Matt, that was good of you to try and get the car back to the family, but, it is what it is. It is going to someone that will appreciate it just as much.
I've been fortunate enough in a couple of situations that I've been able to give some things away to those who could really benefit from it. The happiness it brings is priceless.
The best thing about saving these old cars and preserving their memories is that future generations get to see how simple things were. Even if a little less reliable, you could easily fix things yourself when needed in most cases. They may otherwise not know cars weren't always disposable.
Matt - you have a heart of gold and are a genuine soul to have kept in touch with the owner of the red 34 and to offer it back to them. I really appreciate your sincerity and commitment to the hot rod community and like how you keep all the keepsakes and parts from each car and include your personal touch with a “pros & cons” handwritten note about each car when the keys are passed forward. Great job!!!! I am looking to see you and Mike and Steve assemble and get the 34 roll’n..
Nice that you sent along pictures with the car, now Iron Trap takes its place along with Larry in the long evolution and history of this car, which hopefully continues with the new owners. 14:14 Moon confirms there are no snacks in these boxes.
Matt, you are at least realistic. While I loved the car as you said, you do not have room or the time to be able to drive and maintain them all. Your aim is to get them rolling and driving and then pass them on. The Skelly 34 is probably one where you were able to get a lot of history and images and connect with the builder and his family and that is probably where a lot of the emotion is. Just imagine if you worked in the dealership when the car was delivered (or one of the second hand dealerships) would you believe the car was still on the road 89 years after it left the factory. Well done Matt (and the Iron Trap team) for your part in its history.
The red Skelly was easily the the most beautiful car Matt has resurected yet. Looking at it from the rear slightly off yo the right it reminds me of the movie Who framed Roger Rabbit. With it's rounded puffed out bubble look it's kinda cartoonish looking in a good way. It's really cool that Matt explained what he does when he sends a car on to it's new owner. That's definitely something Matt can be proud of as a professional hot rod restoration expert. The new owner is definitely going to love driving it around his town on weekend nights and at meets. The one Matt got is going to be a very interesting build to watch in the future. Matt, Steve and Mike doing whatever is needed to put it back on the road. I hope Matt got some pics of what it formerly looked like.
Loved the cameo by the bunny at 9:59. Where in Texas did it go. Just curious if I should look for it around town. Great meeting you a couple weeks ago.
A great episode. All of us have owned cars that we have sent along to new homes. I look back on many that I wish I could own again. Very emotional to see that 34 leave. I found your channel as you were taking possession of the car.
What a bummer. Yeh I know it has a Chevrolet engine and I know it needs to be a flatty. I will miss seeing it parked because it is a beautiful car. I would never have enough spare money to have purchased it. Thanks for having it around as long as you did.
Have to admit that I was sad to see the Skelly go, but wowie mczowie, that 34 is the dream build and I can't wait to see where you will take this one! Go Iron Trap, Keep Moving Forward!
Liked the --- Bunny ---- that stopped and listened to you in the trailer ----- then went on his merry way ------ Put a few goodies on the new one ---- and sell it to someone looking to get started on a five window ------ Getting much of that Canadian smoke there? -------- Rodney
It was nice of you to try and get the car back to the family that you got it from, but I'm they sold the car because they didn't have the time to take care of it with the rest of the collection. You did the right thing to sell it to the guy in Texas sounds like he will appreciate it if he tried to come up with the price and a trade. 5 window coupe some one will want to build it.
Actually Matt didn't buy it from the family. He found it in a collection and was able to locate the family through information he found when cleaning the car out. The whole story of that can be found in the earlier videos on the car. It's worth watching.
where in texas is it going? i'm in houston. and coincidentally TODAY a shipper picked up a 1960 ragtop sunroof (hot rod) bug for me from ronkonkoma NY. the 85 year old owner (bought on samba) has had it nearly 50 years and cant even remember what size engine is in it..... but sadly it means i will likely part with my 34 ford truck. if you remember my name, my truck is the old alexis dupont hot rod that he bought in 1948 and had until his passing in 2016. still has the same scot supercharged flathead.
Morning Matt & crew! On to another chapter of ITG, I'm sure you mentioned in previous videos, why didn't Larry finish the 34? To many other projects? Or was he in the spirit collecting? Y'all be safe! God Bless!!
He was more of a collector and tinkerer. He liked buying them and owning them from what we could tell. Sometimes that part of the hobby is more exciting to some than driving them.
I love that car but haveing the money to buy it is my trouble and like you i dont like the spare tire holder on the back and wish everybody would write down the little thing about a car b4 one buys it dam good idea 👍🏻
Hot rodders as well as collectors should realize that future generations will not love their possessions ( which by extension involves furniture, art, clothing, etc) so they need to realize that stewardship of these goods means that they will have a plan in their will or they will send these things off to new owners themselves who will appreciate it
I think this project you got is a great car. If you fix it yourself or hand it on to a new owner who will finish it does not really matter. What is important that it will be a roadworthy car sometimes in the future. Saving cars is more important than holding on to them forever. Once I went to far and gave a very good car to someone for FREE. (He had me pestered that he longed to have this car). I told the bastard he could have it but he should make it roadworthy again. It was a drivable car when I got it. I even gave this idot the title and all the paperwork I had for it. He just dumped it in a corner for over 20 years and did not even start fixing it. He had promised to help me for free on one of my other projects. Two times I asked him for a favour and two times he declined and he told me he wanted a lot of money for helping me. But it did not even stop there. After nearly twenty years I could have gotten two cheap parts cars. I called him and I said as he did not plan to work on the car at all, I would have the time and parts cars now to fix it myself. His shameless answer: I want "a lot of money" for storing the vehicle! I hope Karma did bit his ass! I bet he had sold the vehicle already for a lot of cash.
Matt, that was good of you to try and get the car back to the family, but, it is what it is. It is going to someone that will appreciate it just as much.
I've been fortunate enough in a couple of situations that I've been able to give some things away to those who could really benefit from it. The happiness it brings is priceless.
@@TrashcanGarage I am at a point in my life where I do the same thing, some things just need to be let go.

