I feel like this comment section is a safe place to say this, so I'm convinced something shifted in 2015. Like we shifted into a parallel universe or something where big picture things were the same, but details changed. Like I was surrounded by all the same people, but personalities changed all at once in a small frame of time, including mine. Weird things in society and the world as a whole started happening that confused and surprised everyone like they could have never been a thing before that point. I can't really describe it well in a small text, but any time I bring it up to family or friends, expecting pushback or them saying I'm crazy, they always pause, think for a second, and say, "You know what, I kind of agree." Being a spiritual person who appreciates science, I figure it was some sort of energy shift, but nothing has felt fully "right" to me since then and nothing traumatic happened to me around that time, so idk.
I have tried to explain this but whenever I try to voice it out loud I fail to find the right words to truly express it. The world just isn’t the same as it was. I can agree that I started feeling this way some time around the year 2015. The sky is different. World events are just …off. I mean I know the way things are unfolding aren’t supposed to happen this way. It’s all wrong. It’s like someone went back in time and changed something and messed it all up.
2015 was the start of the time when I stopped being able to be interested and happy at my family biz. Had to leave and find something else and some other purpose/meaning. Now I wrestle with the idea that I made a mistake. Something just is off and it feels wrong, but I can't go back.
I remember thinking when I was a young teen, noticing how as I got older, the less real life felt and seemed. Like I was observing through a lens/glass that got thicker as I got older or more experienced. So I felt less alive and connected to the world as I did before. Now at 47, I question if I’m even here and did I even do that, or was I even there…. It’s not a good feeling. I feel alone most of the day, could be the constant addiction to the smartphone were all in This is all the theme of the Matrix.

I've had personal experiences that convinced me years ago that we live on a simulation ,experiences collaborated by other people. Synchronicity and coincidences beyond explanation .
The ancients used to say the world is neither true nor false. So, I think the world happened, but it was a temporary enterprise, very much like a simulation... The year that never happened will not soon be forgot.
The butterfly example is so good, because I have really been feeling that theory lately. While we are in a dream, we all accept it like it is perfectly normal. All of a sudden we are on some cruise ship in the middle of the ocean and in our dream we are totally fine, like we have been on that cruise ship and in that life forever, nothing out of the ordinary. Only after we wake up do we realize wow that was strange! Our brain is so easily susceptible to accepting a false reality

I swear I slept 3 times in my dream last night, kept waking up in my dream with time lapses, like “Dude what happened, your wife was cooking and then…did I miss dinner? I only had one beer. I must’ve been tired. It was only what, like 7pm?” And then I’d go kayaking, sleep, and wake up lost, and familiarize myself with my surroundings again, only to realize I was in the same locale, but a different section of it, like dejavu within a dream. And I’d pick up where I left off.

There's a 4th argument that is never talked about. What if we're not living in a simulation but are the simulation expressing and experiencing itself through us, we make what we call shared reality. Experiencing the experiencer. That people who (supposedly) suffer from psychosis (break from our shared reality) actually see the real world and the full symbolism, also not being able to handle its complexity, they lose control out of fear. Yeah… I thought about it since childhood (7 or 8 yo) when it first come to my mind that we actually unable to know if the dreams are reality and the reality is actually a dream… and another thought I had that what if things we can’t see now (when I come from point A to point B) stop exist… I don’t know why I actually start thinking about such things in a very early age

I had a huge deja vu last week, I was in a trivial situation and for a couple of seconds I really felt that I had lived that moment before, I remembered every little detail. It's very hard to explain, you just feel it. A few seconds later that feeling is gone and you keep wondering what the heck happened.
I have experienced deja vus all my life (53 now) and they have always fascinated me, I still however have not yet stumbled over an explanation to them that did not have too many flaws to make it plausible.

