- In this video I demonstrated how to paint Chair rail molding, or any other molding for that matter, quickly and easily using tape, caulking, and a good brush.
I’m a using a new Sherwin-Williams name brand brush. It’s not so much of how you hold the brush - it's how the bristles land on the paint. Make sure the bristles don't exceed the corner. You want to isolate the bristles and bend them from a left to right angle.

Sir, so u tape, then clear caulk block, then paint...how long does the clear caulk need to sit b4 painting? This video makes it appear that u paint immediately after caulking..is that the case? Thnk u 4 your time.
If you were painting the walls would you do this different. my papering has improved thanks to your channel.
Thank you Ross,… If I were painting the walls, I would do it differently. I would approach it with doing it in either of the two following ways: number one: I may spray the trim first and then cover it and then do the walls. Or, I would paint the walls first and then a day later put tape on the walls and paint them just the way I’m doing in this video. But I would mask the walls just above the trim and just below the trim
@@spencercolgan great i like the idea of a drop black in the white paint. Heard that trick from an old semi retired painer over here. I am in florida on vacation right now. Might give it a try see how it works with our paints at home that being johnstones by ppg they make glidden i see over here
Quick question; You said you want to remove tape as soon as possible. I assume you mean after "painting" as opposed to "caulking", as the caulk needs to set up like what 30 mins or so? So after taping off, you caulk top and bottom of trim, wait that 30 mins, paint, THEN, get tape off as soon as possible? Thanks.
You are correct my friend; caulk it first then Paint it quickly but don’t rush it and then pull the tape off right away and you will get a perfect line.

If you are painting the lower half of the wall white too, should it all be semi-gloss?

Could I use a few drops of black acrylic craft paint, or does it need to be interior latex paint? Also if that won't work could I use a few drops of dark navy blue instead of black?

@@spencercolgan explain the trick with the clear caulk again. Do i need to do that on an untextured wall? I have chair rail all around my dining room. Also, i noticed you were using regular masking tape? Better than the blue tape?
