Just to clear something up. Blissey was used as an example of a Pokemon whose DESIGN embodies a specific stat. I am aware that it doesn't have 1 in any stats. This is a design challenge , not an attempt to make Pokemon that work in battle. Although feel free to come up with scenarios where they do work in battle. I simply thought the title sounded super cool, so I made sure to not clickbait you and actually give them, effectively, only 1 usable stat. Hope you enjoyed regardless. NEXT WEEK'S VIDEO IS CRAAAAZY!
@@theknightwithabadpictotall7639 I mean that's not true if you're a gazelle though, and at that most Pokemon are of course animals, and many of them small game. Harmless to a human, maybe.

Only problem is that seahorses are COMICALLY slow, due to only having a single fin. I think the lightning bolt design makes up for it, though. My favorite's Spekrill
And ironically a land horse would’ve been perfect. They’re fast but they’re also incredibly fragile, bad at healing, poorly designed, and have genetic anxiety so they actually suck at every stat besides speed.
Honestly, I could see a Pokemon with the ability to revive itself after an amount of turns/steps taken working as this kind of extreme idea A Sp. Attack jellyfish? Some jellyfish have the ability to restart from their larval stage, so it reincarnating makes sense
Clattack and Spekrill would definitely see play, especially in Doubles thanks to Follow Me, because they'd be able to be very effective at taking trade kills, and if you pair them with Kingambit, the lack of durability becomes a benefit. Speedra might also see play if it gets a good movepool
I love how all of these are designed un a way that they actually offer some kind of offensive capability: Both the offensive embodiments have access to broken priority abilities to deal with their low speed, Grafense has 1hp and sturdy and can sweep with body press (assuming it learns it) and Speedra is just a super annoying status spreader. And Specialotl is, well, IMMUNE TO ALL SPECIAL MOVES
not only is specialotl immune to all special moves, it's ally is too in double battles. but it's ally can't use non-contact moves or it'll be sucked in too.
Having 1 base HP doesn't actually make it so that a Pokémon has 1 HP at level 100, Shedinja is just hard coded that way So Grafense is not gonna survive for more than 1 turn
i honestly think that a LITERAL glass cannon would be AWESOME for the special attack like, a immobile pistol shrimp that is mostly made of glass frigile that moves slowly due to the massive cannon (maybe a regional varient of clawncher?) and fires off massive beams of energy from it's cannon
One cool concept I noticed is that most, except attack fakemon, are pretty much aquatic-themed creatures. What if the HP fakemon possesses a symbiotic relationship or even a predator-prey relationship to the other smaller fakemons. Since the HP fakemon have abysmally low offensive stats, it would not technically harm the smaller fakemons upon consumption, but it will consume them for the sake of benefitting from them, and in return the smaller fakemons will have a host to live in. The gimmick can revolve around the HP fakemon gaining either the ability or the stats (or maybe both) of the consumed smaller fakemons and maybe harboring some small physical traits of the consumed fakemon. It's a similar mechanic to what Dondozo and Tatsugiri have.
Another way to do special defense would be "magic circles on paper of delicate wings." The circles neutralize beams and bolts, but you can just tear through them.
Returned to add that it took me walking away from the video to catch the second joke in Blubcraft's name, since it's the HP pokemon. I'm too slow for this!
Or a cloud of thin glass (or similar) shards. Any kind of energy attack gets reflected and refracted to the point where it has no force behind it, but a physical object punches straight through.
Average gen 10 spread: Also I just realized tardigrades are pretty much the living embodiment of this idea, mainly with special defense. I’m pretty sure you’ve made a tardigrade inspired design in the past so it’s probably better to bring variety but it’s a fun thought.
Well not every tardigrade can survive every extreme climate. Each one is highly specialized. One that can handle high heat would die in the cold for example
I dunno much about Gen 10 stat spread, but I've been playing a lot of Gen 7 recently and I spent 13 minutes wondering when he was going to stop talking about Ultra Beasts and get to the point.
True green: thankfully there's already a perfect fictional trope to use for our tiny but powerful psychic pokemon... Me: oh yeah! A glass can... True green: the mystical fetus.
Also, almost all invertebrates with exoskeletons are very resistant to radiation, all sorts of scorpions, spiders, ants, beetles etc. Cockroaches got the pop culture fame for that but they're only one in a very long list.
