  • Join us on this Norwich City, England walk - the UK's Best University City Walking Tour.
    Norwich, England is the most complete medieval city in the UK and one of Britains best university cities. The area was settled by the Anglo-Saxons over 1400 years ago. Unusually, the city has two universities, the University of East Anglia and the Norwich University of the Arts, and two cathedrals, the Anglican Norwich Cathedral and the Catholic St John the Baptist Cathedral. It also has a castle - Norwich Castle. It is known for Norwich Market - one of the country's largest outdoor markets, and the Arts and Craft styled Royal Arcade. Our walking tour of Norwich City, the UK's best Tudor city, is a walk through medieval history and modern British culture.

    I have seen a lot of videos of lovely and interesting English places lately, often ruined by the use of loud and inappropriate music. I hope your 'no music' policy catches on. The content is entertaining enough already.

    If you ever go back to Norwich just after the river on Coslany st, you walk past an archway before getting to to the road and then going up the stairs. I recommend going through the archway to the street there is a massive anchor on a wall, head to that and you will see stairs (pushchair friendly) with Gybsons conduit. It has some history on it and it's from the 1500, though it has moved from the original site I think.

      Thanks MS, you might be surprised to hear Norwich is actually a 2 and a half hours drive from London in sleepy Norfolk. A great little city. Interesting to hear about Tudor city, I hadn't heard of that. Enjoyed your recent Union Square New York walk BTW. If you ever feel like doing a London for NY footage exchange let us know. Think it might not quite fit with your channel though... just a thought, we've done it once or twice and it worked well. All the best to you either way.

Yeah I've lived in 4 separate apartments in Tudor City for over 20 years now; every time that I want to move to a bigger and better apt, I for some reason don't ever move out of the neighborhood. A footage exchange sounds interesting but yeah not sure if it would make sense for our channels. Just curious, how did you do exchanges previously, do you ship drives or just upload everything to Google drive or something like that for example?

    Very interesting video. Great clarity, very little jiggling while walking. I'm a bit claustrophobic, so some of those tight streets and walkways made me nervous. I kept wondering why the original inhabitants built everything so close. While I don't have the answer, I can understand why the Black Death was able to spread so easily at that time. Not just in Norwich, of course, but all over Europe. The old city buildings were beautiful, but modernity continually impinged--as I guess it must. Thanks for an interesting and informative tour. This particular Yank enjoyed it.

      @neilboulton9813 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Harold Burton The Modernity does not seem to impinge that much and where it does it is relatively sympathetic. However you should be aware that not all that change was by choice. As during the Second World War Norwich along with a number of medieval cities Exeter, Canterbury were targeted by the Luftwaffe in the Baedeker bombing raids.
