Hello there Narendra, what a pleasure it is to receive your message and to know that it helped to evoke a good memory or two. It's what we hope for. Very best wishes to you.
Love Ipswich, it’s a great town. Lots of history around the marine area. Its industrial stamp is located worldwide. Like many towns and cities in the UK, it’s trying to reinvent itself after the industrial revolution. That takes generations not decades. Cambridge and Norwich, didn’t have the industry Ipswich had, so those places don’t have to change like Ipswich is doing right now… Once the waterfront is complete and connects to the town better (‘The link project’) it will be a very smart town. It will happen one day. Ipswich has a bright future. It’s just a bit stuck at the moment.
Well hello there Dry Lunch (I love your name BTW) I quite agree that Ipswich is a great town with history in abundance. As you say many towns and cities in the UK are trying to reinvent themselves. I hope that Ipswich does itself justice once the waterfront is complete. I didn't know about ‘The link project’, that sounds like a rather good idea. I look forward to seeing that. Thank you for dropping by, I value that. I have a couple of hundred other walks here! so if you ever feel like another meander you won't go short of destinations. All the best to you.
I lived 10 mins from Ipswich a couple of decades ago. I really loved living in this part of the world. Ipswich has some really pretty parts and the area has beautiful countryside, near the sea, lots of history, and very nice cultural and craft spaces dotted around the countryside. Not sure how much it might have changed, although friends and family in the area are still happy there. I would move back to the area in a heartbeat.
Hi Shelley, How interesting to hear you lived near Ipswich and loved it. Although it's inevitably had some changes it's good to know your friends and family in the area are still happy there too. I hope that move happens for you someday. Thanks for taking the time to connect.
I moved to Ipswich about a year and a half ago (for the second time) it's a lovely town with much to recommend...historic buildings and spacious parks, its extremely close to coast ( it sits on estuary) and countryside. Town centre needs work( as do most) and certain areas are not great, however I really like it and feel at home.
I support Ipswich Town have done since 1976, I was debating weather I should move there for good to be nearer my club and this video has made my mind up. So I'm upping sticks from North Wales and moving to this lovely and interesting town so thank you for your help.

So nice watching this! I grew up not far from Ipswich and some of the biggest moments in my life were spent there - dating, nights out, time spent walking through the park in the summer. I’ve since moved quite far away and sometimes get this overwhelming urge to visit so this was lovely to watch and to almost feel as though I’m back there!
Hi there @SBonaventureReacts, how nice to know that some of the biggest moments in your life were spent in Ipswich and this brought back a memory or two, it was certainly our hope to do that. The misleading video highlights an old town that could be almost anywhere in the UK. It doesn't show the many run down and derelict areas that needed demolishing four decades ago.
Thank you for this! I live in Canada, my grandfather and his family are from Ipswich and I wanted to experience it for myself but I don't expect I'll be able to go overseas anytime soon. I really appreciate what you do so people have a chance to see places they might not otherwise.

I enjoyed this video. Being from Ipswich, which although it is a town is quite large, I know there are many more buildings and parks to see. I'd have liked to have seen Norman Foster's award winning building (purely because I worked there when it opened in 1975!) and has already been mentioned Christchurch Park especially the arboretums. I moved away to Somerset aged 21 many moons ago and I have heard people saying Ipswich is awful now but I still love it especially when you look up above the shops and see the amazing buildings built long ago
Thanks for the visit Pogle's wife, I'm glad you enjoyed it, it's a pleasure to hear we've done your original town justice. I completely agree that to look up above the shops and see the lovely buildings is a real joy. Happy to have brought back a memory or two. All the best to you.

