Can't be watching these vids in the summer, I'll end up with 3 new boards before the new season even starts
I see no problem here 😂
Just bought a board a week ago.... now i want 5 more.... (Nz mid season)
Nice to know I’m not the only one lol
Facts!
I know the feeling.. might have even more boards before season starts
thanks for the video, now i have to buy another $1000 board
My girlfriend just ordered it for me. She heard me speaking with my brother. I now need to spring for some light bindings. As an an old boy I think I'll get the Burton Stepon X's. Great content gentlemen.
Stoked ! Thanks for the Support!
Forget the bindings. Buy her a ring!
@@eksrfr Out of stock in Aus and she ordered me a 25 from the States plus Atlas Pros! Definately ring worthy!
So stoked you guys are back and dropping this crazy board on us.
Thanks for the support Homie!
I hope this review helps from a rider on this board for 100 days!
Hi guys. I'm 49yrs old and I have 4 Mega Death boards. Two 157W (2023/24 & 2024/25), one 156 and one 159. I love them all. I'm thinking of getting the 161W too. Capita sent me the 157W 2024/25 for free. Shout out to them. This board can be for beginners, intermediates and advanced riders too. Nothing weird about how it rides. It's like a snowboard you know and trust what it will do BUT does it better!
What I liked most about the Mega Death is that I've been riding it all season 2023/2024. I took it to Zermatt, Whistler, Sun Peaks, Big White, Vail, Park City, Kitzbuhel, Ischgl, Solden, 3 Valleys, Val d'Isere... the list goes on!! I'm just putting those places out there so you can figure out the conditions.
1. Yes, it's super light. One might not think about this but having to carry your board in the resorts can sometimes be too much. Especially true when you have to walk for 20-30 mins. Being light also helps with having to carry the bag in the airport! So being light helps and this board was light.
2. FAST! This board OMG! You'll thank me when in flats. I've passed skiers pushing multiple times on flats and honestly this board was worth the price just because of that alone! I had to speed check myself multiple times as I'm not too comfortable mocking down runs. You point this thing down and it will boost, turbo boost. All boards are fast when you wax them but this board excels without any effort to go fast. It just wants to go fast. It's great in powder too!!! I was seriously impressed.
3. Stability. I think this is where I love it the most. You have that camber under your feet which is perfect. Not an aggressive camber like the Aeronaut (super aggressive and catchy). Perfect amount of camber with the rockers well placed to give you those easy turns in and out. Perfect turns in groomers and powder. The balance was great. On ice-packed groomers, you'll have to be a bit aggressive to engage the contact point for a solid grip due to that rocker in the nose. The tail was great too, that small amount of flat-rocker doesn't make it washy and catchy. The tail is just great on this board. Circle carves, euro carves, mellow carves all great! Easy to ride switch, just don't put too much into the turn. The tail will grip faster than the nose.
4. Pop. Has pop when you load it up and has pop when you don't load it up! I'm 49 so nothing above a feet or two for me. I haven't hit rails, only boxes and small jumps and it was perfect. Not sure if it's a board for medium jumps. Has anyone taken it to medium and large jumps. I took it to a very small jump and felt my knees saying "why?!"
5. Damp and lively. I love how this board is both damp and lively when in different terrain. Then again it's the bindings that complete this equation. You'll feel EVERYTHING with a Union Ultra (if I recall correctly), the Union Force was a great balance with this board. Also the Burton Cartel X was great too. The Cartel X was the smoothest ride on this. However the Union Force was the perfect balance!
I'm not sure if I missed anything... I'm 5'8 and 200lbs. I hope this helps you guys when purchasing. Last but not least, their customer service is just AMAZING!