I think age certainly plays a role in this. I saw an episode of Through the Worm Hole that discussed how time is experienced differently as you age. In younger years, your brain wants to experience every detail. As you age, your brain takes in less information. To describe this, the episode talks about this in terms of “frames per second”. Younger ages sees the world in more frames per second than older ages so the experience of time is faster as we age. Which is interesting. I also wonder how the advent of video social media and our distraction by it affects our experience of time. I catch myself scrolling through reels or tiktoks for hours at a time. That HAS to have an affect on our experience of time. So maybe our collective embracing of technology speeds up our experience of time/life? Or we’re in a simulation. Or all of these things combined. Fun to discuss lol
Time used to come to a dead stop at work, and flew the minute I went to sleep until I got up. Sundays also flew by, knowing I had five days to look forward to at work. Funny how that happens. I still don't particularly enjoy Sundays.
i was just thinking about that!!! how when we are little kids, everything is new and vivid. all of our senses experience so much all the time. but as we grow older, i feel like we start to be less present because we don’t need to take all that information in anymore. i definitely think the growth of social media and scrolling has added to this. when i was younger i used to feel so much more alive. sometimes i try to view life as i did when i was a kid and look around at everything around me. it definitely makes me feel more present. it’s odd because i struggle with feeling present sometimes so i’ll do meditations or mindful practices. but looking at things through the eyes of a child, makes me feel so much more present and alive. so i’ve been trying to do that more. it really is crazy that we exist at all so i want to feel present as much as possible.
Also, you can think of it this way- when you're 1, one year is 100% of your experience. As you get older, one year becomes less and less, time dilation kicks in, and ya, life speeds as you age.
interesting, but when we are young every experience is new to us and while we age we start to live by certain routine. i think the time would move slower if we try to do something new every day, thats how we make memories and live in the moment.
I feel like when kids in math class would say "when will I ever use this in real life", if the teacher had said "to be able to calculate if we are living in a simulation", that would have been more then enough to make everyone shut up and sit down.
Not a fan of the simulation theory, but heard of a similar story. I have read about a coma patient case online where, he while comatose experienced another life with wife and kids. And when he woke up, he couldn't come to terms with the fact that it was all a dream and grieved over the loss of his family.
A computer simulation despite the internal components, runs on electricity. All matter in ther universe held by atoms has protons and electrons. All of our body functions and perception of life is action potentials (electricity) fired by neurons, held by molecules, held by electrons. (Electricity) Yes we are in a simulation. Black holes & gravity give us our shape. Creating orbits, galaxies, stars, planets, moons etc.
I always felt like everything is too perfect or too "obvious", either we are extremely lucky and life as we know it can only exist in a perfect setting like we do and that is why we are lonely in space for now, we were "set" to be perfect in a perfect environment by science of some form maybe as a simulation itself, or our civilization's "drive" for perfection and getting as close to it as possible, making everything around us make sense and actually cheat ourselves to believe everything we know now is meant to be like that making an illusion of a simulation by actually simulating life around us in a way we expect it to be.

What is weird is that I've been into aviation my entire life. I used to watch the blue angles pilots train at LRAFB on their simulator. I had never seen a jet sit stationary in place until a couple years ago.

I had a similar notion when I was about 8 though I didn't take it too seriously. It might have been exacerbated by living in Belfast which is like in a kind of space- time warp compared to the rest of Western Europe
But does it truly matter where we are? If we confirm the idea or not, I think it’s best not to be worried or anxious about this. The best approach to me is to simply accept the reality we live in and try being your best version.
@@rustyrocks69 of course I can't do anything in some respects but being aware and open to the thought that this could be a simulation is freeing and means if nothing else your mind is not imprisoned. It is the same as many philosophy such as Hinduism and Budhism where actual pain and suffering we perceived is linked to material world and the illusion that this is reality. Rising above this helps and that's why it does matter. As morpheus said in the Matrix film most people in the Matrix are part of the matrix and are not ready to be unplugged because they are addicted to the illusion and the false sense of reality.
Honestly if a world that has possibility to create a simulation did, I would like to think they would create a simulated world that is a lot more simple to live in. Something that would allow them to experience what life was like way before the time they are currently living in.
Maybe they already did that. Now they want some drama. They became bored with life experiences where they had no problems and had all luxuries, no drama. They want to experience suffering, for the thrill of it. We ride rollercoasters for the thrill because we know that it's a ride, that will end that we are not actually in danger.
I am convinced that we are continually jumping universes or realities. The changes are very subtle, but they are definitely noticeable if you pay attention.