I was thinking of a waterbear, it means the same criteria as the cockroach, but it having 1 Stat in everything in except special defense makes PERFECT sense
I pretty sure the move electro ball uses speed to calculate damage instead of either attack stat, its insane speed and STAB means that it would do CRAZY damage with electro ball, so it's probably the most viable one here.
As others have said, 1 base HP doesn't cause the pokemon to be like shedinja. It just makes the pokemon have an incredibly low base HP. Shedinja is hard coded to have 1 HP.
Yes, however if GameFreak ever created another Pokémon with 1 in one of its stats, they'd either make it work like Shedinja or they'd change Shedinja, because consistency is important.
Shedinja being hard-coded to be a 1 HP is different from a Base HP of 1. So they don't need to change much because a specialized line of code or something for Shedinja
5:24 This definitely my favorite of the bunch. It has such cool lore. The noble/castle influences, the ways it can be defeated, the fact that you could theoretically collect the shell for an everlasting decoration; it all comes together to make a really cool Pokémon concept. The actual design is also pretty nice.
Meanwhile seahorses are known to be abysmal swimmers. To have it represent speed is a bit iffy. It would have been neat if speed was represented by a 'spore' being propelled by water. The dung cannon fungus is the creature which can generate the most g force of any creature, and a little spore wouldn't look intimidating.
"Especially a horse, which are, you know, very strong" Ron I regret to inform you that a horse alone would've been perfect because they effectively explode when you look at them wrong lmao
Horses can still kick hard, even planes have to placed horses in a certain way so they don´t end creating a hole on the plane´s inner walls by kicking.
a horse weights half a ton, heck the english draft horse weights 800 kg (1763 pounds) being only slightly taller then you, they weight alot because their body is literally pure muscle, tf you on about.
@@joaopedrofm1299Theyre probably talking about all the health problems horses have due to having such a high evolutionary pressure to be fast over a short period of time: their bones store air like a bird, but VERY poorly, if they break a bone they might br asphyxiating a tad, or hemorrhaging, or both, and they also can't recover from a broken leg, they only have one toe so blood flows TOO FAST, so they developed ✨ cardiovascular disease✨, they can't puke, they cant cough, when they run they cant even BREATHE they just kinda let their other organs slosh around, and they cant even pant they cant breathe through their mouth. They have such a weak diaphragm that pulmonary diseases are their END, if they lie down their organs stop working, colic can be their end, oh did I tell you they can't even clean what's between their legs? So stuff builds up and they get infections. Also horses are so, SO incredibly anxious and flighty because they are prey animals, so they are constantly on high alert, a little stress can off them ..... Yeah. Horses. Theyre a mess.
I recently had the idea for a region with six regional bugs, scattered across all areas, that each have one exceptional stat - but when in a team together, they evolve into a merged bug/dragon pseudolegendary, with balanced stats and a massive movepool from all the base forms. Bug types already being all about minmaxing, and the 'weak' bugs coming together to form something mighty, just feel right. (Unfortunately I immediately got stuck designing the first one, the physical defense, a literal shield bug that's also heraldry themed)
so these are Legendary pokemon that are useless untill they meet in one place to fuse to an ultimate being, something as strong as Eternatus and ultra necrozma. maybe a mythical with all his stats equal eachother. but it would be OP if it get the stat of every one of these pokemon, so maybe 100 each and the one chosen as a vessel would give it a 100 more points in its stat, so if the vessel was speed the fusion would have 100 in every stat and 200 is speed. i know it's Still Op but imagine it something like Eternamax Eturnatus
You could try to balance it by for example in lore have a pokemon which was the one to split it have the ability to split it into the 6 Pokemon and since they are 6 you could also have it have the condition of needing all of them in your party that way it would be a super high risk pokemon since it would be the only one in your team
@@freezingfire3157 Thank you, I decided to ad it in there cause at first I only had the idea of a specific pokemon that is it's weakness like an Achilles heel, and though that is fun in lore I personally hate when a in a game a counter to a specific unit isn't just something with a good match-up or has an ability that helps and instead is mandatory to have a chance and/or makes the unit a joke.
At level 100, with 0 IVs or EVs in attack, it will have a whopping *6* attack stat. But with the way EVs, IVs, and natures work, it gets up to a surprising 111 attack at most. So at +6, it can be hitting a smidge harder than a 252 attack adamant-natured Conkeldurr.
not how stats work, for instance 100 hp stat dont translate to 100hp at level 100, but i do understand what you are saying. It should def be sum like using speed as the attack stat.