Thanks for the real world review. How did you find the 156 compared to the 159 for your weight? I am the same height and 188lbs (happier at 175), size 8 UK boot and have just bought the 156. After getting it I had a little bit of buyers remorse and thought for carving a 157w might have been a better option. Did you get to ride the 157w yet? Comparison to the 156 if you did. I can’t wait to get on the board in December..I also have the Mystery Hometown Hero & Jones Freecarver 6000s for this year so I will have a blast or get wrecked 🤷♂😅
@@Mark-n4c9t Hi there.... I only rode my 157W and 159. They both felt the same. I haven't ridden the 156 cause it was snowing hard mid April in Europe and I wanted a bigger board. I'm going to Cervinia in November and I'll let you know. I'll be taking the 156 & 161W. Around that time it's more firm conditions with a lot of icy patches, if not everywhere as it's a gracier. I'll come back and report. I'm 205 now, should be around 200 in a month. Will update that too. I forgot to mention I wear a size 10/10.5 boot. It's probably pushing the limits with the 156.
@@SAS-by4bt Thanks..it will be interesting to hear how you get on. I will be in Morzine/Avoriaz in mid December & Serre Chevalier in mid January. If I love the MD I will consider getting the 57w as well. Does the MD work as a daily driver at 49? I am 52 and thought it might be a little much daily effort to keep on top of the board 6 hour plus riding a day 😅
@@Mark-n4c9t Hi Mark! I'll be in Serre Chevalier 7th of Feb! Is it a daily driver? It's the only thing I ride. It's damp and reactive at the same time. But it's more damp! If you combine it with Burton Cartel X binding, ROME Katana pro binding, it should be a great combination. If you want more lively ride it with the Union Force binding. It's a great ride and your feet will be fine. If you want a BEAST of a board that is similar to this, get the Bataleon Thunderbolt!! I ride that 159W. That board is special to me. It's the only board I'll take with me when I visit a new resort. Why? Because it's damp, fast, goes throw everything and very stable! I only have one complaint about the MD; it's very fragile. The top sheet on mine seems to get chipped all the time. I'm not an aggressive rider, I take care of my equipment. It's just fragile, like Union bindings, they are fragile too.
@@SAS-by4bt I was in Serre Chevalier last January & end of March (stayed in Chantemerle). Decent snow on both occasions. I will be taking the MD as well as my Freecarver 6000s..can’t wait! I use the Step On carbon X binding..as well as the Nitro Darkseid boots..super stiff and crazy responsive set up. Hopefully works well with the MD!
I love every video you guys put out. Need more!
Cheers! we are on it!
i'ma second that 4 tha record
From the footage, it looks like you guys had it in pretty soft/excellent conditions. I’m really curious how a super light board does in heavy, chopped up snow at speed. I’ve always enjoyed some weight in skis/boards for the dampness it provides. Hard to believe super light doesn’t equal chattery?.
would disagree with this these days. I have the ultra mountain twin and it's super light but very damp.
Hard to Believe but its true in this case - surprised us also as we say later in the episode!
You mean Europe conditions then
@mattpowell5797 Yes it was a bit bucky and bouncy. It's very lively. It's certainly a level above my riding when it comes to that type of terrain. But when on groomers it amazing. When I took it to Val d'Isere in April riding light fluffy powder it was amazing too! But bumps, mogels and chop it was bouncy for my level.
@@thewraithize Try to find powder in a resort 1 day after snow dumped in the US. In Europe, you can find it days later.
Usually, people who don't care about the weight is because they have never tried light gear. Now at my 40's, weight is the first thing I look for, especially when you like splitboarding. But still, for everyday riding, light bindings, boots, and boards, are amazing. Once you ride really light stuff, you don't want regular gear.
Great Comment! We Couldn't agree more !
As an older rider myself what are the light weight snowboard options. Need new board but a grand is a little much
That deck looks like a game changer. Too bad that they didn’t make it in the 165W or the 169W for us Sasquatch’s. We would really benefit from that light and snappy construction on a bigger board.
I'm the same, size 13 boots but I sacrifice my size 14 toes every season to fit in those 13 boots. Kills me how many boards we miss out on because of foot size and toe and heel drag.
Totally agree. Would love a 169.
Great video, awesome footage. I've been chasing light boards since the Burton Vapor and some of the Palmer honeycomb offerings before that. Good to see the concept getting some love again rather than "just eat some muscle cheese!" copypasta. This board looks sick!
