Hi Mike. Thanks so much for this video. It certainly helped me out. If you will allow me, I do have one suggestion to make it substantially easier (I actually got the idea from your video when you took the fan off of the shaft to help you reinstall the assembly). I found that you do not have to take the fan motor assembly out of the fridge to swap out the motor. If you take out the screw that holds the assembly to the back of the fridge (to give you some "wiggle room" and remove that plastic J-tube looking thing (it just pulls off, no tools needed) you can then pull the fan off of the shaft (you can even leave the fan in the fridge), then use a small 90º philips screw driver or a short stubby screw driver snaked behind the various tubes to remove the four screws holding the motor in and then just swap in the new motor and put the fan back on the shaft. That way you don't have to wrestle with the motor assembly and risk breaking those tabs on the bottom.
I did this last week. But instead of replacing the motor, I put some 3 in 1 oil on the shaft and reinstalled it. Works like new. This was just a stop gap measure until the new motor comes in, but it got us going again for now.
I did the same, and also could not get the fan housing out. That's the most frustrating thing about this video, they skip over the part that was the most difficult (depressing the tabs and getting the housing removed.
On my model LRFVS3006S, even if you manage to unclip the fan/motor housing, there is simply not enough space to take the housing out. Ended up replacing the motor without removing the housing. What a pain in the butt it ended up being.
Same issue.. expensive refrigerator, 3 years use… Just ordered the fan motor online. Had to pull it out to get the part number down. Crazy… Have a $100 mini fridge in the bar w 8 years of use.. no issues whatsoever.
1yr after this video and the part is still hard to find,LG calls it a guide fan part#MAE427731 eBay has a bunch of used ones so good luck I just super glued the fan to the motor pole so it doesn't slide forward causing the shaking
My LG is also only 10 months old and started making a thunk sound followed by a mechanical motor sound for a few seconds. When I called LG they believe it is frost buildup and the fan is hitting it causing the sound. They want me to defrost the refrigerator for 8 hours. I see no frost on the inside of freezer or refrigerator so don't see how that can be the problem.
I had bought it online, you could plug the part number into google through the search bar and you will get many websites of where to buy the new motor for the refrigerator. If you have any other questions, just let me know. Thanks.
Easy fix but unacceptable that this is happening prematurely for so many people with LG failing to fix the problem on their own dime. How many people paid LG $400+ for a tech to do this? The part is under $100 It’s a scam and they should be sued until they make this right.
Thanks for this valuable information on where to buy appliance parts. Your videos are very helpful. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! I hate calling a repairman for easy, inexpensive fixes. This video is exactly what I needed to do it myself!

Looks easier to remove the whole assembly than do that

Awsome same LG thanks for the help. And I got my motor at Amazon.
I bent some coils in a very small section of the coil while cleaning. Do you think this is an issue?
This is not the evaporator fan. This is the condenser fan.
Exactly
Hi Mike,
I need that exact motor! I too am having a hard time locating it! Do you have the part number for it?

3:02 You skipped the most important part i wanted to see: how to unclip the fan without damaging the small pipes attached to the fan 😕
Thanks - very helpful.
