    He has a time limit for how long it takes her to do things. As a caregiver, I take as long as it takes. Pushing her on a time 😊constraint makes her stubborn. I learned repeating tostep up or over just took longer and frustrated me.

    Sensory toys, fidgets, things that are durable and won’t brake easily or pose as a choking hazard (especially when Amber state people explore with their mouths) would be great to keep around the place.

    Let them become comfortable. There will be something or someone that they like and will do busywork

    Teepa, I’ve ordered your book but is there a specific video where you might talk about what to do when they are confused about who THEY are? Mine Keeps saying things like “who is Me?” Or “This is not me!” How do you reorient them when they are confused and agitated to this extent? We do tell her who she is but she no longer knows who we are, and when we tell her, she is very suspicious and doesn’t believe us. She literally thought I put photos of strangers around to convince her we were family. “I don’t know what you are trying to pull here” she said this week.. Thankfully she will be at a memory care center by the end of this coming week. This is such a cruel disease the way it takes all individuality away from somebody. I hope your book and vids will help me understand her better and how to communicate more effectively with her. I’m finding it very difficult and I was a nurse and have SOME training in therapeutic communication but I forget everything I’ve ever learned when we are together. I’m so used to the way we used to communicate, for decades.

      Hi, @selecttravelvacations7472. It sounds like you are dealing with quite the situation right now. I hope that the move to a memory care center is going well. This podcast (th-cam.com/video/DPPvzZa--ss/w-d-xo.html) may help a little and I'm wondering if you want to connect with a consultant to explore things a bit more. Please email consult@teepasnow.com to get a session.

      I'm having the same situation. And by time I get there the husband has already yell at her for peeing on the floor refuses to wait a brief , he is no help at all😢

    • @teepasnowvideos
      @teepasnowvideos  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Sorry that's happening, @elizabethhope1179. I'm wondering if her husband is having trouble dealing with the grief and/or the changes that he's seeing and that's why he's not helping. Do you think he would be open to connecting with someone to talk about things? If so, contact us at consult@teepasnow.com for a free 30-minute session.

    Shutting off the shower. Only in the summer. Get a handheld.
    I have a similar situation with stepping over the tub.
    Trying to get a walk-in shower for her. They can afford it.