Palmer honeycomb brings me back to the good ol days.
I tried mine for the first time today...I paired it with union falcors...Its awesome soooo light it make a big difference...So stoked to go back
Awesome!
Just tried the Mega Death on Shops First Try in Alpbach. It is hands down the best snowboard I’ve ever ridden. Super light and agile. Definitely getting one! With the Union Falcor bindings, this thing is probably the lightest setup there is.
Hopefully the top sheet on this board from the ‘mega’ lineup is more durable that the past seasons. I love my mega merc but the top sheet is not resort friendly, people just love to bump into me in the lift lines, and by people I mean mostly skiers.
Annnnnnnd I just bought one. Lol. Thank you for doing this vid. I trust you guys and would love to go on a run with Mark. 🤙

Looking to replace my Super Doa
@@JD_Therapy I live in Kansas, man. Been boarding since I was 7, but only get to go 2-3 weeks a year. Earliest i will get to ride will be in February.
Ill probably buy it based on reviews seems to be really nice board, I live in Toronto so get to snowboard quite often
@@JD_Therapy jealous. At least you’re close to some slopes being from Toronto. It’s an 8 hour drive to the Rockies, but it’s worth it.
Got one on order....off to Austria in January 👌
Lucky! they seems to have sold out everywhere very fast!
Greatest board ever ridden!!! Bro 😮 highly recommend
Oh man I just baught the 2025 version in 165W love this board. Coming from a BSOD 169W I love how mellow and popper this is then the BSOD
I knew it! The Mega Death is a Slayer! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Debating between the MegaDeath and the PYL Uninc - mainly free-rider, spending time between trees and in bowls and glades if I can but occasionally hit the park and of course ripping groomers on non pow days - haven't bought a board in 10 years haha Size 12 boots
Would love to have a BSOD shape with just a little easier torsional flex. Hope expanded sizes come out. 169w
This board sounds extra promising. excited to check it out. that said Hayes brothers snowboards was doing a bit of this stuff back in 2004. not all of it, but definitely playing with a lot of the composites, a base grind and high end poplar wood cores.
Any idea if they plan to make larger sizes? Possibly to match the BSOD sizes?
With the pre season success we have seen I would bet they expand on the sizing for year 2!
I am stoked to see whitewater!
Hey guys! Got this board and loving it (great recommendation!), but finding the reference stance a little too wide. Do you guys have a preferred stance on this board? Should I be moving the front binding back, or the back binding forward? Thank you!!
A lot depends on your stance width , and what size deck you have, your riding style, and what type of terrain and snow you ride on. Generally speaking, all the capitas stances are relatively centered comnpared to other all mtn freeride boards on the market, which are shifted back further. I'd 100% be sliding the front binding back to narrow up your stance on this board.
I’m twitching for snow
sounds amazing. more crash clips, please. 😂
Can you guys do a review on the Capita Kazu??
Love your content boys. Keep em coming
Thanks for the love Mike!
Have you guys tried the Jones Ultralight Project X? Just curious how that compares to Mega Death
Thank for a great season of reviews/ presentations. How would you compare Capita megadeath with Jones stratos? If you can point out the dampness/less chattery, carving. Thank you so much
So it's to the BSOD as the Mega Merc is to the Merc?
I noticed riding my Mega Merc last season how fast the board was in spring snow, the pop it had off side hits and the lightness the MM 157 had in the air compared to my Slash ATV 156 I rode the previous day.
I've been riding wider boards as of late: Yes 20/20, Sick Stick Hillside and Orca with reg size feet. Debated a W board for the extra surface area float; but decided on the 157 in the end for slightly quicker e2e transfers.
Really think a Black Splitboard Of Death needs to happen next. Get more directional split for us mortals that aren't riding switch.
Dig the videos. Keep it up!
Any idea when the website will be back up?
I love the videos ! I'd like to see more advanced technical content like the waxing or binding placement part 1-2.
