CALM DOWN GUYS! Whenever I design fakemon for a silly unrealistic challenge such as this, I don't use the official Pokémon art style. That's why the linework and shading is different in this video. I've done it multiple times before. This is not new. I guess you have some previous videos to catch up on ;)
Duuuude are you kidding me!? This is such a great idea and fun creative exercise to work backwards from an established shape! Every weekend I look forward to these videos like a Saturday morning cartoon.
I would love a group video where everyone makes a team for a different, randomly selected Disney princess! Maybe 3 known pokemon and 3 of the artists fakemon specifically made for their princess. Like a Mushu style fakemon for Mulan, a Flounder fakemon for Ariel, an Olaf style fakemon for Elsa, etc...
I'd really like to see more of this idea, but a lot less rotation. I think a big part of the challenge is taking the silhouette already as it is right-side up and making that into something brand new and very different. Like you said with Bulbasaur: "How can I make its bulb not a bulb?" Or with Pikachu: "How can I make its hand not a hand and its tail something other than a classic tail?" The idea to turn the shadow of its hand into a furry elbow was genius. But I think that by rotating them, it makes the challenge much easier so it kinda takes away from it. It's almost as if you're given an entirely original silhouette that you have free range with even though it's still a classic Pokemon. Still another fantastic video though Ron and a great idea. As far as ideas for future designs if you were to do a Part 2, how about a Voltorb/Electrode but something that isn't just a simple ball? Maybe all its appendages are tucked inside the shadow outline that you just can't see? How about some of the bird or fish Pokemon? I feel like taking those silhouettes and making them into anything other than birds or fish could be a huge challenge. Maybe some classic Legendary silhouettes like Mewtwo, Groudon, or Dialga and making them into everyday common smaller Pokemon.
Cool sponsor! Remember tho, ring wearers, when wearing rings on both hands, clap one hand's fingers into the others palm. Otherwise they might crash into each other and get damaged!
the way bellicent is so succesful is so shocking ! for me i think it's them, and the bulbasaur that are the most succesful at transforming the silhouett :) would definitely love to see more !!!
6:33 - 7:39 I love the way the Fakemon Pikachu looks like. The way you turned Pikachu into a spider is awesome, if this Fakemon was on a card and illustrated then I would add it to my collection of my Pikachu cards :D
When seeing rotated Boldore's silhouette I pictured this ominous claw shaped eldritch thing. I also flipped some toys upside down to get inspiration for my drawings.
As Pokemon Fan, I love this concept and how u approached it, might wna try it myself! As an Art Fan, I love how you've made the outline stand out a little more than ur older fakemon, a subtle change that i acc really like!
im really happy to see you still upload pokémon stuff! you were my introduction to pokemon youtube videos when i was like . 8. and i turn 18 this year! and im still really into pkmn. so thank you for sticking to your passion, and introducing it to others ^_^
Reminds me of that one episode where there was a silhouette of a ball-like Pokémon such as Voltorb but turns out to be a different angle of Jigglypuff. As for the designs, I really enjoyed them a lot from this video but the one that stood out to me was Pikaspew like imagine an April Fool's and this Pokémon showed up but regardless keep up the good work
This is an amazing concept and video. Spectacular work. I think overlapping the silhouette before the final reveal like "Who's that Pokémon?", or during the lore portion would show your talent as an artist and be a nice reminder/comparison of the concept for the viewers.
Guidevoir's name also sounds like it contains a corruption of the word "Devour" a very "dark-type" sounding word imo. The corruption could also be linked to or inspired by the words "Noir" or "Void" for that added darkness feeling. They "guide" or lure their prey to the shoreline in order to drown them into the ocean's "dark void" and "devour" their bodies later. Just thought I'd add onto that part of Ron's pokedex entry. Perfect water/dark entry if I don't say so myself. 👍
A 5-Fakemon video is a gift 💜 It seems like your art style changed a bit for this one, but I can’t put my finger on it 🤔 Anyway, Guidevoir and Bellicent are my favorite designs this time!
That's just his sketch style; that's the style he uses on the speedpaints before showing the clean Sugimori-style final result; he just keeps the sketch style on these slightly less serious videos because it's just for fun and allows more arts for less time spent
Dude these are so fun! Bulbun could be my all time ever favorite Pokemon it were real; Harlucha is so fun too twisting the silhouette like that. Also, dope shirt brother!
This was so fun! I hope you do more starters in this challenge, this made me remember all the hype around whenever the Starter Pokemon silhouettes would be revealed (especially the Unovan ones, seeing those other Unovan starter predictions made me so nostalgic!)
These are incredible.. Pikaspew and Harlucha especially. Please do more of these! Such a cool idea, I could even see Pokemon doing it as a convergent style group.
Ron you are so incredibly talented! To be able to make something in Pikachu's silhouette that somehow, doesn't look like a Pikachu anymore, that's skill. Hope you continue this series ^^
This is a fun series, keep it up! I think Bulbasaur was the best one. Don't love that you kept that hand in for the Jellicent, though. Even with the caveat, adding to the silhouette still feels like a broken rule. And while the rotation was a cool gimmick, I hope in the future you can stick to the pokemon's original orientation. I think that's where the fun and real challenge is at, to work within the confines of the presented silhouette. Or if you do rotate it, maybe make it an separate fakemon evolution to the original orientation fakemon.
As a Bulbasaur fan from Pokemon Blue, I adore the bulldog you pulled from his silhouette! I think out of all of them, he's the most Pokemon-like. I'm really loving GF's trend towards adding cute small dog breeds to the stable of Pokemon (I still count Boltund even though he gets to be a medium to large size in the end). 10/10 would catch and use!
this kind of challenge would make a great game to bring other fakemon artists into, you could make it that 4 people make fakemon and the silhouette rotates until everyone's made there own interpretation of the silhouette then at the end you compare all the fakemon interpretations and then get to see the actual fakemon after
i think that pikachu silhouette could totally be fighting type, with the belt like appearance on its stomach and the tail that can look like boxing tape.
Love, love, love this idea. I always forget to comment on your videos after I watch them. Thanks for all the great content, I’m both in awe and jealous of your talent and abilities! Would obviously enjoy a part 2 and beyond.
This would be a great idea for a future 4 Artists video. You design a fakemon with an interesting silhouette with a lot of potential, show them only the silhouette, and they design a fakemon that fits it.
I really love what you did here. Such good results, especially Harlucha! I'd love a challenge and some of my favourite Mons like Voltorb, Muk or Smogon next.
There's a cool idea here for a sort of convergent form, where instead of two different pokemon evolving to have similar features, but where one species evolved to imitate other species
Have you ever thought of making a fakemon off of the substitute doll that's in the game? It obviously looks like it's a doll of a pokemon, but it doesn't look like any in game. Its like a little dinosaur lizard guy and think he would make awesome fakemon to give a canon story behind the dolls inspiration.
For bellicent i could see a new ability called Leaf Shed: every time this pokemon is hit be a physical attack it sheds a leaf of its gown boosting speed and attack while drastically lowering defense
CALM DOWN GUYS! Whenever I design fakemon for a silly unrealistic challenge such as this, I don't use the official Pokémon art style. That's why the linework and shading is different in this video. I've done it multiple times before. This is not new. I guess you have some previous videos to catch up on ;)
Honestly, it would be cool to see the shading just a bit flatter. A lot of your designs would look great as Dream World art
The shading is as flat as it gets. Literally can't get flatter.
@@truegreen7 Hmm... maybe I should've said, flatter and lower-contrast? I do pixel-based art for video games, I don't know anything about real art 😂
@@ChesuMori honestly I was going to say just this, it really looks like Dream World art
(Edit: I mean this in a good way ofc, DW art is so clean)
idk i kinda like this way more then the official pokemon art style
Imagine adding these fakemon in the "Who's that Pokemon" game? It would cause a lot of rage! 🤣
That's evil! I love it.

