In FFXI it took "20 hours to gain 1 level"(exaggerated obviously)
The thing is.. That was a positive. You setup a camp and it was all about the social aspect. Getting to know your fellow players. It took me a very long time to get my first Max level because it was about the journey.
But you need to feel progression in some way, beit social, story, or another there needs to be progression. If it just slow for the sake of being slow, then it will suck.
@@hardrada3534 looking at it from todays perspective that is true. But back in 2001 to 2005 it worked fine
Its still true nowadays though. Instead of leveling, people are socializing each other for high end raids, pvp, and guilds. I got so many friends who started out as just a guy from static to people who I chat regularly to, heck even met offline.
This guy was pretty cool. I can see myself watching more of his streams although I'm not really a stream kind of guy.
I had plans to play other games while waiting for ff maintenance to be done, only to end up waiting alongside him and watching whatever he's watching. Very comfy stream.
honestly, his chat can be assheads sometime but these more mellow out streams seems to be very chill to tune into
@@randomboiyo6254 honestly most chats on twitch are really toxic or at least have some sort of toxic people in them... its gonna happen when you have a couple thousand people watching you... always a bad apple or two in a crowd :(

Agreed it really is a impressive story, and gives some newer people an idea why Yoshi-P has so much respect.

The next 2 part are where everything hype up. I am completely new to FF but one thing I can say is that I admire there dedication and it shows in there game.
I want to point out that FFXI still gets over 90k monthly subscriptions, and is still top 35 MMOs in population charts

They added a lot to make the game more solo friendly too. NPC party members, a main story quest line that helps guide you through the game's content, and an achievement-like system that gives you a currency you can spend to get a wide variety of gear for all jobs and levels.
They are patching in a brand new story arc now

Same, well for me it's Asmon, Rich, and Summit. And it's crazy how almost anytime in the day, one of them is streaming (not today tho). Asmon from morning/noon till evening, Rich from evening till midnight, and summit from evening/night till morning/noon.
I love how he was like an hour vid!? 2 more parts!? I can skim it to end up being interested on the documentary even going back to read the subtitle properly and looks genuinely interested at least to me he really looked so keen watching it which is awesome.
Thanks Summit I have trouble reading English, but thanks to your cohesive narration this was very easy to follow. I also like that you go over parts of the sentence multiple times

For context surrounding what Yoshida said about company arrogance over graphics: Final Fantasy 10 was the KING of good graphics back when it came out. I remember being absolutely and utterly blown away by the world and cutscenes when I played it for the first time on PS2.
The FF Community loves FFXIV like the WOW Community hates WOW.
Definitely liking Summit getting invested into the backstory of the development of this game. Following this game since initial alpha phase in 1.0 till now and see the rise of popularity is such a nice thing to see.

Man i remember buying the ps2 network brick for the back and ffxi being in a mmo world that was also FF blew my mind as a kid, that game was so good, but hell was it demanding in the Lvl 75 days. My first lvl75 DRK took forever.

Developement sounds like an absolute cluster. World of Warcraft's original development was very methodical and decisive. Even Guild Wars 1 which had an extremely different design philosophy didnt have these issues. Hopefully some of this restructuring was felt across the company if it actually helped, and even that is unclear from this doc

1.0 looks so much like FF11 lol it looks like they just strait copied a bunch of stuff from FF11 and then tried to just up it... like graphic wise and all that and the old stuff just couldn't handle it