We have some great vids on those topics :) check some of our last season shows!
I've seen those already, I meant that it would be great to have more of that type of content in the future :) @@tributeboardshop
Ah yes ! We will have an updated Binding Epi this season 👊
I do like the capita base and it makes a cool ‘vvverrrr’ noise when you are in crusty icy snow going fast. I got last years bsbod.
Ready to buy
So nice had to watch it twice 💯🤙💯
How does the camber profile and flex compare the the standard BSOD? I tried last years 159 BSOD and I found it a bit lack lustre compared to say my Mullair, EJack or a Flight Attendant. Much less pop due to minimal camber and, what I felt, was a softer flex then those boards in the same length (that being said, BSOD more playful at slower speeds).
So unless I missed it in the video, the question I have is does making it in the "Mega" construction only make it lighter or is the camber/flex beefed up as well?
One, these guys wouldn’t know.
Two, go to Angry.
Great review. You look like you were flying down the mountain!! Is the base glide faster than the Stratos?
Might be a little faster! Jones bases are damn fast also tho!
Awesome. Thanks for the feedback and your videos are greatly appreciated and helpful!
Love it! How long until they start trickling the tech down their lineup?
How about some bigger sizes?? 165-172? Big guys want nice boards as well.
When would you choose the BSOD over this board, price not being a factor?
One thought is if you are a Bigger Human - 6'5+ and over 240.... then the BSOD would be the better Board at this time . we are sure Capita will make the MEGA in larger sizes but for now this is it!
@@tributeboardshop is this as damp as the BSOD? Handle variable conditions as well as BSOD?
Capita have the best boards for a few seasons now
How does this board compare with the mega merc?
would love to see this as well
Like always in snowboarding: superlight and supergood...
Dont you have a scale?
And what is a weight of other boards?
Therr is no nombers in snowboard market, only riders and emotions..
Sounds like an epic board! Is there ever a downside to a board being so light? It sounds like they've figured out the secret sauce.
It is less damp
I sometimes forget I'm still on the Board and start walking to my Chalet.
Oh and also, If a Skier puts hi gear over my board in the queue, Ille punch him in the face no matter what.
Other that that it's fine.
So is the BSOD the same board but heavier?
This is a little less stiff too
So the Mega Death has a really lite core. Less weight equates to less moment of inertia. A contender, the 23-24 Ride Commissioner, has a metal laminate top-sheet to increase weight, and that helps to increase speed when approaching the fall-line. I wonder which is faster.
The purpose of the metal is not to add weight. Metal has been used in alpine boards for ages.
Who makes that camo jacket you are rocking in the video?
Burton AK!
What size do you recommend for my specs?
190lbs size 9 boots looking for using it for pow days and free riding days. Thanks!
Keep up the solid work guys! Love the content.
What’s the perfect binding to compliment the mega death for resort? Freeride? All in one?
I use the falcors and love them
I was looking into the sizing of this and I am sort of torn between the 159 vs 157w. I am 6' 175lb with 9.5 boots. My preferred boots / bindings are Photons with Genesis Step-Ons because of the balance between responsiveness, weight, and comfort. Do you think I would get too much heel / toe drag on the 159 with deep carves and look at getting the 157w?
go 157 W ( if there are any left anywhere!) the added waist width is great if you love to hard carve!
Depends on your stance angles & placement! Flatter angles require a wider board.
So what you went for finally ?
I Mike and Shane, how does the Mega Death do on groomer for eurocarving and side hits ? Thanks 🙏
Its Incredible for that style - Progressive sidecut is the best for absolute edge control!
@@tributeboardshopin between Mega Death and Aeronaut what would be your pick for eurocarving groomer and hitting side hits ? (Powder perf is a plus for me as I unfortunately don’t encountered some often). Mega thanks !!
In this case we would be leaning towards the Mega Death ! @@chocorider
Thanks for the vid, guys. I was gonna pick up a YES PYL Uninc this year until I came across this bad boy. How do you think the Megadeath floats in pow compared to the PYL Uninc?
