  • A BRUCKNER A MONTH
As we reach November, it's time for our second to last A BRUCKNER A MONTH (or as we like to call it: ABAM) video. After having played many of Bruckner's motets, which have a very serious and dark character, it's time for some more joyful music. Therefore we decided to arrange the Scherzo of Bruckner's only String Quartet. He composed this piece in 1862 during his study period at Otto Kitzler, as a preliminary to excercises in orchestration. As it was meant to be just an excercise, the piece wasn't played or edited during his life. It wasn't until 1951 that this piece was found in the Kitzler-Studienbuch, which is why the first performance took place almost hundred years after Bruckner composed it.