I just had a baby a few months ago… If we are in a simulation that has us experience growing and birthing a baby and experiencing the pain, then that would definitely mean we can’t distinguish between the two realities. But in my opinion, it was too painful physically and an emotional experience like no other that no simulation could possibly mirror.
Sometimes the simulation glitches for me, I remember so clearly, I dropped my keys on the floor, I look down at my feet to pick them up and see nothing, look at the table to see if they fell there, see nothing, look back at the floor and I see my neon yellow lanyard with my car keys right on top my black shoes. Will never forget this moment.
I remember when i was driving i was at the light and this van drives by and for some odd reason as the van drives by going across on the intersection it glitches like a computer/video game froze up for a split second but kept going... my friend seen it too but we didnt know what to think of it.

My thoughts exactly. I was surprised when atheist Richard Dawkins agreed we could be living in a computer simulation created by more advanced beings. I was thinking, how is this any different from a God who’s the Creator? I’m scratching my head on this one.
My theory: 1. When we die, we don't have any sense of time passing. 2. The probability of such a thing happening is incredibly miniscule but infinity creates everything that is possible, no matter the likelihood of that event to happen... so, if infinity is real, what has happened once will happen again. And since dead people aren't aware of time, we would die and then instantly be birthed again.

In Spring of 2019 I remember sitting on the couch with my partner and saying "Something crazy is going to happen soon. I had a extremely realistic dream that I found out the mathematical equation and codes that are used to change our simulation. I roused a little from sleep and attempted to write these codes down. When I woke up and looked at the paper it was a bunch of crazy looking symbols I didn’t recognize. Crazy stuff!!!
Those crazy looking symbols in your dream were more than likely Sacred Geometry. For example, thought forms/patterns, streams of consciousness, perception, Intuition, psychicness, light, etc. are all forms of Sacred Geometry. Pretty much everything is, including simulations lol. Additionally, the "higher" you go up in dimensions, the less physical or dense that dimension is. Including the inhabitants/beings living in that higher dimension. Given, once we get to the like 8th dimension the inhabitants/beings pretty much look like one big Sacred Geometric symbol floating around lol. I hope all of what I just stated makes sense. As a kid I used to get this sensation for about 20 mins at a time, that reality became more dream like - like reality wasn’t fully rendering for me. It freaked me out, but I never said anything. I later thought it was likely due to ongoing brain development in early childhood and hormone activity. But every time I would just wait to ‘return’.
I used to get a feeling kinda like that when I was a kid but it was the opposite. I would be riding in car or playing and all of a sudden I’d be hit with this realization that “IM ALIVE. THIS IS REAL. ALL OF THIS IS REAL. IM REALLY HERE.” It was terrifying. I don’t know where that feeling came from or why It happened but it hasn’t happened since I was young (8-10). I would also go through this feeling of “returning” but it was back to the state of my unreal life.
Similar experience. As a child, I would ask myself where did God come from. And if he didn't exist, I would not exist. And that there had to be a beginning to his beginning. Then a feeling of nothingness would come over me all of a sudden. I started feeling as if nothing was real and it would scare the crap out of me. I remember one time freaking out and crying. I haven't had that feeling in a long time.
Could you have possibly been feeling depersonalization? I used to get those feelings a lot too but I eventually developed depersonalization and I feel like that’s why I would get those thoughts and feelings
I recently took too many edibles and reality felt like a dream. One other time on edibles I got stuck on a time loop. As for when I’m sober, I randomly look at people from my life and it’s like they’re not real. Especially my daughter. I know I had her but sometimes it’s this weird feeling that none of these people are real. Only thing that feels real is my childhood up until like college graduation.