It wouldnt really be 4, but would be minuscule anyway, still, for sure would have some attack like heavy slam but with speed, like body press or even heavy slam
I always wanted a Pokémon that epitomizes a “glass canon” Hits insanely hard, but can only take like 1-2 hits. I wonder what kind of Pokémon that would be?
Look no further than deoxys attack, the absolute most extreme representation of that. Defenses so paper thin, you probably can’t even survive non-stab priority moves. But both offense stats rival some of the offensive stats of the strongest mega pokemon.
Other than the insane stat distribution, most of these look like they could be real pokemon. It's hard for me to pick a favourite but I really love specialotl
For the max attack Pokémon, I would have went for a literal interpretation of the saying “glass cannon”. Like it could be a living cannon made of glass and could even have a move based around the idea that attacking automatically kills it because it’s only ability is to shoot which destroys it, but it also dose crazy damage if it lands.
I find it funny the seahorse became the fast one. It being one of the slowest fish possible, forgoing fins for a useless prehensile tail. Do like it though.
What I was thinking for defense was a Tyrannosaurus Rex with armor so heavy that it can barely move, and the tiny arms of the T-Rex would be the lack of attack, but the HP stat was still unknown how to make it still 1, and mine didn't have any concept really, so yours is WAY better and is perfect for the defense stat. You did great with ALL of them actually! This is a great video, so thank you for entertaining me! Keep up the good work!
Decided to make a dex entry for Blubcraft, since you only made a design. [Blubcraft: The Black Hole Pokemon Fairy/Psychic type Blubcraft drifts aimlessly through space, absorbing tiny particles floating in the void to sustain its bulky but fragile body. It is said to be immortal, as it will bounce back from even the most greivous injuries. Size: 35ft. long (10.67m) Weight: 660lbs (299.3kg) Ability: Reincarnation If this pokemon faints from self inflicted damage, it will instantly heal up to half the damage taken.] Basically, I designed the ability to absolutely abuse Final Gambit, hitting the enemy for the full bulk of Blubcraft's ludicrous HP, and then repeating with half as much HP, then a quarter HP, etc. Add a healing move like Recover, and we got an absolute punisher to deal with.
I’ll add on: The black hole contained in its mouth increases in size each time it consumes something, theoretically allowing it to grow to monumental sizes. Some superstitious astronomers have explained the sudden disappearance of stars to Blubcraft consuming them.
Guess I’ll try to continue even further: _It is suspected that the reasoning for the heat death of the universe will be caused by multiple titanic-sized Blubcrafts after reaching critical mass_
This gave me a really interesting idea. A legendary Pokemon with maybe 80 in each stat that has 6 other legendaries that each only have 1 high stat but the legendary can be fused or "equipped" with one of them at a time in a sort of Voltron manner. The primary stat of the Pokemon it fuses with is added to its own stats and it gains a specific move depending on the Pokemon it's fused with. Maybe it would have an ultimate form that combines with all of them at once to gain insane stats
If 1HP already works like Wonder Guard Shedinja, or even if it doesn’t, Grafense just nullification of Physical Moves sounds up its alley. It would be vulnerable to Special Moves.
@@bohemianharpsicord4294 making it more clearly a gimmick than a true wall. Needs something like the Special ability for this session, or just an actual HP stat for the purposes of a minmaxed wall for reals.
@@bohemianharpsicord4294 That's not true. It takes a LOT to round down damage to 0, but it is possible. As for Sturdy, it makes the attack do 0 damage, keeping the mon at 1 and Sturdy still active.
The snail guy would go crazy with sturdy and heavy duty boots because 1 base hp sets the hp stat to 1 automatically, and since its a steel rock type it won’t be affected by sandstorm.
sadly, no it doesnt that only happens with shedinja, who is SPECIALLY HARDCODED to only have 1 hp an actual base stat of 1 hp wouldn't actually translate to 1 hp
The issue is that even with infinite Defence or Sp. Def, the minimum amount of damage a Pokemon can do is 1 HP so the only way for max def or max sp. def Pokemon to work would be have HP higher than 1 Otherwise an infinite Defence Pokemon with 1 HP getting hit with a physical move would still knock it out because 1 HP - 1 damage = 0 HP
I find it really funny that he gave the Defense 'mon one of the worst defensive type combos in the game. One Earthquake or Brick Break off of an Attack stat higher than 70, and that thing folds like paper.
