the good content matey 👍
