They were actually ALL automatics. Pontiac never actually built this car (455-4 speed) from the factory. You could get the 400 with a 4 speed, but the 455 was only offered with an automatic. They really are underappreciated cars. Besides the lower horsepower (which is easily rectified with a few mods) these were really much better driving cars all around than their predecessors. Really beautiful car, thanks for sharing.
This was a 400 car, the 455 was swapped in later. Thanks for checking it out!
The guy said that the car came with a 400 and the 455 was swapped in.
Yeah 400 4gear was it ,,455 we're all autos!!!
@@RamblinAroundYou said it on the video. Yet he chose to be a smart a$$ and post that comment to let us know that he’s a total muppet 😂
I have a 1973 grand am with 455/4speed car. . It's not an automatic
Nice look. Pontiac. Had. Cool rides. Thanks
Thanks for having a look!
Many many years ago I had a crush on one of my teachers she drove a dark green version of one of these. Thanks for the memories Ms. Alvey.
The 73 Grand Am is a forgotten classic. It was the first US car that prioritized handling. My dad had the 4-door version, black on black, with the 455. He "desmogged" it as soon as the 12-month warranty expired and made a slew of mods over the years. It was a badass sleeper, and all my friends called it "The Roach." Unfortunately, I squished The Roach in 1989 in the worst accident of my lifetime. I was lucky to walk away. I still have the 455 but will always miss The Roach!
Thanks for posting Jeff. This is one of my favorite '70s cars. I just really like how they look. Thanks again for posting Jeff!
Glad you like it, thanks for watching!
I had a 73 Lemans Sport Coupe. In that year the Colonnade body had the best trunk line GM ever made - sleek and fast. In 74 they uglied it up with the mandated 5mph bumpers.
I agree, the styling went downhill in the following years.
73 has 5mph bumpers too...they must weigh 200lbs each!
No, Pontiac met the mandate by adding vertical "push bar" style extensions on the large chrome bumpers, completely spoiling the smooth lines of the 1973 design.

That's a slick unit Jeff.
I really like this one Zig. Thanks for checking it out!
Sad I missed this car when it was available. I had a blue one when I was 19. Mine was the 400 4-barrel and the 4-speed, with a plain hood.
Nice ! Thanks -
Thanks for watching!
Very cool ride! I like these muscle cars you don't see very often. ❤
Thanks for taking a look my friend!
Killer car! So unique...and with that "radial tuned" suspension...ready to carve corners (😂)
love these cars- cam and gear swap -a real fun affodable family ride! not many left. thanks for showing it.
Thanks for taking a look!
That's a beautiful car
Glad you like it, thanks for taking a look!
Absolutely love that car!!!!
Me too Doug, thanks for checking it out!
thank you for the video!- I took the side moldings off mine and you can really see the body lines so much better. Hood Tach also looks sporty on this model. Seeing more and more of these wonderful cars on the road lately in my area.
I'll bet it does look good with the moldings removed. I've done that on a couple of cars in the past too. Thanks for checking it out!
That is a cool car.😊😊
Thanks for checking it out!
I had a 73 Pontiac Grand Am mine was an automatic😊 I was just talking about it the other day this is crazy how you guys are showing a video of the same car I used to have great thank you❤
Definitely want a big Aluminum Radiator and High CFM Fans on a Big Pontiac motor if you plan to drive it allot in hot weather,
And a Hi Torque Starter.
Nice car had about 3 dozen myself still got my original one in the picture you see gotta love it 43 years later
Hi Jeff,
Love this era in these cars they just look different and have their style .
Glad you like it Michael, I like this one a lot too!
@@RamblinAround thanks for sharing my friend.
My older brother bought one new in '73. His was dark brown, w/a lighter brown vinyl 1/4 top (?) Not too sure, this was in '73 and I was 4..but I remember him bringing it home, and the family ohhing and so forth over it! 😂
Very rare car 😊
I actually bought a 73 GA at end of 72. A friend insisted I go look at it at the pontiac dealer.