I mean, yeah, but he was using those since steel and rock types tend to have really high defenses. Plus, since it has sturdy, it’s invincible from all direct damage in most cases
Alternate sp. def Mon: graffense has retreated so far into it’s shell that it has become stuck there, filling up all the wholes and leaving the entrance super vulnerable.
You called the Health stat ultra Beast UBHP, which I find hilarious. This is funny because In Realm Of The Mad God, the highest Hp Stat rings name is shortened to UBHP, as it stands for Ring of Unbound Health so UBHP Unbound Health.
The tartigrade would've been perfect for the Special Defense Pokémon. They can resist extreme temperatures, are immune to radiation and can even survive in space. However, they're eaten by frickin snails. And of course being so small their offensive capabilities are non existent.
I understand design wise why you want to really emphasize the "1" stat thing, but it'll be fun to apply some game design logic here to make it even a little bit feasible, mechanically. So imma do that. Clawttack: 35HP, 255ATK, 50DEF, 5Spa, 50Sdf, 20Spe With these HP and defenses it... won't fold to weak priority or utility moves like rapid spin from full HP and wont be one-shot by set damage moves like night shade or dragon rage. Is also still really slow (beware trick room). The Gale Wings-Esque ability is perfect; once its hit, it loses so much steam and can be neutered by hazards. Grafence: 50HP, 5 Atk, 255DEF, 5 Spa, 20 Sdf, 5 Spe Now, it 100% gets utility moves like spikes, rapid spin, and Spikey Shield, and either gets some kind of set damage move, counter-like moves, or just straight up Body Press. Sturdy is thematic and can help it if you foolishly let it take a special hit, and iron barbs is great as passive physical attack punishment. Spekrill: 25HP, 5 Atk, 45DEF, 255Spa, 50 Sdf, 20 Spe Similar to Clawttack, won't get blown away by a slight breeze but is still unbelievably frail and slow (though trick room likes slow). Having another priority ability is fine and serves the purpose, but I like the "Smart/Clever" angle to the Levitate ability, where it can't take a hit unless it abuses immunities. Not sure how far to take it though; just levitate? maybe a type that still fits but has immunities?? unsure. To make the damage not ludicrous it shouldn't get any boosting moves, and then I would want to decide between supreme coverage or high base power moves with limited coverage for its attack style. Specialotl: 50HP, 5 Atk, 10Def, 35 Spa, 255Sdf, 30 Spe The focus on nullifying Non-contact moves actually does dip into the physical side of defensiveness, since there are some powerful and common Non-contact physical moves like Earthquake or Stone Edge. Whether you want to keep that and have it be a bonus side-effect that can aid it in not being completely helpless against physical attacks or keep it true to the Special Defense theme and just have it draw in special moves, I think the ability works great especially as a double Pokemon. Scald for the annoying burn chance and various support moves like Life Dew or Screens seem fitting for it. I love the whale, favorite design here. UB-HP: 255HP, 10Atk, 35 Def, 10 Spa, 35 Sdf, 5 Spe It should 100% get just passive damage moves and a unique set-damage move the absorbs HP but rather than it being a set-damage move to overcome the inherent lack of damage, make it just deal a flat 6% and heal a flat 6% or something. Maybe it could be used once and last for some turns so it can do other things in the meantime, like confuse and nullify stat changes to make it difficult to boost past it. Or maybe the HP drain thing is its ability, that might be better. Speedra: 5HP, 35 Atk, 5 Def, 5 Spa, 5 Spd, 255Spe Two ways that come to mine for this Pokemon to use its speed: Momentum grabbing or cleaning up a weakened Pokemon. Its signature ability helps with both if it gets a free switch(and maybe that can be made easier by giving it the atk and evade boost on switch in as well as at the end of each turn.). Since the ability raises evasion, 5 is the lowest stat any Pokemon ever gets(except Shedinja's actual 1HP) and those are its defenses. Either dodge or get knocked the hell out(focus sash abuse uh oh). This inability to actually defend itself and relying on just not being hit should also mean it has NO access to anything that might let it try and fish for evasion boosts like Protect, Endure, or substitute. And the attack stat will... eventually... get up to a level where it can maybe knock out a Pokemon. Maybe a move that deals more damage the more boosts you have, an electric type stored power kind of move to make up for a lack of stats in sheer base power. These were fun game design prompts, I think! I have no way to actually test this kind of thing though. Could do damage calcs but like, that's so narrow. Ah well.
unfortunately, having 1hp, your super defence pokemon may as well have 0 defence since a flick of the finger would be enough to finish it off, high defence also necessitates a half decent HP stat.
i forget but doesn't sturdy counteract that? im pretty sure it used to tank any move that dealt more than 100% hp when at full health, and... it has.. one health.
