There should be a stripped down version for beginners named the "Near Death". And one for the old boarders with bad knees named "Way Past Death" or "Death Please"
Or 'nearly deaf' 😂
Afterlife 😂
Death-Breath
Looming Death - coming from a 51yr old snowboarder ;)
Or just mega dead.
Finally, a deck that will allow me to boost over a family of 400 fat skier kids!
I was watching all your old reviews earlier this summer, so seeing the progression of the video quality is wild 😂
I just bought one and put on a new pair of katanas. Your reviews helped inform that decision. Thanks!
I got to demo one finally. I am 6'2" 220 lbs and all they had was the 159. I was totally surprised how well the board size suited me. My BSOD is a 162, and I would most likely do the same in the Mega, but damn it just rode so well. I had the opportunity to smash some deep pow (12") and it still floated great for me as well. The only thing I didn't really get to test was super high speed groomers, that's where the extra length may help with stability. The first jump I hit was crazy as it felt like there was nothing strapped to my feet, it just wanted to fly.
I am most likely going to have to pick one up next year.
One of the few models from capita I'm excited about sounds very good for a fella like me. Every other type of board I could take many other brands but this one is high high on the list for freeride decks.
I like the chunky tip and tail edge. I wish more boards have this.
I finally got my on hands on one… dang it’s amazing, I was going to only ride it when conditions are good but I’ve found I can’t get off of it!
I really appreciate the dave mustain mug shot in the thumbnail
That's it...I'm sold.👏👏
Hi Angry, thanks for another great review! Picked this up. Was thinking of riding these w my 2021/22 Katana’s. Do you reckon they are enough for this board or too soft?
Go for it.
Capita Megadeath or Korua Otto Plus, for one board all situation but focusing on carving and speed runs, park mainly jumps and pipe and ocasional tree runs ?
Favorite setup/ daily driver: 2021 BSOD (DEATH MACHINE) 161W, 2020 Union Atlas bindings, K2 Thraxis boots. 6'4 210lbs
I am that rider what you may have seen in other reviews as the guy who has loud aggressive death metal blasting in their ears doing Mach Jeezuz down the mountain who likes to lay trenches indicative of the BSOD rider. On fresh groomers all you want to do is carve it. Powder is easy and floaty The BSOD handles tracked out runs with incredible ease as well as. I can freeride just about anything with this setup but spend almost zero time in the park. The Mega Death seems to be the next level BSOD I have been hoping for, not to say the BSOD was lacking. The lightness was also a huge selling point. (Also a MegaDeth fan...), seems to be the next level from what I want as a speed/ carve/ freeride demon. Review from AS tells me all I want to know especially since I know the profile and I'm sold. I have already purchased my Mega Death @ 161w and will be using my K2 thraxis boots and Union Atlas Pro bindings. First runs will be in Mammoth, Vail, Big Sky, and Zeramatt. This all being said I will still keep my BSOD and compare
How does it compare ? 😁
Just bought the 162 stoked
Enjoy it man
Seems like you really liked this board. What size did you ride? What size would you recommend for a 205lb rider with 9.5 boots?
sounds even better then I expected.
I’m hoping to be one of the ones that finds it on Facebook Marketplace next summer 😂
Facts this and the aeronaut 😂
@@floccgotti7095😅k😅
Hopefully some people who bought it for looks slam and hate it and sell it wuick lol
Aw man, this review has me so stoked for the season. I was gonna get a PYL Uninc this year but this has me wavering. Love snappy, poppy carvers. However, my free ride board is also my pow board. How do you think it floats compared to PYL Uninc?
Get the PYL UnInc.
@@AngrySnowboarder Also thinking about getting this board and using it for free ride and pow days that aren't super deep, and using my dedicated pow board on the crazy deep days. Still recommend the PYL Uninc?
Nice brocephus. Real nice bro 😎
Hey Angry- great review. I feel like I’m a lot like you as far as style goes I like to ride the Ferrari on occasion. But then have those lazy days. You didn’t mention which board would be your daily driver for those lazy days
What board is your go to board?