Ipswich was my home town. Moved there from the country when I was Five. The streets used to be cram packed with traffic! Seeing it here, it looks like a ghost town, with no traffic. I agree it’s sad to see it this way. I was there in 2008 most people I met were not from Ipswich all transplants. Most were unemployed due to all businesses being turned into condos no one can afford. Most of the retail is gone. Very sad. Thank you for sharing. I went to Nacton Road Girls school. Was the last class to leave there ( graduate) 1969.
@@christhompson7547 I just chatted to a mate, who still lives there, and nearly all the big department stores are closed, and empty, together with many smaller businesses. Ipswich has its very nice parts and it’s terrible parts. Differs depending where you are as a lot of the town centre is quite historic and the parks are nice but some of the outer urban bits and ends of town are miserable.
Been visiting Ipswich all my life as my grandparents lived there. I disliked it then and I still do, even though they've made a great job on renovating the docks area. I'd rather live in Beirut. Bring on the haters!!
I lived in Ipswich from 1965 to Jan 1968 I was 16 when we returned to the USA I went to a cobbelston girls school and we lived on Kingston Street. I h,ad an English friend by the name of Sandy she set up a blind date for me and we took the bus and than wasked thru an underground walkway to a place where we danced, I had such a good time,

I reckon you might have gone to Tracey's. It was a nightclub built in the Greyfriars concrete monstrosity opposite the Willis Faber & Dumas building (as it was called when it opened in 1975) The roundabout by it had underground walkways
It's a dump, served by an incompetent local authority. I left Ipswich in 2012 to live in in Norwich. Best decision I ever made. Suffolk is wonderful, but Ipswich is an eyesore.
Gave me goose bumps watching this video. I walked those streets a 1000 times. Miss Ipswich so much. Love from Malaysia

Ipswich has its very nice parts and it’s terrible parts. Differs depending where you are as a lot of the town centre is quite historic and the parks are nice but some of the outer urban bits and ends of town are miserable.
@@redvelvetdewdrops Ruined by uncontrolled immigration under Labour like where I live in Peterborough and too many other places. 😢
I don’t know why Ipswich gets a bad rep sometimes. I also felt it was a very pleasant town when I visited.
I felt the same keywi
I love it, perfectly located to explore other parts of suffolk too.
unfortunately it is filled with misery and poverty, too many Roms and many shops are abandoned and empty.
Been visiting Ipswich all my life as my grandparents lived there. I disliked it then and I still do, even though they've made a great job on renovating the docks area. I'd rather live in Beirut. Bring on the haters!!
Oh ha ha righto @tbeau6663, thanks for the lowdown!
I’ve never been to Ipswich. Seems a nice little city.
Thanks for connecting, we hadn't either and were pleasantly surprised.
TOWN
I lived in Ipswich from 1965 to Jan 1968 I was 16 when we returned to the USA I went to a cobbelston girls school and we lived on Kingston Street. I h,ad an English friend by the name of Sandy she set up a blind date for me and we took the bus and than wasked thru an underground walkway to a place where we danced, I had such a good time,
So happy to know that this brought back happy memories to you. Thanks for popping by and taking the time to let us hear your memories, it means a lot to us.
I reckon you might have gone to Tracey's. It was a nightclub built in the Greyfriars concrete monstrosity opposite the Willis Faber & Dumas building (as it was called when it opened in 1975) The roundabout by it had underground walkways
❤️
You're really welcome friend!

Ah, tan contento de que lo hagas. Gracias por mantenerte conectado.
10!
Thanks E!
Are cars prohibited in the old centre?
Just in all the pedestrianised areas.
Would have been a lovely place years ago
Yes I'd liked to have seen it in it's heyday.
I worked at Ashtons
Ah, hope this brought back a good memory of that PT EU?

Ha ha... well there you are @user-xw3zu1gm4q !
Any asian from ipswich?
I'm sure there must be friend!
It's a dump, served by an incompetent local authority. I left Ipswich in 2012 to live in in Norwich. Best decision I ever made. Suffolk is wonderful, but Ipswich is an eyesore.
Ah right Geoff! Pleased you are happy with Norwich, we love the city too.
Its a town not a city, Its big brother Norwich is a city, and a lot more too it,
Thanks for putting us right Aj, all the best to you!
@@LivingWalks you're welcome, hope you're coming to Norwich
