Position of Neutrality: Embracing Step 3 - The Decision to Surrender in Recovery

Welcome to Step 3 of our journey through Alcoholics Anonymous. In this lesson, we revisit the foundational insights gained from the first two steps and prepare to make the transformative third step decision. Step 1 taught us about our powerlessness over alcohol and the unmanageability of our lives, setting the stage for the acceptance necessary in recovery. In Step 2, we recognized a power greater than ourselves, capable of restoring us to sanity. Now, as we transition to Step 3, we face the decision to surrender our will and our lives to the care of this higher power. This step is about deepening our trust and connection with a power beyond our understanding, an essential move for lasting change. Throughout this session, we’ll discuss what it means to truly make a decision, how to rely on a higher power, and the impact this can have on our lives. We invite you to approach this lesson with openness, reflecting on your own journey, the challenges you’ve overcome, and the transformative possibilities that await. Remember, this step is not just a formality-it’s a pivotal moment of commitment to a new way of life guided by spiritual principles.