Ride Shadowban.
In boards the number one thing I look for is turn. From someone who hates a doa and an outsider because the rail is strange and they feel like ass when turning plus they shed an insane amount of speed when you 90 degree them, but absolutely loves the aggressive yet playful feel of the turn on an asymulator, and likes a mercury okay, how is the turn on this? If you've tried the rome freaker it has the same type of too sturdy, non playful cut/rail as a doa and an outsider you might get what I'm trying to say.
Thanks again for a great season of reviews/ presentations, Angry. How would you compare Capita megadeath with Jones stratos?
I don’t do park, but mostly powder/trees/groomer. If you can compare the dampness on uneven terrain / float in powder/ carving experiences for both boards. I always hear that capita is geared towards park thus the hesitation and leaning towards Jones Stratos. I would appreciate your recommendation. Thank you.
Watch both the reviews, the information is in there.
Thanks for the great review. How does the Mega Death compare to BSOD in edge to edge transition going slow? I tried the BSOD a few times and like its characteristics at speed, but going slow, the edge to edge transition felt a bit clumsy and not very smooth - will this feel equal with the Mega Death or is the Mega Death more responsive going slow? Thanks a lot
Mega is smoother edge to edge due to more torsional flex but it’s not as damp when you get in rutted or variable terrain.
Mega vs BSOD, that would be interesting to hear more about.
Mega for more speed on groomers and railing carves. BSOD for more dampening in rutted out terrain and plowing through uneven terrain.
@@AngrySnowboarder so your saying i need both and 2 of each in 157w and 159
@@AngrySnowboarder Thank you Angry! 👌👌
The Mega Death is comparable to the Pantera... I sense a metal band theme starting here...
Nice review, and yes agree about the quality. How would you compare it to the Mega Merc, how different is it?
It's lighter, more responsive, more aggressive on edge, and more freeride oriented.
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks! In other words, it's just better, it seems like? Is there any good reason to keep Megamerc then? I feel like this can be a good trade. How about the shape of the nose? Is it the same flat? Everything sounds very attractive, It would be nice if it also could swim in the pow like spoons, but probably in that case it would lose some grip, oh yeah.
Hello Avran!
I’m 190lbs size 9 boots.
Should I go with a 156 157w or 159?
Thanks!
Keep up the solid work you do!
You don't need the wide. 56 if you're looking for more playful but 59 is probably where you want to be.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks avran!
Any comparison thoughts vs the Aeronaut? I have that in the 157 and LOVE it. As a freeride addition to the quiver, I am looking at this in a '59 or so (once they show up on facebook marketplace 🙂) Is there enough contrast in these boards?
If you're buying it for a go fast on perfect groomers or banked slalom board sure buy it, otherwise save the cash.
Picked up a 161W - now I need to decide whether I shed my Passport, Excavator, Alchemist, or Flagship. Flagship might have to take a hike.
Flagship would be the one I'd dump.
Great review! i am 5'-9" 180 in a size 9 boot. Is the 159 the right size and would the Union Falcor be the wrong binding for this?
Falcor will work if that's what you want. 59 will work as well.
Thanks! I have the Falcor, so it would save me some bucks 😂 @@AngrySnowboarder
Also i currently own a bsod and i love it! Just i little too skinny for my feet.. thinkin 157w is the way to go?
You act like I know your stats.
hey Angry. I'm 6'1 175# size10. mainly using this for NW Pow and all Mtn Freestyle. You think the 159 will float well enough or 162? I assume Force's over Ultra would be your suggestion if not the Atlas Pro? Appreciate the review!!
You really kind of want the Atlas Pro on this, Force will definitely work. For your size the 59 should do the trick.
@@AngrySnowboarder appreciate the feedback!!
Do not go with the Force, it's not enough binding for this board. Go Atlas Pro or Falcor if you want Union.
Fun review.. you can really make me see the picture intresting..
I Need help with the size a bit .
I should go with the 161W or 162 ? or any you ..
My size right is
187cm / 6.2”foot
76 kg /165-166 Lbs
Boots 11.5-12 US
Bindings Atlas Pro over the Falcor you say ?