You could do a 4 artist where you give them a silhouette of your fakemon and see who gets the closest
That's actually a really good idea
Yes I agree heavily with this idea. Get on Turegreen7!
That'd be a lot of fun to watch
Great idea my friend
I was just going to suggest that myself. Glad I’m not the only one who thought of this.
Who’s that Pokémon?
Me: It’s Pikachu!
It’s Pikaspew!

You've unintentionally made a Snubbull/Fidough pokefusion lol.

No it's Snubbull + Fidough + Bulbasaur
@@screamingcat127snudosaur
Yeah, he's neat. I kinda thought he would be a Fairy / Fairy hybrid just because he was a sad looking dog.
That thumbnail Bulbasaur is an experience in itself. In a good way that works in my brain lol. Like a dog with a backpack that can never come off...
It's not a Bulbasaur silhouette anymore.
This is giving me total Gen 4 flashbacks with the silhouettes of the Gen 5 starters being creatively filled in with speculation

11:01 harlucha looks like it can be a branched evo for haunter
I'll give my life savings to Bulbun. His name will be Cinnabon.
Hawlucha one looks like a kirby boss
Loving the return to classic “Who’s that Pokémon?”
This could make for fun game in the future. Make a fakemon with an existing silhouette, and guests have to guess the original pokemon.
8:19 "I didn't have to think hard on... Hehe-"
wait what?
Fun fact if you rotate a Piplup 180 degrees, it looks like a weird floating bug
Ron’s designs in this video look different than usual. Maybe more bold or crisp. I love it.
Yes, I was thinking the same! I think it's bc his lineart is thicker? His rendering also looks slightly more graphic
I don't even like Bug-types like that, but now I want a Pikaspew plushie.
the way bellicent is so succesful is so shocking ! for me i think it's them, and the bulbasaur that are the most succesful at transforming the silhouett :) would definitely love to see more !!!

2:12 if you blur ur eyes it gets smaller? (Blurring as in doing crosseyes but halfway)
When seeing rotated Boldore's silhouette I pictured this ominous claw shaped eldritch thing.
I also flipped some toys upside down to get inspiration for my drawings.
That's a fun challenge! These silhouettes can also help people who struggle with bodyshapes. Love your videos man!
I feel like another interesting way to do Bulbasaur's silhouette would be to turn it into a frog with its tongue out.
Bulbasaur is already a frog tho
As Pokemon Fan, I love this concept and how u approached it, might wna try it myself!
As an Art Fan, I love how you've made the outline stand out a little more than ur older fakemon, a subtle change that i acc really like!