7:45 When you mentioned the words “squishy”, “translucent”, and “water”, I immediately thought “jellyfish”, but it’s hood/dome/umbrella would be like either a water or psychic bubble to protect its squishier parts that are maybe like a little critter almost in a mechanized diving suit, with the tentacles acting as its arms. Maybe even this entire “mech-suit” would be made of water or psychic energy that better works to dissipate other “energy” or special attacks, but it has little to no effect physical forms.
5:29 I would have given Grafense "indestructible" a new ability that made it inmune to every physical attack, to simbolize that literally anything can break the shell
I’d give it a new ability called “ Offensive Defense “ that makes it so when it’s attacked with a physical move it deals back the base power of the attack to the opponent. Think of it as ferroseed and its evolution’s ability but better
I like the idea of something along these lines existing as a legendary group for a new region. Obviously as legendaries they would be stronger than 1 in every other stat, but maybe when you have a team of all 6 they get stronger? Maybe after all 6 are defeated in battle they resurrect as a final 7th Pokémon on your team, like Exodia for Pokémon? Or they all combine into one at the beginning, so you have a super strong Pokémon but only have one team member?
dude, the hope i was feeling for you using the man o' war for attack was real. and then you started on about darn arms. cool stuff though, dude. i remember watching you a few years ago. glad you're still going.
I actually love the space whale idea. Like, it works perfectly as a concept. I imagine it being kinda like Orgalorg from Adventure Time (specifically when trying to absorb the catalyst comet). Kinda like a deflated balloon. It's easily pierced or broken, but it's so big that it barely matters. It just drifts through space, so it doesn't use any speed. And it doesn't have any attack since how it eats is just consuming anything that happens to go inside its mouth. And considering that blue whales mostly just eat krill it works really well combined with a super massive black hole that also just moves through space consuming whatever comes near. Like, I actually just love the design and kinds wish you could have done more with it. I do understand why you didn't though. It's a cool concept, but there already is a Pokemon that does the same thing in a different way. I also kinda wonder what would be a fitting typing. Like, psychic might work since it's an ethereal being, but I also wouldn't think of it as very smart. But it could work depending on what kind of lore is made for it. Cool video and love the designs! I know I'm 2 months late, but I like sharing my thoughts even if it's just talking to the void. The void may not awnser, but it does feel nice to just say what I think knowing that someone could possibly see it.
The defense one would be a Great Wall because 1hp sturdy allows it to tank any move then give it heavy duty boots Or safety goggles and it will be pretty good defenseive Pokémon ( but I play pure Hackmons a lot and so the sturdy can easily be played around)
That’s not really how stats work. Shedinja is hardcoded to have only 1 hp, so it will actually have 1 hp in battle and can tank any move with sturdy. But a normal Pokémon just with an hp stat of 1 would still have much more than 1 hp in battle, the hp stat doesn’t correlate directly with hp.
i could see the special-defence pokemon being mirror or glass themed in some way. all those elemental and magical attacks just get deflected away, but any rock or punching attack wold shatter it easy.
These came out so well! I'm most partial Graense and Spekril, but your reasoning for your direction for all of them were sound. Definitely was thinking of my own renditions while hearing your intended visions. Hope your hand gets better mate, please take care of it and yourself!!!
i love grafense so i have some cool ideas for it 50 hp, whats the point of defense if you only have one hit point? a new ability, maybe its called maximum protection or something, it makes it completely immune to physical attacks and maybe takes half damage from special attacks, this could have a pretty sweet animation of it hiding in its castle shell. those are my ideas, love your videos man
It doesnt though. It has 1 *base* HP. Shedinja for comparison has a hardcoded 1 HP, not just base HP. A pokemon with 1 base HP still has atleast around 110 HP at level 100 and atleast 11 at lvl 1
@reyreywasabi541 No, it's about the ability emphasizing full HP when it appears as though the Pokémon would only ever have 1 HP point, as I had the same thought
the massive defense / special defense pokemon would be interesting, if they didn't have 1 HP making their defenses completely irrelevant. At least the attack / spAttack pokemon with their priority moves sounds like it could do SOME work at least
1 hp does make their defense bad, but not completely irrelevant, as the hp stat does not directly determine actual Hp. The way stats work, a 1 hp stat Pokémon would have at least 11 hp and level one and 110 at level 100. (Shedinja is hard coded to have 1 hp in battle)
Few different directions I would have gone with: For Sp. Def, Tardigrades would be a perfect real life comparison. They are slow defenseless creatures but resistant to extreme temperatures and radiation. For attack I was thinking a cone snail without a shell. They have a deadly sting but are only protected by the shell, so without a shell it would be a helpless creature with a deadly stinger
Do another cartoon characters as Pokémon to include Jorgen von Strangle, Emperor Belos, Aku, Hilda (both her human and troll form from Hilda cartoon), etc.