Did you guys get on the Jones freecarvers? I’m really curious how those boards ride.
We did! That Epi will be out next month 👊 thx for the support
Can you compare this to the old Burton T6?
Need this in a 152.
Want to confirm what I was hearing from Mark Morrison...was he saying that he rode the deck with his front binding a little bit forward of reference? Making his stance a little closer to centered?
Thanks much guys!
Dave mustaine approves this snowboard and video
Snapped my Mega Merc in half this winter. Do you guys feel that the Mega Death is worth the switch over for all-mountain riding?
We do , its edged out the Mega Merc just a bit in overall freeriding capabilities!
How did you snap your mega? Sending it or
My Super DOA also snapped (rock). its over priced and too stiff. The light weight may have even been a negative in choppy conditions. This board looks great though, I want to like Capita. Might go back to my tried a true Ride boards, I had a good one (Machete) for half the price back in the day.
In terms of flex, would the Capita Mega Merc be softer or identical? Thanks
Mega Merc is actually stiffer !
Where did you film and how much more or less aggressive compared to the Aviator 2.0?
Filmed Near Nelson BC - We would say a bit more forgiving that the Aviator , this is a bit softer in the nose.... in a good surfy way!
Yes, i love a lite board also, and wish mfg would list how much a board weighs.
Jones does. Most don't because weights aren't consistent from board to board.
Maybe +/- a few grams. It's totally a cop-out by reviewers and manufacturers not to provide average sample weight.
I have last year’s 162 bsod and I’ve been looking at the 161W in the mega death. Is it that much different of a ride from the bsod?
Tbh the bsod didn’t really blow my face off and I’m either buying this or the 161W Indoor Survival.
What size boot are you?
@@evianmyst 11
Was the 162 too narrow for you? I’m also an 11 looking at the 162
@@evianmyst not at all but I demoed a wide board and I like how it stayed up on edge and felt a little more stable on side hits (probably all on my head). But ya not too narrow and I ride +18 +3. Just make sure your boots are center’d

Great video! I'm 6'0, 11.5 boots and 225lbs. Thoughts on a size? 162 vs 165w. 162 has 210+lbs weight rating and 165w 220lbs weight rating and both similar waist widths. Thanks.
165 for sure. It's a freeride board.
Hey - I am 5'9, 154 lbs, size 7.5 mens. I am using a Yes Basic Uninc 152 and loving it. Would the 156 work or is it too much board for me? This will be my first directional board. Thanks!

Hey thanks for the great video, I have just put an order in for the 2025 model but I believe I need to go up to a 162 instead of 159.
Can you recommend what size I should go?
I am in between intermediate and advanced I guess, 97kgs, 185cm tall and have 9.5 to 10 US boot.
Thanks in advance!
159 is a sweet board to ride, very quick so hold on tight and it's so worth it 😆
I love mine, took it to Japan and carved up a storm! I can say it doesn't disappoint!
@@tribalart88can you tell me your weight and height at all?

I want to know what their boot sizes are.
Hi Guys, what is the optimal binding for a 157w? For AllMtn Freeride. Thanks
Thats a hard one but lets say The New Union Force with this board , we rode that combo A LOT!
How would you compare this to the orca?
I have an orca and my mega death just came in the mail. I'm going to take it out on Sunday and I'll let you know 👍
I just rode it for the first time and let me tell you, this thing popped so high off a roller that I landed wrong and wiped out because it jumped so much higher than I am used to on the orca. Also this thing feels litterally half the weight of the orca. The orca feels so heavy now. Also this thing is WAY faster than the orca. I don't even feel like I'm slowing down at all on this thing and it straight line's extremely good like I'm locked into rails. Definitely worth it
Oh wow! Thanks for the review and glad you’re happy with your decision. I wonder how it’ll preform in steep/deep pow
What hill is this?
how would you compare mega death to mega mercury?