You definitely need a wide.
Get rid of the flagship for this? Thoughts? Excellent review angry!
Your call.
What length was demo’d?
Were you able to ride this in powder and how did it perform? Would you recommend it as a good freeride board that can also handle powder while?
It's a snowboard, it has snow in its name in the first part of it. If you make a snowboard that can't ride pow it's no longer a snowboard.
Are the tip & tail widths correct in the specs on that Evo link? In some sizes the tip is wider than the tail, as I'd expect. Other sizes the tip & tail are the same width and others the tail is wider than the nose. That can't be right 🧐
I never trust their specs.
Great review !
I’m 5’9 165LBS size 9.5 boots ride skill I’d say advanced intermediate , what size would you recommend I get ?
55ish
@@AngrySnowboarder okay, it comes in a 156 and I was able to pre order a 159 . Guess I’ll just wait for a 156 to drop and cancel my 159 . Thanks brotha!
Hey thanks for the great video, I have just put an order in for the 2025 model but I believe I need to go up to a 162 instead of 159.
Can you recommend what size I should go?
I am in between intermediate and advanced I guess, 97kgs, 185cm tall and have 9.5 to 10 US boot.
Thanks in advance!
I'd do the 62.
@@AngrySnowboarder thank you for your quick response, I'll update my order :).
Keep up the solid videos mate!
Need your recommendation.
Missed last year due to ACL surgery.
As you said I'm old, knees are shot and I want a board that I can ride easy and not feel alot of BS so my legs stay fresh amd I can ride longer....
Thanks in advance
OK?
Is there going to be much of a difference between Mega Death and the 2021 BSOD, the anniversary one with bit more flex? Or is it too much overlap ?
There’s differences but not enough to warrant getting the mega in my opinion.
How is the ride in comparison to the mega merc? Currently using one as daily driver. Ride less than 5% park.
Little more snappy and responsive, more aggressive on edge, lighter.
Just had word mine drops at the door early December ..now..binding recommendation 🤔
There's 3 options at the end of this video.
Interesting the Pantera was a comparable board - how would you compare the Highlander or the Ride Commissioner?
Those are WAY Gnarlier.
It sounds amazing but I just can't get over the price tag.. £910 in the UK which is around $1150. My car cost less than that.
Wait til you see the price tag on the apex golden orca 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You'll have more fun on the snowboard though 😂
@@Atsaki13 Probably also faster
How do you like this board vs the Ride Algorythm/Jones Mountain Twin? For an everyday all mountain board.
They're not even in the same league.
Hey avran! How does this compare to the 2021 bsod??? Should I just keep that and ride it? Thanks!
It's not as stiff, it's got a faster base tune on it, more reactive but also more lively. I'd say just roll the BSOD.
In terms of flex, would the Capita Mega Merc be softer or identical? Thanks
It’s similar but there are subtle differences.
I like that T
How would this compare to the Capita Mega Mercury 2023? Seems like they would be fairly similar?
Shaping, sidecut, flex, weight of the board, etc are all different. They sit in two different categories.
Bro im an lower intermediate and I love the ride zero and my Whitespace amf I was looking for a new board is there anything you would recommend?
It's almost like we need to have a video series were we give a list of boards we think would be good for people. We should probably do that. th-cam.com/play/PLuW-gT2uGJQ6Dr3Yx23HM4qiaWxxfb5fM.html
got it!
So this or the Amplid Surfari? Looking for an all mountain board that leans towards free ride. Pretty damp, pretty stiff, still responsive, and is great for just high speed everything from chutes to trees to straight lining groomers. No park, no jib, switch not super important.
Neither of them.
@@AngrySnowboarder really? Then what board? My current is an Arbor Clovis, but want something a little more aggressive and a little better for high speeds
If you had to pick 1 would u pick this over the ride deep fake? Are they comparable?
If I'm riding it daily it's Deep Fake. If I'm just going out to cruise fast and showboat occasionally it's Mega Death.
Worth picking up as a dedicated freeride board if i already have a mega merc I daily drive?