Prince Rubert drop! That should have been defense, the ball part is known to be incredibly hard to break and indestructible, but has absolutely no HP because if you hit its tail then its down
These are so delightful and creative! You have a phenomenal style. Most “designing X Pokemon” content feels oriented around gameplay, so it’s an interesting (and refreshing) change of pace to see design oriented around aesthetics.
I love this concept. I would love to see a similar video where instead of one stat being exaggerated, maybe two are exaggerated. Idk if it would do well though, since that concept seems pretty hard to market.
6:12 Ron: Fortunately there is already a fictional trope that we can use for our high special attack, low on every other stat pokemon Me: Squishy Wizard Ron: A fetus Me: oh😀
I would've chosen a mirror as the base for a high SpDef mon. It's an Object, so it's slow, it breaks easily when hit with physical damage, can't attack on it's own but is almost immune to light/beam-based attacks
For attacking, I like the idea of a floating needle or thumb tack or some ghost spirit thing possessing a thumbtack or bunch of tacks, type would be ghost/steel and it'd be the mischief pokemon. It likes to go around and poke balloons with it's needles which works with it's typing because it can hit both Jigglypuff and Drifblim super effectively with STAB moves. It's abilities would be tack drop or something similarly named, basically drops some of it's thumbtacks on the ground when it's K.O'd, creating a layer of spikes or something, and probably prankster, because it's the mischief pokemon. No idea what to name it, Ghostack? Oh well, the idea's there.
For the high hp, i immediately just imagined a huge round bird which has tired eyes and sits in its nest all day, kind of like feathery brown Snorlax. Maybe Bullkfinch (Bullfinch, Bull playing into that chonkiness + Bulk), or haichphen (HP + hen ) or thicken ( thick + chicken)
What I like about Spekrill is, like, imagine if it wasn't just one pokemon but a whole swarm of Krill... they'd have no defenses at all, but as a collective entity massive computing power and collective intelligence.
3:20 Oh you sweet summer child… Did you forget about Rock type’s five weaknesses, and Steel/Rock’s two quad weaknesses to some of the most oppressive attacking types in the game?
Speed pokemon- stealth rocks Hp pokemon- reflect(and light screen if possible) Defense pokemon- swords dance as many times as you can then baton pass to the special defense pokemon Spdef pokemon-nasty plot then baton pass to attack pokemon Attack pokemon-sweep
also, don't forget the other two stats accuracy and evasiveness for evasiveness, it would probably be a living slot machine since you need extreme luck to actually hit it, similar to how you need extreme luck to get the jackpot on a slot machine.
I like the ability of the speed one being that it just starts off with max evasiveness and is immune to priority moves. You could def get some uses out of it like that.
Y'know it'd be kinda neat to see a sequel video where all these 6 Pokémon are combined into 1. Like these Pokémon are all Legendaries that aren't really meant to be strong in battle, like Cosmoem or something. But they can all be fused into 1 uber-powerful Legendary with 255 in all stats. But maybe that'd be too hard to make an entire video out of, since it's just the 1 design.
Another idea for a pure attack just hit me, it's a bear trap that's a bear, just a steely jaw that lays on the ground but it's a living bear that cannot move, it's easily disarmed, etc, but it snaps shut if you don't see it and eats you
long claws's should basically read "all attacks that make contact have priority" because there's no way this thing is living any kind of hit, and you'd have to be a complete goober to put it in on an entry hazard
You should give every of these like 51 HP stats, because the "Grafence" one with sturdy is invincable. Also, we don't want Shedinja not be the only one with 1 HP
It isnt invincible though. It has 1 *base* HP. Shedinja for comparison has a hardcoded 1 HP, not just base HP. A pokemon with 1 base HP still has atleast around 110 HP at level 100 and atleast 10 at lvl 1

And ironically a land horse would’ve been perfect. They’re fast but they’re also incredibly fragile, bad at healing, poorly designed, and have genetic anxiety so they actually suck at every stat besides speed.