So is every light board gonna be better in free ride or only this specific one? btw. when was it recorded? how come there's so much snow
We live in the Kootenays so we always have that much snow 😃 - Light board that find the balance with dampness / sidecut / overall shape will be preferred for a lot of riding conditions.... we don't see many in the market due to the material costs , but this board might wake the industry up and we wouldn't be surprised if more are available in the years to come !
For a 6.2ft, 205lbs, 11US boot size dude, would you recommend the 161W or 162 for resort carving/riding groomers? Currently I ride a 162 Burton paramount with awful toe/heal drag.
Always choose the wide models ....especially if you like to "Carve" !
I’m 6’ and 200lbs with 12 boot. I ride the 161w yesterday and blew my world. Best free ride/all mountain board I’ve ever ridden. Extremely damp and confidence inspiring. I prefer wide boards tho since I usually ride aggressively and leave trenches everywhere for family’s of fat skiers to fall into 😂
I used to ride only Burton and since I had hook ups, I always had their best ride to try out. I rode their MYSTERY CUSTOM (ultralight weight hybrid CUTSOM) but it ended up breaking on some hard landings. I eventually made it to CAPITA. The Mercury is my ride now and I love it. How would this board compare? I like groomers and mid /large kickers and side hits.
The MD is of course much lighter , and actually a but surfier in flex than the Mercs ,,, Slightly different turning radius also - this is becoming our go-to for free riding! I would still grab a Merc for variable days , or for a Banked Slalom Race!
@@tributeboardshop But do you think the MD could be an acceptable replacement for my 2022 Mercury?
For Sure! @@labialounge

I wish they made this is bigger sizes! Does anyone know how much heavier a Black Snowboard Of Death is?
The BSOD is still decently light but this is just thr lightest
Amazing review you guys sold me on this! Only issue is that it's pretty much sold out everywhere. I'm 5'10" 180lbs and I have a size 12 boot. Would you guys think I should get the 157W or the 156? I also didn't know if it would be much slower on the wide version because of the contact point is bigger. I ride a 153 orca right now
Man I wish they made this in a 153
How much does it weigh?
Hi Mike and Shane. Thank you for all the amazing videos and contents especially the stance video. I would like to seek for yours advices please. My current ability level is low-level-intermediate to maybe mid-intermediate. I am currently just riding 100% resort groomers, however I am looking to build on:
1) My switch riding (currently able to S turns, but slowly with loads of skidded turns),
2) Start to learn basic ground tricks,
3) Eventually venture into the park for basic features and small jumps,
4) Continue to work on my basic riding fundamentals and not get sloppy with lazy back leg,
I am 5'9" (176cm), 185lbs (currently looking to go to 165lbs by December), US 9.0 feet (27MP).
I recently got off a Nitro Team 155cm, found it was a little too stiff for my liking as it took a toll on my knee and feet (but probably I'm just lazy unfit fat dude lol that never gyms or stretch before I hit the slopes). But I will get fitter by end of year! :p
Currently looking for boards with ALMOST full camber; not looking for 100% catchy-ness but also don't want too much rocker in tip/tail:
(i) Capita Pathfinder (cambered)
(ii) Capita Indoor Survival (154cm)
(iii) Burton Instigator Purepop
(iv) Rome Warden
(v) Salomon Assassin
(vi) Amplid Ticket (or Ticket Twin)
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!
The Capita Pathfinder is an incredible board for the money - with the info you provided that would be the choice we feel is best! Happy shredding man!

Much love but how can you rave to that degree about a board, almost entirely about its weight, and not throw it on a scale and give us a number?! 🙏🏼
Probably part of their authorized dealer agreement, don't share specs that aren't on the spec sheet
Mind blown! How stiff is it - is it true to the 6.5 Capita give it?
Capita always feel so fast. Their bases are dialeddd. Ride and K2 are the closest IMO but still not as fast
Mine snapped in half. Broke easier than any snowboard should ever break.
Seriously? 😮
I wish they made bigger sizes I like riding 170ish free ride boards especially with a long pow nose like that just not enough effective edge for me 230Lb ass
