    Beautiful! Beautiful! Looks amazing. Nothing wrong with that lather for a 100% Shea, straight out of the mould (presumably?), or otherwise. Who needs moisturiser; - with such a luscious, nurturing soap. Brava, Holly❣️ Simple elegance

    These are pure looking bars I love the stamp! 😍
    I have been using 100% shea butter soap on my face for a few years and I no longer have to switch to a gentle detergent facial cleanser during the winter for dry super flaky skin!

    I'll have to give this a try! I have about 15 pounds of shea in my soap stash! I usually only use 15-20% in my luxury bars but this may take over my lard and olive oil soaps for my kids delicate skin!

    I have purchased a beautiful shea butter and lavender soap at the Temecula Lavender Company. Their label reads: pure glycerine soap, shea butter, lavender. Are they adding glycerine to increase lather? As I want to make my own shea butter soap, I'm grateful for this video, Holly. It is very helpful and as beautiful as your soap is!

    • @ElizabethGonzalez-jt7ns
      @ElizabethGonzalez-jt7ns 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that glycerin does contribute to lather because it’s sweet. Sugar increases bubbles. It also softens a base and makes a soap glide in the hands. If you try the Shea butter soap with glycerin, please let us know how it turned out. :)

    • @soniagaynor1001
      @soniagaynor1001 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You don't need glycerin as the coconut oil produces the bubbles, you can also use Babassu oil it works the same way as coconut oil in producing bubbles and cleaning

      In my regular soaps where I use no more than 15 to 20% shea butter, I never notice the scent (always gone after the soap cures 4 weeks). However, with this 100% shea soap, even after 6 months I could still pick up the scent of the shea butter. I recently made a new soap using 60% shea butter. It's been curing for 2 months, and the shea butter scent is still very strong.

    I understood cold process soap took weeks to harden. You say it was the same after a day as after four weeks, in a good way or bad? Slicing that block looked so satisfying!

    • @hollysoapmaking
      @hollysoapmaking  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lather was the same...very little lather. Some viewers wondered if the lather might improve with time (as the water evaporated from the bars), so I kept checking and it never did. I really liked the soap, but for people who want lather, this probably isn’t for them. Thanks for watching!

    I think this would be a great bar of soap if it was 50% coconut oil and 50% Shea butter. Nice lather and a smooth silky feel - cleansing and conditioning as long as you kept the super fat low (4-5% should be good enough).

      Lye is just the natural chemical You need to turn your oils into soap is the natural chemical reaction created by natural rain Ash and wood . It is how your fat and oils become soap naturally soap can't be created without it.