Some people call it lucid dreaming or astral projection but when you’ve actually experience waking up inside a dream fully aware that you’re dreaming and still able to interact with the people and your environment it’s the weirdest thing in the world. It makes you question a lot of things.
I'll let you in on a little secret because I lucid dream all the time and I know what you are talking about, our dreams do not take place inside our heads. When you dream your mind is being projected into infinite dimensions of reality within the astral plane. I travel through vast worlds sometimes and there is no way that dreams are some kind of internal mechanism.

I used to have this dream, over and over, where I would just start flying, and couldn't stop, until I was in space, over looking earth, still going out further and everything becoming like a screen static slowly. This dream happened for at least a year, most nights.
The thing is: none of us can bypass their interpretation of things, the meaning we give to them and our limited perception. This, mixed up with imagination, biases and judgements, personal stories, beliefs, and character...makes everything a simulation for us anyhow. Our perception of reality never is reality. It's our own illusion.
You are right, there is no infinite number of emotions that we can feel, I see this in psychology a lot, there are 27 emotions that humans can experience so the random numbers generated in the simulation of behaviour is limited to. You can view this as a simulation or just that the base reality is like that naturally without simulations. Or could everything be already defined by the simulation?

For those of you saying our lives can’t be a simulation it’s too boring, what if in the future humans managed to become perfect and there’s no world problems and they made a simulation to go back to when life had problems before our perfection to see how it feels to be a human with limitations and not be in control of anything?
we look at the world around us, we can describe a lot of it using mathematical equations. In fact, everything we see is made up of tiny particles that follow specific mathematical laws. It's almost like the world is a big video game, and everything is programmed to behave in certain ways. And then there's this thing called quantum physics, which describes the behavior of particles at the tiniest scales. It's really weird, but it seems like particles don't have a definite position or momentum until we measure them. It's almost like the computer program that's running the simulation only renders the details when we're paying attention to them. Some people also think that the idea of a multiverse, where there are an infinite number of parallel universes, could actually be different simulations running on different computers. It's like each universe is its own video game. And there are other things that seem strange, like the fact that we haven't found any evidence of aliens yet. Maybe it's because they don't exist in our simulation, or maybe they exist in a different simulation altogether.
Also, you gotta love how people use the rules of OUR simulation (if it exists) to rule out or confirm that we are in one. The power to create a simulation computer for instance. It's all based on the rules of our program. Doesn't mean those same rules apply to the base reality that our simulation was created in.

My point is, we can't use what is in this "simulation" to decipher the rules of the base reality. I oftentimes see sacred geometry, fractal geometry, the Fibonacci sequence and other mathematical representations of form in nature as evidence of the simulation. These examples seem like the building blocks, “pixels” or formulas used to represent forms in 3D space. They’re so “perfect” that one would assume a truly random environment wouldn’t yield such perfect forms.
Well just because the universe is as it is doesn't mean it is perfect or that if something was different life wouldn't occur. It's impossible to know that.
@Mitch Swanson perfect is not a good word to use. What qualifies the universe to be perfect? Nothing. It's not something to use to describe the universe. You would need to know how different universes are, how they can all look like and behave before you can determine which one is the best or which one has the most ideal qualities.