You'd have to be either a master strategist / a maniac or both to effectively use these Pokémon.
Wonderful dude.

No you have to be both

Pretty funny that thing has 255 spdef and it can't even use it because of the ability
not only is specialotl immune to all special moves, it's ally is too in double battles. but it's ally can't use non-contact moves or it'll be sucked in too.
Yeah, i was about to comment the same about how redundant the stat becomes with that ability.
It blocks some physical moves like earthquake or rockslide too, and doesn't block infestation despite it being a special move.
Having 1 base HP doesn't actually make it so that a Pokémon has 1 HP at level 100, Shedinja is just hard coded that way
So Grafense is not gonna survive for more than 1 turn

That pfp had me tricked for a second
That's really good, too! And more naturalistic, so it'd be a better fit depending on the region.

Base stats are taken for level 50 Pokemon, it would have to be hard-coded to always have 1hp otherwise you could just increase it when you level up.

Weight: 660lbs (299.3kg)

Basically, I designed the ability to absolutely abuse Final Gambit, hitting the enemy for the full bulk of Blubcraft's ludicrous HP, and then repeating with half as much HP, then a quarter HP, etc.
Add a healing move like Recover, and we got an absolute punisher to deal with.
Yeah you could tell he didn’t care too much for his blubcraft design. Didn’t even bother with a dex entry
I’ll add on:
The black hole contained in its mouth increases in size each time it consumes something, theoretically allowing it to grow to monumental sizes. Some superstitious astronomers have explained the sudden disappearance of stars to Blubcraft consuming them.
Guess I’ll try to continue even further:
_It is suspected that the reasoning for the heat death of the universe will be caused by multiple titanic-sized Blubcrafts after reaching critical mass_

I understand design wise why you want to really emphasize the "1" stat thing, but it'll be fun to apply some game design logic here to make it even a little bit feasible, mechanically. So imma do that.
Clawttack: 35HP, 255ATK, 50DEF, 5Spa, 50Sdf, 20Spe
With these HP and defenses it... won't fold to weak priority or utility moves like rapid spin from full HP and wont be one-shot by set damage moves like night shade or dragon rage. Is also still really slow (beware trick room). The Gale Wings-Esque ability is perfect; once its hit, it loses so much steam and can be neutered by hazards.
Grafence: 50HP, 5 Atk, 255DEF, 5 Spa, 20 Sdf, 5 Spe
Now, it 100% gets utility moves like spikes, rapid spin, and Spikey Shield, and either gets some kind of set damage move, counter-like moves, or just straight up Body Press. Sturdy is thematic and can help it if you foolishly let it take a special hit, and iron barbs is great as passive physical attack punishment.
Spekrill: 25HP, 5 Atk, 45DEF, 255Spa, 50 Sdf, 20 Spe
Similar to Clawttack, won't get blown away by a slight breeze but is still unbelievably frail and slow (though trick room likes slow).
Specialotl: 50HP, 5 Atk, 10Def, 35 Spa, 255Sdf, 30 Spe
The focus on nullifying Non-contact moves actually does dip into the physical side of defensiveness, since there are some powerful and common Non-contact physical moves like Earthquake or Stone Edge.
UB-HP: 255HP, 10Atk, 35 Def, 10 Spa, 35 Sdf, 5 Spe
It should 100% get just passive damage moves and a unique set-damage move the absorbs HP but rather than it being a set-damage move to overcome the inherent lack of damage, make it just deal a flat 6% and heal a flat 6% or something. Maybe it could be used once and last for some turns so it can do other things in the meantime, like confuse and nullify stat changes to make it difficult to boost past it. Or maybe the HP drain thing is its ability, that might be better.
Speedra: 5HP, 35 Atk, 5 Def, 5 Spa, 5 Spd, 255Spe
Two ways that come to mine for this Pokemon to use its speed: Momentum grabbing or cleaning up a weakened Pokemon.
*literally anything?
Ps. It would be neat to make it nullify contact moves to make it more symmetrical to specialotl.

I was going to say this
That’s not really how stats work.

