This dedication to a brand is unheard of in the gaming industry. This is a corporate giant, deliberately taking on a huge risk for a chance that they might yet revive people's trust in Final Fantasy, in Square Enix as a whole.
People often look down on XIV players for their "cult like behaviour" when it comes to XIV, but when you have all this background information, how could you not have the utmost respect for the dev team and the company that allowed this to happen. Knowing all this, the game just hits different you know... And depiste all the success, Yoshida and the team remain humble because they learned the hard way that becoming arrogant will make you crash hard.
Yeah, its basically the 14 dev team treating us like human beings and valuing each and every one of us that a good chunk of the playerbase feels the need to defend their work even though the work can stand on its own, especially those of the playerbase who knew it used to actually BE bad. (1.0)
People often forget Squares history. The company was close to insolvency as it could not get buyers for its game. Squaresoft at the time decided to throw all their energy behind one last game. The name Final Fantasy the first game in the series. The game went on to sell well on the Famicom system as Nintendo at the time co-published the game due to how cash strapped the company was. The game was so well received that it revived the company and the rest as they say is history.
Final Fantasy is to Square-Enix's as Mario is to Nintendo.
@@everyonethinksyoureadeathm5773 as much as I love the "final fantasy was called final cause it was squares last ditch effort to save the failing company!" myth, this is 100% false.
The real reason it was called final fantasy is because Sakaguchi wanted a name that would be simple and easily recognizable for both western and Eastern audiences. So he came up with "FF"
The original name for ff1 was going to be called "Fighting Fantasy." However, this name was trademarked by a different tabletop rpg under the same name so it changed to Final.
It had literally nothing to do with Square's financial situation at the time.

Why do I get the feeling Yoshida and his dev team is gonna do something crazy epic again after the end of endwalker like how they did ff14 1.0 just a tingling feeling. I'm totally going stay till the end
They hinting at the moon, endwalker is the last expansionof the Hydalean V Zodiark arc, something big is definitely going to happen.

Endwalker will end the entire Ascians, Hydalin/Zodiarc storyline... Endwalker will basically be FFXIV's End Game (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

@@ironwolfsaber2739 Even if it's just a myth, that's still the legacy Final Fantasy left behind. From what I gather, the title meant different things to different people at Square. Regardless, it's an undeniable truth that Square was in a bad spot before FF. If it weren't for the success of FF, Square Enix might never have released some of their best games.
Regardless what the title was intended to mean, it was the start of a new beginning for RPG fans and a company who was struggling to make a name for themselves.
Well... this same team also developing ff16 now, my most reason to buy ps5

Sadly the msot they'll take notes from is probably how to add a prompt to stop players from logging out LUL
Unfortunately, Blizzard is now just a corpse flailed around by Activision. So every time you complain to Blizz, remember that your just complaining to a carcass. Who you should really be airing your complaints to is the necromancer propping up the dead body; Activision. And we all know how benevolent, kind and caring Activision is...
Microsoft bought Blizzard recently but eh, I dunno about Microsoft either. We'll see what they do with Blizzard. Either its gonna be another Activision greedy, cut-cornering bullsh*t or a clean slate for the company. I doubt its gonna change much unless they wipe the people in charge completely and hire competent ppl.
Yoshi P pulled a fucking Goku, he rallied and organized the team and put the whole fucking company on his back and did the impossible...he did not do it alone, but who else could have quarterbacked a miracle rebuild in half the time WHILE working on the original game !? it's Insane !!!..He will forever be GOATED and respected in the gaming industry! I cannot wait for FF14 Endwalker as well as FF16!

Folks were vicious with the attacks of how "bad" 1.0 was. I was there for all of it, from beta to now. I have stories.. many stories.. and many memories..

with that lawsuit Blizzard needs to either be shut down or fire them all, including the president, and get people in there who care about the game. I don't see that and expect it to crash and burn finally. I told everyone only Blizzard can kill WoW and it seems they are doing it.
@@Koakoa45 The top management and some of the higher up needs to go but we really don't want to affect the livelihood of all the people that works there.
i think it might be too late for blizzard with activision in charge and they would their own Yoshi-P to fix things which is very unlikely.

My biggest pet peeve about FF14 is that there isn’t proper world drops, early game it’s really tedious getting gear that is equal to your level since it’s too expensive and selling the stuff you find is worth nothing! I miss the feeling of being level 6 and slaying a random mob then getting a armor piece or weapon drop
have you tried since 5.3 (last summer)? gearing gets a lot better in heavenward/post, but the changes to streamline the early game have really made gearing much better than it used to be. I will agree that world drops would be appreciated for a few things though, especially cool rare chase items
The thing is, after your first class, it's not a problem anymore. You're supposed to struggle a lil'bit at first.
@@derpaholic_rex756 i did start playing again the other day, i noticed a bit of change and its not too bad anymore! i obviously dont expect an mmo to let you reach max level in a day of casual playing! overall the game is fuckign great
It's crazy they went through so much shame and strife to then come back as champions of success and make gaming history. Only for the team that did FF15 to drop the ball again and ruin all good faith LOL. Frickin' 13+ years waiting for Versus XIII for them to change and ruin everything in the plot and art design just for the sake of pandering to the Chinese market and their insane rules.

Well Blizzard got too big and now their game sucks. Add on the sexual abuse in their offices I will never give Blizzard another dime of my money. WoW needs shut down or Blizzard needs to fire everyone - including the president. Guess we will see what the stock holders do. I played FFXIV ARR in Beta and played WoW at same time. In January 2020 I left WoW for FFXIV full time. No regrets.