That 34 was one of my all time. favorites, because it looked like 1960 !

I like how you include present & past everything about the car since you had it in the bin. An excellent practice!
Oh no. The rod that attracted me to your show. Havnt missed an episode since then.
There will be plenty more to come...👍
Welcome to Texas, Skelly '34. Maybe I'll see you around here. You did a great job, Matt and Company.
One of my favourites, I absolutely love that 60's & 70's era of hot rodding. I'm glad that it will be preserved as it is.
Nice that you sent along pictures with the car, now Iron Trap takes its place along with Larry in the long evolution and history of this car, which hopefully continues with the new owners. 14:14 Moon confirms there are no snacks in these boxes.
Moon missed out on the bunny at 10.00.
Bummer. I would have Loved to have that 34 in my Garage!!! Sweet car.

Somebody has probably already purchased the 5 window , great hot rod .Sad to see the Schroll go, that car brings fun memories..

Bitter/sweet moment for you all. Your attention to all things is remarkable and truly laudable. Best of luck with the "new" venture.
Thank goodness you do that for the car Matt . I’m with you on the plate on the back of the car.😊
Happy 4th everyone! Good to see the Skelly go to someone who will enjoy it as is along with the box of extras and its history.
Thanks for all the fun with the 34.....time to move on.....
Moons doing a hell of a job better put him on the payroll 🤣
Strange how good things seem to happen to good people.
You was the guy that 34 needed🗿 Thanks for sharing Matt
A great episode. All of us have owned cars that we have sent along to new homes. I look back on many that I wish I could own again. Very emotional to see that 34 leave. I found your channel as you were taking possession of the car.
I did like the Skelly car and glad to see it go to someone who watches the channel. Looking forward to see the progress on the 5w.
I see that the wood floor in your upstairs garage, is getting some added character with some oil stains.
Yep happens quick even with the use of drip pans!
Cool, I saw you find the 34, fix it up and now send it off to a new owner.
Rabbit photo-bomb!🤣 at 9:58….

Everyone it seems is happy
Good choice on the sale/trade.
Nice looking trade car
Hi guys, the basis of the new project is beautiful, it's a bit sad to see the '34 ford go away, i hope to see the start of the new project soon!👍👍👍👍
I will miss seeing the Skelly car but I am happy to hear that it went to a home where it won’t be “modernized”
Sorry to see her go!
Another awesome coupe !

Great Trade- Nothing like a 5 Window
I was sad and SOO happy..good ending..gotta get a pic with him and his family standing in front of it like the prior family did with you.
I’d wish those cars were cheaper here in Brazil. Would be a blast to have one to enjoy the roads.
Hey Matt, enjoyed the video, good luck with the 34...Ralph
Man, that 5W is sweet!

Hot Rod getting it's seal of a Proval from Moon !
Hello from Memphis. Kinda sad to see it go but if you kept them all you would need another warehouse.😢🤠🤠
The Larry Schroll estate "unearthing" was the first time I caught your channel.
What is it with you and rabbits? Another great video guys!
They are hard to part with but A CHOPPED 5 WINDOW!

Did David sell the car he got from you guys?
I must have missed the Freiburger deal. What car did he purchase?
The 39 forgotten hot rod
I came to the channel when you fired it up for the first time and blew acorns out the tailpipes.
10min ... you bringing bunnies back from the swap meets now
The new owner lives in my town and I’ve seen it.
Thought I saw a rabbit! 🐇

Deal making, moving on.
power with a 337 flat head or v12 zephyr
I apporve of the new 34 too bad you dont have enough time to build it. Its pretty bad ass lookng.

Must be a lot cheaper to deal with old plates there. Washington state (taxem to the max) horrific cost.
Nice Video. I'm behind on my Videos. Happy 4th of July.

Ok.. How did selling one car and getting another one give you more space? Is that like daylight savings time? LOL
Ooh first!
Please Jesus, let there be an overhead valve in this fine automobile. Amen.
Chevy, hemi, nailhead, variety is the spice of life.
@chuckstith3840 anything that could RELIABLY power the car from coast to coast. In otherwords ..... not another charming vanity motor.
Hey Google, thanks for not giving me a notification, sorry as wipes.
😂🗿
Anyone else catch the bunny photo bomb at the 10 minute mark?
Why did you do that
Time to get rid of the finished 34 Ford because of too many projects, so naturally you trade ot for another 34 ford that is in pieces.
I would of sold it to the family for a discount price or just give it back to them
Really? That’s very “virtuous”. Do you collect anything?
If I had your money I’d probably give away a $35-40k car too.
if you can't say etcetera properly maybe you should stop saying it
In the Philadelphia area, that's the correct pronunciation.
