    Five years after my mom died, I went back to Iowa do find her gravestone. What I didn't expect was nearly a foot of snow dumping onto me and everything around me the day I arrived - including the gravestones. But I made the best of it, and after a morning of digging up graves, I finally found my mom's. Also included are some pictures of the less morbid things I did during my time in the Quad Cities. Nick- Don't apologize for crying. I have been watching since you worked at the hotel in Davenport. I remember when your mother was sick and passed away. I totally understand how you felt and how you feel. My mother passed away unexpectedly this year on June 4th. My brother and I cremated my mother and got some keepsake little urns. I went on an 8k mile cross country trip this summer and took my mother with me. I left a little bit of her on top of Sentinel Dome at Yosemite National Park. Take care.

      Please fine a niche for her somewhere. I say this because I worked at the coroner's office. After a generation or two, these urns turn up in the hands of careless family or strangers and we take possession of them and throw them in a potters field.

    Nick, your video was not at all creepy. From a time of grieving to a time of celebration, everyone and every culture has its own way of dealing with death. And while it snowed there, sometimes the best time is right after the snow fall when every thing is decorated in white. Your pictures captured that beauty

    Well, I haven’t been able to see my mom’s grave since we buried her last April. I’m not emotionally stable for it. She joined my dad whom we buried in 2021. I talk to them every day, this is how I cope with losing them. Have them on my fridge all smiles, saying my good morning and good night to them every day. I guess this video was a reminder that it’s ok, i can go see their graves and be ok after it. 🖤

    I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost my mother a couple of years ago. I haven't gone back to her grave yet. I watched this because of the title. I thought that maybe one other person is having the same issue as myself. But ,alas , no. I had the need to knock over the care takers as they buried my mother. I just wanted to dig her up out of that cold ground. So, I don't go to mothers grave as I don't want to be arrested. It's starting to sink in now that mother is really dead and not cold or in pain. It's taking me a long while to work through moms death. My heart goes out to you.

    My Dad died when I was 4. Because of family circumstances I was never taken back to see his gravesite which is in Texas but several hundred miles away. At 22 I decided it was time to return there. After all those years and thinking I'd be walking a cemetery alone just wandering. As I pulled in something just told me to take the last drive in. I parked in the middle of that last road and started the first row of graves to my left. I found my grandparents within a couple of minutes and my Dad next to them. I'm sure the other people driving down the road running by the cemetery or even on the interstate could hear me wailing for a good 20 minutes. The sense of sorrow, loss and yes anger just poured from my soul. My Dad died just before Christmas driving drunk and just happened to

    • @dcricket1
      @dcricket1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry....meet another drunk driver at what the DPS at that time estimated was about 80mph at midnight. I never knew or admitted I was angry at his drunk driving until my soul poured it out. I'm sure the lady at the sheriffs office where I went to inquire about who to have his headstone pulled and replaced because after almost 20 years it had settled thought I was there to report a crime. My face was red and blotchy and my eyes were red and almost swollen shut and we don't want to mention the black mascara eyes and red runny nose. I too did not expect this emotion. I knew I would be sad but nothing like this. As heartbreaking as it was it was the best thing I ever did. After I got home I knew I was at peace now. God bless you for completing your quest. I pray you too have felt the sense of relief. It wasn't just a grave marker it was leaving a heartfelt reminder to the world she was here and she was loved.

    My sister Michelle who was only 19 years old when she died in 1986. Where she is buried is a part of the newer graves at the the time of her untimly death. She has a plack type grave stone like your moms. It is certaintly a pain in the Ass to find her when I want to visit her which is often. I hated trying to look for her even though i know exactly where she is.She hasnt moved for 36 years now. I do how ever go one row up but at least its in the same place. Though my older brothers grave which is in another Cemetery in his Wife's family plot his grave Stone is easier to to find. Which i wish my sister grave would be too.

    Guys stop being so mean to him he is going through a hard time in his life!! What if your mom died how would u feel! Loosing someone hurts even though I haven’t lost a family member in my main family I can still know the feeling by trying to be in somebody’s shoes! Have you ever heard about that.. If not I guess you haven’t been a good listener in school! We should all stop letting people feel bad about themselves! There would be a lot less suicidal deaths if we stop hating!! Thank you for your time! Make a difference in this world! (I’m 14) I realize that this video was posted two years or so ago but still!!

I even recall seeing your snowman albeit partially melted and praying your family finds relief. So although bittersweet seeing this video, I hope you find a little comfort knowing some slightly strange woman nearby is helping tend to this beautiful memorial for your mother for no other reason than just knowing that feeling as well. Your a good son but we have known that. Actually it reminded me of my experience doing the same thing only I thought it was part of the cost which had been paid. Two years after I could return I discovered there was nothing but a piece of card board with her name and dates. Needless to say I stormed into the cemetery office furious that there was no plaque (she is buried next to my dad). Long story short, they ordered one. I couldn't understand why they hadn't contacted me about it. Memories come up when we least expect. Good you can feel those emotions and still express them. Remember the good times and be thank for this Thanksgiving Day.

    yes him and his sister has some of her ashes in a little urine sorry I can't spell to day but any ways even though they each her ashes to have her around does not mean the rest of her ashes didn't get baried next to her mother because I know some friends of mine kepted some of there dad's ashes and baried the rest of the ashes next to there grandma and grandpa there dads parents and if she was not baried there he would not been able to the paper saying where she was baried

      How is Purple Heart the rarest when almost 2 million people were awarded it? The Badge of Military Merit created by General Washington in American Rev-War, is a badge that gets awarded for the same reason as Purple Heart. If anything the rarest is The Victoria Cross