No.
Hi Avran, would you recommend this board to someone who is an intermediate to upper intermediate rider looking for a good all mountain, but primarily resort, style riding?
No.
100% *NO*
Go for the Mercury
Only thing I struggle with on these boards, is what size to get :D
@extropy are you in between sizes ?
I come from park riding, I have a 157 Mercury now.
Moving to a 159 might seem to long long, but the 157 is a wide board on this.
So spendy but man I want to try it.
Hi Angry Man, thanks for the great reviews! I am looking to pull the trigger on a Mega Death, I am 5ft11 240, sz 11.5 boots, riding East coast and own a 162 MindExpander that I find too soft. Should I go 161w or 165w? I ride groomers, trees, chunky trees, pow days… Thanks for your help!
If the Mind Expander is too soft this will be too. Look at the regular black snowboard of death.
I find my MindEx perfect everywhere exept for carving on groomers, I will keep it, any board suggestions? Cheers
Waiting for the Mega Warca of Death.
What size did you ride on this board?
I am really unable to decide between the the mega and the BSOD. I am not really concerned about the price tag. I want a great charger for groomers that’s going to not let me down in trees, moguls and pow. Do you think it is worth the extra money? And does the reactiveness of the mega „kill the fun“ in uneven terrain?
This has more torsional flex to it which will make it far more nimble. You're going to sacrifice some dampening though.
Wantwd this board badly, but could only find 1 actual board in a 161w in my country(Australia).
Hoping i can possibly find a US seller that might ship here.
use a forwarding service and suck up the cost if you want the board
Winters coming bois
Hi , i use 2024 indoor survival with union force bindings for jumps and all mountain on 156 . I am 5.10 88 kg, I was thinking to get this beauty now in the summer sales in 159 combined with union atlas ( not pro ) for the freeride days/also resort. I would apreciate your opinion. Thnx in advance
I forgot to add that some days i use a capita super doa that a friend gifted me and i find it to be honestly very pleasant in 156 also, stable and presable for butters
Sounds like you’re thinking of buying this board.
in your opinion is it a good purchase ? especially in 159 for more freeride days, seing your review seems suitable. I ride around 30 -40 days per years so a diferent board for pow-freeride days would be nice. Any other suggestion is welcomed or binding combination. Thank you
@@AngrySnowboarder
Any quantifiable measure of how light it is? 10% 20% compared to some other board?
Unscientific bathroom scale weigh in while holding my 162 gave me 6 lbs even
@@evianmyst about the same weight as my 156 bataleon thunder (similar flex rating)
How does ‘24 BSOD compare to ‘23?
Noticed that you said ‘23 combined ‘21 + ‘22.
More/less/same torsional flex than ‘23? Maybe making it extra stiff if MD has more flex than BSOD.
No change in 24
How does this compare to the 24 KAZU pro I’m stuck between both of them as my new board
We have a review of both.
Having the same price for Mega Death and Nidecker Thruster. Which one would you choose?
The one I want.
How does this compare in terms of smoothness/dampness to the Korua Otto Plus, particularly in crappy conditions? Is it significantly smoother or is there not much between them? Thanks
Otto is more damp.
@@AngrySnowboarderThanks, that's a big help. I'm surprised though, especially as the Plus line has a reputation for not being very damp. I guess it's all relative when talking about two boards stuffed full of carbon!
Thicker core with more dense wood and a different fiberglass layup.
Comparison to berzerker ?
great vid
Hey Avran. Do you think this is a solid option to add to the quiver as my current daily is a Super DOA? Thanks dude.
Too much overlap honestly. I treat this more as a specialized board you break out for ripping groomers or doing a banked slalom.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks for the reply! Do you have a top 3 I should consider adding to the quiver?
We do have plenty of weekly top 5 videos covering multiple categories, probably should start there.
which one would you recommend for carving this one or the stranda biru ?
Warp speed on a Sunday when you're being a princess this. Carving all the time Biru.
This sounds exactly what I have been searching for… if only they made my size. Absolutely gutting.
