This is one of those pieces that you probably have to learn to like if you have no other experience with atonality or the music that is called "contemporary classical." The name "Luftklavier" is programmatic: the piece consists of an ostinato figure symbolizing the quiet, mystical blowing of the wind, surrounded by an eerie theme. I learned this piece for an exam and it was not easy to completely detach the ostinato from the melody that surrounds it. I'm glad I did it, and believe it or not, I actually had some enjoyment with the piece (at least when playing it on a nice grand piano with good room acoustics). What is your impression of this music? Feel free to let me know in the comments! All the best and have a great time, Magnus
If you have time, Would you mind doing the theme of “Mystic Mayor” by Danny Elfman, the link’s here. m.th-cam.com/video/541RJjA_Zbw/w-d-xo.html It’s a ride from Disney land long ago though couldn’t find nice piano sheets for it.
Dear Magnus, what a great performance! Can you please say, what exactly did help you to detach the ostinato from the melody? How did you practice it? Thank you very much for your answer!
To me, it felt like beeing in the middle of a bee-hive 🐝🐝🐝🐝. Just my association. Well done Magnus! Well played! I really enjoyed listening! Good luck on your Finals!
