I left Lake City this day and did a 32. Camped at the water source you met the 75 year old hiker at. Spent all night beating the snow off my tent (snow doesn't slide off DCF like it does other materials 😢). Got up early and did the 9 miles to the CDT/CT split in the freaking heavy wind and blowing snow. Was glad when I hit the giant decline heading towards Molas Pass. An hour after starting to descend, I was at 9k' and it felt like summer. Crazy night/day on trail. Looking forward to seeing your experience. 🤘🕓

Sounds like you’ve still been crushing it :) The wind has been absolutely brutal up high. Looking forward to the altitude drop in New Mexico just to get away from that if nothing else

I agree clothes being made today should have pockets big enough for a phone, nearly everyone is carrying a phone somewhere on their person. Good luck!

Such amazing views. Great you get to do the San Juans before winter weather kicks in! Thank you for sharing!

I'm surprised you don't have a coffee company sponsor; you are a walking ad for caffeine.

Ha! I’m far from an expert but it seems like actual sponsorships are few and far between unless your a much higher level athlete type or a much bigger channel. Which is kind of unfortunate considering how much of an impact coffee and audible have on my hike

Where you crossed the Rio Grande was about 200 ft from the source

Wow, talk about a stark beauty in those hills! I had envisioned more like forested mountains, not realizing that much of the trail is above the tree line. Wind just cutting through you! But still, making good miles considering the altitude and trail. Hike on! Tortoise

I think Matt is too far south to meet up with Night Crawler.

@@leeannsnyder804 I’m currently just starting New Mexico. Rumor has it I’m currently near the front of the bubble. So people around me are either really fast or have taken some of the bigger shortcuts

Also keep in mind that Night Crawler's videos are over 2 months behind. I think it is a safe bet that Night Crawler is either finished and off the trail, or not finished and off the trail.

thank you for bringing back my daily coffee routine!! rookie question here that is always eating at me. so most hikers i see will have the tent with the floor and walls seperated. doesnt that let all the cold air into the tent?

Single wall tents actually have to be ventilated a lot more to prevent condensation. It’s one of the quirks

At least you were able to capture some wildlife for Taters to see.

Oxygen is over rated. May be my new favorite quote, up there with well that doesn’t entirely suck, and classic, don’t put that on TH-cam,