PLEASE @CAPiTAcinema make this in bigger sizes!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
How does this compare to the mega merc and which one do you prefer?
More aggressive on edge, faster base finish, little more damp.
This or the Pentaquark for carving, chopping through stuff and high speeds?
Pentaquark for cutting through things, this for groomer speed.
I’m 48, have a 2024 Mind Expander and a Skeleton Key. I’m looking to add a Capital to the quiver. Should I get this one or the Aeronaut?
I don't know, you're giving me vague details to go off of like I know you and your riding style.
@@AngrySnowboarderhe told you he’s 48 😂
Hey Avran, I’ve got the first year (2021/22?) model Mega Merc which I like but it feels a little hooky but I use it as my hard charger/free ride. I also have last years PYL UnInc as my powder/free ride deck. You think mega Merc and mega death have too much overlap or should I ditch the Merc for the mega death?
You don't want to ditch it.
This or the mega merc as an all mountain freestyle? Cheers Av
Mega Merc is definitely more all mountain freestyle, this is a bit more all mountain freeride.
Did you ride the capita party shark. I think it has the same side profile
That is one I never got to ride.
Mustaine must be proud
What do you think about the Yes Pyzel?
It was one of the worst boards I rode for this season.
Naughty board, I need it
Love my BSOD! But, it’s just a little too stiff. I would love to pick one of these up…maybe next season they will expand to 165-169 sizes? Hoping, pretty please Capita
Why such a long board, are you 300lbs?
230lbs. Weight is one factor sure… I also have size 14 boots so toe drag is an issue, and I’m 6’6 with a 24 3/4 wide stance so I end up with not a whole lot of nose or tail with smaller sizes. I have a 161w BSOD which is great in tight tree situations but just too small for really opening it up since my stance pushes my feet past the front camber. I also have a 165w which is actually still on the small side for someone my size but I make it work.
How come you don't say what size board you rode anymore? I'm similar size as you. And am interested in size you rode? Extremely interested in the megadeath. I'm thinkin of ordering 157w?
Because I know that it will piss you off.
Haha
Hey! I’m wearing a size 7.5 boot. Would the 156 work or would it be too big?
Do you mean too wide?
That's right, do you think my feet will work work with the 256mm waist width?@@AngrySnowboarder
@@nicholaskho989 If you're a competent rider you're going to be fine and you'll understand that it takes a bit more leverage to get it on edge. If you're not a solid rider you either need to learn or look at a different board.
I’m 190 6’1 size 11 thinking about pairing this with step on X with Burton ion. Usually carve groomers, find fresh tracks all over the mountain, and occasionally hit some side hits. Would 161w be a good fit?
dont destroy this board with burton step ons lol. it would be insane with cartels and k2 thraxxxxxxis boots like i do on my BSODs
@@ryancuda45 hahah ok I’ll look into the k2 boots. What do u think about the sizing?

What are your thoughts on this board with the atlas fc?
Seems like a bit overkill with that binding, but hey if you want to spend money for the sake of spending money go for it.
Capita Megadeath vs Jones aviator 2.0 vs Ride mtnpig. Which one is stiffer and which is best for resort high speed all mountain?
Stiffest to softest MTN Pig, Aviator, Megadeath. Depends on what you want out of the board performance-wise.
@@AngrySnowboarder i prefer stiffer boards and going fast so I am leaning towards the MTNpig.... BSOD 2016 was a little too soft for me.....

Yes, TC rode that.
Amazing!
I remember that band..lol
Where are the wall mounted board racks from?
What size board did you ride?
I wish they pressed it in the 165w and 169w for us Sasquatch’s. We’d really benefit from the lighter weight and poppy love. Are you listening Mothership?

@@AngrySnowboarder Hesitating as I’m a light female rider with small feet but loves to charge off piste but enjoys carving on groomed trails as well. Hopefully, 156 is not too wide and won’t be hard to carve/turns coming from a 148-150cm boards. You’ve been great as always! Thanks Avran
As a Slayer fan I was unsure whether I was going to watch this but fuck it... Does this beat the Freecarver for laying trenches?