I recalled walking back from the gym in 2013, June 8th Saturday around 11:15am. A tall old guy with dirty jeans and a black leather jacket walked right past me, to a pub that was behind me. As I neared my apartment, the same guy crosses the road in front of me and heads into the bar near my flat. He passes me within 3ft close enough for me to confirm he even smelled like the other version. I feel like it’s easy for someone like Elon Musk to believe life is a simulation, because his life is so incredible. For a guy who works in an office and likes to go fishing and looking for gold in my spare time, life feels so extremely pure and real. I feel like this comment section is a safe place to say this, so I'm convinced something shifted in 2015. Like we shifted into a parallel universe or something where big picture things were the same, but details changed. Like I was surrounded by all the same people, but personalities changed all at once in a small frame of time, including mine. Weird things in society and the world as a whole started happening that confused and surprised everyone like they could have never been a thing before that point. I can't really describe it well in a small text, but any time I bring it up to family or friends, expecting pushback or them saying I'm crazy, they always pause, think for a second, and say, "You know what, I kind of agree." I had a huge deja vu last week, I was in a trivial situation and for a couple of seconds I really felt that I had lived that moment before, I remembered every little detail. I think age certainly plays a role in this. I saw an episode of Through the Worm Hole that discussed how time is experienced differently as you age. In younger years, your brain wants to experience every detail. As you age, your brain takes in less information. To describe this, the episode talks about this in terms of “frames per second”. Younger ages sees the world in more frames per second than older ages so the experience of time is faster as we age. Which is interesting.
I also wonder how the advent of video social media and our distraction by it affects our experience of time. I catch myself scrolling through reels or tiktoks for hours at a time. That HAS to have an affect on our experience of time. So maybe our collective embracing of technology speeds up our experience of time/life?

i was just thinking about that!!! how when we are little kids, everything is new and vivid. all of our senses experience so much all the time. but as we grow older, i feel like we start to be less present because we don’t need to take all that information in anymore. i definitely think the growth of social media and scrolling has added to this. when i was younger i used to feel so much more alive. sometimes i try to view life as i did when i was a kid and look around at everything around me. it definitely makes me feel more present. it’s odd because i struggle with feeling present sometimes so i’ll do meditations or mindful practices. but looking at things through the eyes of a child, makes me feel so much more present and alive. so i’ve been trying to do that more. it really is crazy that we exist at all so i want to feel present as much as possible.

It is the same as many philosophy such as Hinduism and Budhism where actual pain and suffering we perceived is linked to material world and the illusion that this is reality. Rising above this helps and that's why it does matter. As morpheus said in the Matrix film most people in the Matrix are part of the matrix and are not ready to be unplugged because they are addicted to the illusion and the false sense of reality.

Honestly if a world that has possibility to create a simulation did, I would like to think they would create a simulated world that is a lot more simple to live in. Something that would allow them to experience what life was like way before the time they are currently living in.
Maybe they already did that. Now they want some drama. They became bored with life experiences where they had no problems and had all luxuries, no drama. They want to experience suffering, for the thrill of it. We ride rollercoasters for the thrill because we know that it's a ride, that will end that we are not actually in danger.

I just had a baby a few months ago… If we are in a simulation that has us experience growing and birthing a baby and experiencing the pain, then that would definitely mean we can’t distinguish between the two realities. Sometimes the simulation glitches for me, I remember so clearly, I dropped my keys on the floor, I look down at my feet to pick them up and see nothing, look at the table to see if they fell there, see nothing, look back at the floor and I see my neon yellow lanyard with my car keys right on top my black shoes. My thoughts exactly. I was surprised when atheist Richard Dawkins agreed we could be living in a computer simulation created by more advanced beings. I was thinking, how is this any different from a God who’s the Creator? I’m scratching my head on this one.
My theory:
1. When we die, we don't have any sense of time passing.
2. The existence of matter, time and space is infinitely looped on a cycle due to black holes, big bangs, etc.
If the two above are true and 'infinity' is a law of reality, the following must be true:
Reincarnation must exist and it's only a matter of time until a future universe creates the EXACT same conditions as the one that led to you being birthed.
*I'm not saying you will remember anything in your next life but you will experience it like you do now.
*If something is possible, 'Infiniti' will produce it. ...who says the same thing can't happen twice?