400 ci with a two barrel carb and an automatic.
It was eggshell white with a red interior.
I got talked into trading off my 69 mustang Mach1 428cj which I had just rebuilt the motor on.
I was moving up the corporate lader so thought it was more fitting.
How easily we are fooled.
Everyone I knew loved the car. Me, not so much.
I still to this day suspect my friend had ordered it then tryed to back out of the deal. Funny thing is, I cannot remember who it was.
I actually think the GP was a much better looking car.
Amazing car in a phenomenal color for this car. One of the few cars that looks great in both the 2 and 4 door models. Pontiac made a Honey Comb wheel which looked fantastic on these beauties.
Oh boy what a beautiful car I had one same color mine had a Pontiac 400 God I miss that..
Wow, the front looks awsome 'like a spaceship, colour gourgeus, motor powerfull and big a real 🏩 hotie, thanks jeff and Jordan for this video i enjoy every moment from tom your friend now and always say hello to the rest of the gang 😊♥️ 😊😊 gang
Glad you like it Tom, thanks for watching my friend!
@4:00 It's a 5 door! Wow! You don't see many of those! lol
Really nice 👌
Thanks for taking a look Dale!
Your subscription holder base is huge now. Glad to be old and remember when you were a small channel. Always liked watching what you have found next. Good morning to you all and thanks for sharing this with us. Most were automatic cars people were losing interest in them and cheaper with a auto in it
If I hit the lottery I'm definitely buying it lol😮
That's a super cool Pontiac. Getting bored looking at GTO's and Firebird's all the time
Nice bit of a sleeper. Very rare. Bold asking price 😯
I had a 73 lemans wish I still had it
Nice car. I have 73 GA with 455 myself, originally black with saddle tan interior. Power everything. FYI, I believe the name of the color on yours is Florentine Red for 1973. There was no Honduras Red. There was a Honduras maroon, but according to my 73 Pontiac dealer brochure, and PPG paint code book, it wasn't offered in 73. The PPG paint book shows Honduras Maroon was a 74 and 75 color. Of course, the paint code on your Fisher body tag on the cowl would tell what the original color is for sure.
My Friends and I used to think they were butt ugly, but time does change everything. 😅
I never knew about a model with 4-speeds. I had 2 of these cars with 400s. Neither had this GTO scoop hood.
This was Pontiacs way of staying with chevelle for 73 laguna I had one .
6.5 L is the 400 cid engine. My '73 Grand Am had the 455 and a 7.4 L logo.
Yes, this had a 455 swapped into it.
These cars were really fast and very hot back in the day because they were coming after the 1970 models that had the much higher horsepower but these cars here were actually hot because my friend had one and I got to drive it all the time and it was very fast not as fast as the 60 models a 1970 models but they were fast and they were pretty cool
I do have a factory 455/4sp car loaded all original. How do you know if its not original. Looks pretty original to me
Do you still have the original 400?
Price?
How much??
PS the storm Was the worst, in 114 years, devastating
Did you get much damage at your home?
No we did not but My Sister Tannies took some and the marina and the boats were damaged a lot
@@tombankwel4822 Just glad you're all ok. Sorry to hear your sister's place was damaged. Guess it was because she's so much closer to the water.
@@RamblinAround thanks jeff for your feedback always apriciated, i AM going to visit My Sister later today and help her
I AM back from My Sister Tannie place, holy Moses, there is nothing left in the harbpur All the boats Are destroyed, Even the iconic harboour office, is, and it is a 100 years old, My Sister Tannie house is okay just some small repair and it Will be okay 👌 🤩 😍 😊 🤟, but I have never seen so much damage before, thanks jeff and Jordan 😊 😊 😊 😊 😊 you Are the Best People i know from tom your friend now and always 🤩 🤩 USA 😎 ☀️ 💎 😎
This is a 400, it says right in the trunk lid 6.5 L!
It's not original. The 455 was swapped into it.