These came out so well! I'm most partial Graense and Spekril, but your reasoning for your direction for all of them were sound. Definitely was thinking of my own renditions while hearing your intended visions. Hope your hand gets better mate, please take care of it and yourself!!!
i love grafense so i have some cool ideas for it
50 hp, whats the point of defense if you only have one hit point?
a new ability, maybe its called maximum protection or something, it makes it completely immune to physical attacks and maybe takes half damage from special attacks, this could have a pretty sweet animation of it hiding in its castle shell.
those are my ideas, love your videos man
Shedinja’s 1 HP base stat is hard coded.
You will get more HP, but you have a point.
And what's the point of being inmune to contact moves when most physical moves are and this Pokémon is made to tank them?
2:58 But... It only has one...
It doesnt though.
It has 1 *base* HP.
Shedinja for comparison has a hardcoded 1 HP, not just base HP.
A pokemon with 1 base HP still has atleast around 110 HP at level 100 and atleast 11 at lvl 1
@@julienbronsch5039I think his thinking about there is already a sloth pokemon 😂
At least the attack / spAttack pokemon with their
priority moves sounds like it could do SOME work at least
Like yeah, sturdy I guess, but having 1 defense wouldn't change the effect of sturdy.
As for Specialotl's ability, in the same way, it wouldn't matter the value of the stat, as the ability would nullify special moves anyways .
When he said it would hit insanely hard but not move fast, for the attack one, i was thinking a mantis shrimp.
Few different directions I would have gone with:
For Sp.
Do another cartoon characters as Pokémon to include Jorgen von Strangle, Emperor Belos, Aku, Hilda (both her human and troll form from Hilda cartoon), etc.
well this’ll be interesting
Trick room would like to talk with you 😈
Prince Rubert drop! That should have been defense, the ball part is known to be incredibly hard to break and indestructible, but has absolutely no HP because if you hit its tail then its down
So Clattack is an amazing trickroom self sacrificer in VGC... if stealth rock didn't exist.
13:06 does this mean that speedra likes eating chilli dogs?
Is it me, or does anyone else here "bussy" at 0:29? 🤔🤭😆
Same
Your weird, he said Blissey
@@guzzlordguy5991how is that weird
@@guzzlordguy5991he literally said it differently the second time
I heard that too😅
These are so delightful and creative! You have a phenomenal style. Most “designing X Pokemon” content feels oriented around gameplay, so it’s an interesting (and refreshing) change of pace to see design oriented around aesthetics.
Can we just talk about how without knowing it this man made a pokemon that does the same thing a yokai from yokai watch 3 does using it's skill?
A mirror for special defense would have been perfection
I was thinking a black hole would be a good defence for a pokemon with really high special defence, but the space whale was cool as well
I love this concept. I would love to see a similar video where instead of one stat being exaggerated, maybe two are exaggerated. Idk if it would do well though, since that concept seems pretty hard to market.

Ron: Fortunately there is already a fictional trope that we can use for our high special attack, low on every other stat pokemon
Me: Squishy Wizard
Ron: A fetus
Me: oh😀
Noctapin?
Interesting idea but all these (minus the extra) would just flat out die if you sneeze at them the wrong way
For the high hp, i immediately just imagined a huge round bird which has tired eyes and sits in its nest all day, kind of like feathery brown Snorlax.
He said the HP based pokèmon couldn't be dense and then he added a black hole to it which is the densest thing known.
2:16 i was just thinking no animal just a big cannon
...glass cannon 🧠
@zeninjerxyz9293 exactly
Speed pokemon- stealth rocks
Hp pokemon- reflect(and light screen if possible)
Defense pokemon- swords dance as many times as you can then baton pass to the special defense pokemon
Spdef pokemon-nasty plot then baton pass to attack pokemon
Attack pokemon-sweep
also, don't forget the other two stats
accuracy and evasiveness
for evasiveness, it would probably be a living slot machine
since you need extreme luck to actually hit it, similar to how you need extreme luck to get the jackpot on a slot machine.
Here are my ideas:
All attack: a Glass hammer
All special attack: a Glass canon (without wheels)
Thanks for reading.
Another idea for a pure attack just hit me, it's a bear trap that's a bear, just a steely jaw that lays on the ground but it's a living bear that cannot move, it's easily disarmed, etc, but it snaps shut if you don't see it and eats you
I can't help but imagine Clattack looking like it would jump around side to side while swiping at someone with its claws.
long claws's should basically read "all attacks that make contact have priority" because there's no way this thing is living any kind of hit, and you'd have to be a complete goober to put it in on an entry hazard
Will-O-Wisp and it's gone by the way