The probability of such a thing happening is incredibly miniscule but infinity creates everything that is possible, no matter the likelihood of that event to happen... so, if infinity is real, what has happened once will happen again. For example, thought forms/patterns, streams of consciousness, perception, Intuition, psychicness, light, etc. are all forms of Sacred Geometry. Pretty much everything is, including simulations lol. Additionally, the "higher" you go up in dimensions, the less physical or dense that dimension is. Including the inhabitants/beings living in that higher dimension. As a kid I used to get this sensation for about 20 mins at a time, that reality became more dream like - like reality wasn’t fully rendering for me. It freaked me out, but I never said anything.
I later thought it was likely due to ongoing brain development in early childhood and hormone activity.
But every time I would just wait to ‘return’.
I used to get a feeling kinda like that when I was a kid but it was the opposite. I would be riding in car or playing and all of a sudden I’d be hit with this realization that “IM ALIVE. THIS IS REAL. ALL OF THIS IS REAL. IM REALLY HERE.” It was terrifying. I don’t know where that feeling came from or why It happened but it hasn’t happened since I was young (8-10). I would also go through this feeling of “returning” but it was back to the state of my unreal life.
Similar experience. As a child, I would ask myself where did God come from. And if he didn't exist, I would not exist. And that there had to be a beginning to his beginning. Then a feeling of nothingness would come over me all of a sudden. I started feeling as if nothing was real and it would scare the crap out of me. I remember one time freaking out and crying. I haven't had that feeling in a long time.

I used to have this dream, over and over, where I would just start flying, and couldn't stop, until I was in space, over looking earth, still going out further and everything becoming like a screen static slowly.
This dream happened for at least a year, most nights.
The thing is: none of us can bypass their interpretation of things, the meaning we give to them and our limited perception. This, mixed up with imagination, biases and judgements, personal stories, beliefs, and character...makes everything a simulation for us anyhow. Our perception of reality never is reality. It's our own illusion.
You are right, there is no infinite number of emotions that we can feel, I see this in psychology a lot, there are 27 emotions that humans can experience so the random numbers generated in the simulation of behaviour is limited to. You can view this as a simulation or just that the base reality is like that naturally without simulations. Or could everything be already defined by the simulation?

I recalled walking back from the gym in 2013, June 8th Saturday around 11:15am. A tall old guy with dirty jeans and a black leather jacket walked right past me, to a pub that was behind me. As I neared my apartment, the same guy crosses the road in front of me and heads into the bar near my flat. He passes me within 3ft close enough for me to confirm he even smelled like the other version. There is NO way on earth he could have got there, in that time from the direction he was coming from, no way on earth. I feel like it’s easy for someone like Elon Musk to believe life is a simulation, because his life is so incredible. For a guy who works in an office and likes to go fishing and looking for gold in my spare time, life feels so extremely pure and real. Especially when I don’t catch a fish and I don’t find any gold, the real-ness is exaggerated. It just is what it is.

I felt this way even before 2020 but I agree both this year and last year seems unreal at times. It's almost like the caring and love is completely sucked out of the earth itself, or something I can't explain it

Ive always looked around and thought "this cannot be real" as it just seems like we are playing the sims. Ppl on auto pilot. You do the same mindless routines over and over, then one day it hits you...why? What is the purpose of this? Ive called this year the reality tv series finale. Feeling like ppl are pushing buttons and you have no control of the outcome, No getting ahead, no happiness.....just emptiness of wtf did we just go through. Its like a fog and you come out of the other end in confusion and questioning everything. Are we in the matrix? Are our memories and lives being altered for personal gain by unknown ppl or forces? Who knows?! Funny thing is thoough, we do see glitches here and there and we just call it irony...but is it? Kinda thinking about it....we were all played this year. Take that as however you interpret it. Be safe
