- Up for sale in our Fort Lauderdale Showroom is a desirable 1974 Plymouth Satellite Tribute Road Runner. The Road Runner was a performance based car produced by Plymouth from 1968 to 1980. Its initial concept was to take the muscle car back to its basic form, a cheap car with a big motor and a quarter mile time under seconds. Which by the way the Road Runner came through on all accounts. Consequently the Road Runner outsold the heavily optioned, more expensive GTX , the back to basics idea worked. Plymouth did pay Warner Bros. $50,000 for permission to use the name and likeness of their popular cartoon character Road Runner, and even shelled out $10,000 to develop the "beep beep" horn. One walk around this Road Runner and you will quickly appreciate the condition and the care that went into this 1974 Road Runner classic muscle car. This '74 Plymouth Satellite tribute Road Runner has a very good Plum Crazy Purple paint job to catch the onlookers eyes. A new body style arrived with the 1971-74 model. The new design showed more curves and it looked a bit more like the ‘Cudas and Challengers. The start of 1971 was considered the beginning of the end for muscle cars. Stricter emission standards were already starting to take effect. And as the years went on it only became worse. This 1974 Plymouth has a strong 340 engine that came in Roadrunner those years. Backed behind that 340 engine is a 3 speed automatic transmission moving you around the street. When you have the sun gleaming off of the smooth, clean Plum Crazy Purple and your are cruising there comes a time to stop and that is no problem on this Plymouth. Because this Roadrunner tribute has 4 wheel slotted disc brake, stopping will not be a problem. Almost bought this as my 1st car back in 83. This example is beautiful.
I've owned three of these in my 63 years on this planet, and I've never been a big fan of clones. But I do like this plum crazy Satty/RR clone. I don't like that the bumper guards are missing, and for the life of me I can't figure out why so many people customized the Sattys and add that damn rear deck spoiler. Head scratcher on that add on. We never had them on back in the seventies, but now...it seems like every backyard mechanic is installing the ugly things. I'm not a big fan of the head lamp bezels....why not the original chrome? And the 74 RR's had a solid stripe over the roof, not the roof over strobe like they did in 73. And the 340 engine was gone by 74. So, as a clone, it's got a lot of positives, but it's got a lot of negatives.

Wow Very Awesomeness Plymouth Roadrunner it look like a same Plymouth Roadrunner for the first time in my past So I'm just gonna go to get unit get enough money to buy it so that way i can drive when someone learned me to drive the cars and also nice colors i 💘 it. And I like it

Wow, all that trouble to dress up a good looking ride, and the stripe over top the roof is wrong. Whassup with that? Couldn't find the right strobe stripe?

74 RR didn't have the roof over strobe. Solid stripe like this one has. What I have an issue with is it isn't a color offered in 74 or 73...no Plum Crazy then.
And this is a Satty. They didn't come with the stripe package. I've owned three of these in my 63 years on this planet, the first when I was 18 back in the seventies. This is a CLONE! Big no go with older Mopar enthusiasts.
And the 340 wasn't an option in 74.

Correct "standing bird" on the tail panel, but no "road runner" emblem beneath it, hmm, too cheap to buy it? Also, trunk and engine compartment should be body color, not black! This isn't a Chevy/GM! Also, incorrect upper door panels (no chrome trim or pleats), incorrect rear seat cover, and, if it's a Road Runner and not "just" a Satellite, incorrect steering wheel. Also, unless it's a California car (which had turned down exhaust tips), you should be pimping the "bazooka" tips... Also, what's up with front government-mandated 5 mph bumpers, but on the rear, they're missing. Either put them on or not... So yeah... Nice try, but good looking car nonetheless... (Yes, Mopar guys are psycho.)

It looks better with the hood, trunk lid, and doors closed. The bumpers and headlight housings painted black. Darker color purple paint. A factory gull wing rear spoiler. The back end lifted a bit and 15"or 16" rims w/ larger tires 225/70 in the front and 245/60 in the back- BF Goodrich Radial T/A. Also no elevator music.
That car is so fake.
