Buy the xl 5. 30 mph is enought to learn, The parts can be upgraded and you'll learn how to fix your car.. the vxl at 50mph is a mess for a newbie. And a wreck/ busted car waiting to happen
I used a blx100 esc I had from an arrma, hobbystar 3660 4300kv 35$. Nice little setup and stays super cool. Incredibly fast on 2s. I bought the 159$ brushed version. Sub 200$ I feel is a steal for what it is.
Hi great video. I have the XL5 I love it. Can you put any brushless system in the xr5 in or work okay? I have a 60 amp ESC and 3000KV motor. It's all hobby wing. Gonna use the Traxxas radio and servo. I am shocked that that transmission can handle all that power.
Awesome comparison! I was looking to get started in the hobby and I was wondering what you'd recommend. I am going to be driving on mostly dirt and grass. I was thinking about getting either the rustler or the Slash, but I am open to anything. What would you recommend? Thanks
I normally try not to express my opinion, just show RC'S against each other and let people decide. Here's a video of rustler vs slash..... th-cam.com/video/QpZ7R-d6R48/w-d-xo.html Whispering......................................................................................... rustler
I got the Xl5 one just because in gonna upgrade but I get a free Battery and charger out of it for when I'm on the road. I'll get a cheap 3s and charger off ebay for at 🏡 home
Where did you get that ramp, it looks like it's light and not too expensive which is what I'm looking for! Everything else I've found is either- build your own wood ramp (heavy) or heavy duty expensive ramps made for bikes and stuff
Amazon, but they have discontinued this ramp. It's a shame because I got both ramps for $99. I've looked for more ramps and it is a bare market. Someone needs to start making a rc ramp that's affordable.
This is not a let's make it fair test, this was a test to show the top performance of each vehicle against each other. To show the difference of performance vs cost. The xl5 cannot run on 3s so it was tested at its top level. If I ran them both on 2s it would hold back the performance of the vxl. It would be like racing a Olympic runner but only letting him use one leg.....these are both great cars just with different cost and performance levels. Thanks for watching and commenting hope you have a great day.
The whole point is to compare the two so people know what people would be getting for their money. A lot of people new to the hobby are torn between the brushed and brushless versions and this shows the difference between the two.
Yeah, it's a great RC. I was surprised by how well it did for a brushed motor rc against the VXL. It wasn't much slower in the grass and it is a lot easier to control. It's my daughter's car and she likes it above all the other vehicles we have. Well worth the money.
@@FatherandSonHavingFun yeah I watched the video when she picked it out. It is great video i agree with her. You just earned a new subscriber love the videos.
You can buy them with or without. I recommend buying the car by itself then buying the battery and charger separately, because the give a car charger with the combo kit. Most people would rather have the wall ac charger to charge in their home. Thanks for watching and commenting hope you have a great day.
I got a bare traxxas Rustler chassis, I plan to do a build and I just got a transmission and I was wondering which mounting screws to get for the transmission.👍 If anyone wants to see the build or other builds checkout my channel.
I bought a Rustler vxl. I upgraded it way to much, and now it finds itself going by me at 80MPH!
I agree with everything you said except for the screw issue no matter what kind you have they all strip
Awesome comparison, I’ve worn out the titan motor in my rustler after a year of running.
At least they aren't too expensive to replace. Thanks for watching and commenting hope you have a great day.

For sure great upgrade.
The end was so funny 😂
Yeah sometimes we struggle making videos and save it for the end....LOL
Get the brushed and put that $100 towards a castle 4s set up ,a 5000 mah 4s battery fits perfect with a lil trim 👌

Nice comparison! Can't go wrong with either, depending on your needs! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, yeah they both are great vehicles. Thanks for watching.
I'm saving up to get my first hobby grade RC car, I'm gonna try to get the Traxxas Rustler VXL w/ TSM 2wd
Great choice, hopefully it won't be long till you get it. Thanks for watching and commenting hope you have a great day.
You should trust me I just got one today and these are amazing!
@@idkwhattoputasmyname2485 Oh cool, I'm still trying to find a job to pay for it because I am 14 at the moment
Yeah I’m 13 but I’ve been saving for 9 and a half months and I finally got enough, persistence is everything my friend!
Good luck!

The true test should have been both with same size battery.

in my opinion it is not a fair comparison of course the vxl is going to win it is faster but that is my opinion no hate i love the channel keep it up.

Can you tell me the make a model of the radar gun and where you got it?Thank you.
th-cam.com/video/lT1gHdX9-1k/w-d-xo.html here you go...
Does your vxl have the stability control? Mine does and it drives incredibly straight even over snow
Yes it does.
You run that VXL stock with a 3s?
Yes...
30MPH is good speed and you won't break much... 3S is a parts destroyer
What are the best tiers for off road and highway
Is it worth the $400 not including the battery to get the vxl?
The VXL is $270 plus battery, here in the U.S. and yes it's worth every penny 😁
@@FatherandSonHavingFun Well in my country it's unfortunately $400, actually the Xl-5 rustler is $300 here. So I just don't know if it's worth it
$100 difference is well worth the extra power, the upgraded suspension, and hex screws instead of Phillips head.
@@FatherandSonHavingFun Alright thanks so much for the advice
They also have different transmissions
Do the Traxxas rustlers come with batteries and chargers

What ramp is that and where can I buy it? Thanks
Unfortunately they have discontinued this ramp. Which sucks because it was a great affordable ramp.
Does the batteries for the Vxl matter to hit 70mhp
Yes, Traxxas says you need a 3s 8000+ mah battery.
Yes need 31/76 with 3s lipo to get 70mhp
Mph
And a good bit of road to do it.
