This soap was really hard the next day. I kind of expected that, but I’m glad I didn’t wait to cut the soap. I had my wire cutter really tight and you can see in the video how much it bends. I’ve been using this soap and really like it, but, as I said in the video, the 60% shea butter is still my favorite. ☺ Thanks so much for watching! -Holly :)
Thank you from Québec, Canada, a french speaking province ! So inspiring! What i like most is that you analyse and say what is your preference. I learn a lot from you!
Very nice Holly. I make a version of shea butter in the winter for friends and family. What's funny is I make it for the women, but the husbands and sons end up liking and using it the most. Merry Christmas
This was my first soap, after watching several safety videos prior & much reading up. I made it in the evening when my kids went to bed and cut it in the late morning after rush. It hardened very fast. Mine traced much faster than yours seemed to. Cutting was a little harder than I anticipated, so I see why people don’t use regular knives! I had some breakage and cracking along the edges, during cutting. Good amount of lather & suds. Feel clean after using. Would prefer it to be more moisturizing, which is what I’m really looking for in a soap. It’s not as moisturizing as I thought so much cocoa butter would be. This has me thinking 60 shea next.
Thank you so much Holly for sharing such beautiful video, I have learned so much from you and keep on learning. Thank you for your generosity, Merry Christmas.
Love your videos, I was looking to do a high percentage cocoa butter soap, since I love the smell of unrefined cocoa butter, but I was concerned about it overheating and cracking. I think I will try your Shea butter recipe instead, thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Holly, if I wanted to add an essential oil for fragrance, how much should I add? This will be my first soap making recipe I make and I'm super excited, I love cocoa butter! Thanks so much for creating this vid for us newbies.
Thank you for this video 😊 how soon after making your soap was you able to use it? How long do you wate for total Saponification? Thank you for sharing your info 😁
I'm from Quebec and I really like your videos that you make, they are well detailed and you are my soap maker idol:) I will check your soap with shea on your site, I would like to make some, Thank you:)
Hi Holly! I love this soap, I think I'll try it, thank you for sharing and as always I love your videos 🥰. I might just try the shea butter one too to see which one I like better 😉.
I am a new subscriber and new to soap making. I love your soap making explanations and recipes and especially your calm way of presenting the information to your viewers. I apologize if you've already answered my question. I see that you use varies temperature for you oils & lye in soaping. Should your oil temperature be at 85F and lye water at 93? Or does it depend on the recipe? I was trying to locate a beginning soap make video by you but couldn't locate it. Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to make the Calendula Soap recipe!!!
So luxurious and inspiring as usual !thank you so much for sharing your knowledge il learned i lot from you .i have a question :why you always choose 5% superfat in your recepies??
Your videos are so helpful! I'm learning so much. For the oven/hardening phase, do you leave the soap in the oven after turning off the oven light? How many hours do you wait before cutting the soap? Thank you so much :)
I've recently become obsessed with soap making and this is one of the best videos I've seen. Beautifully filmed and very clearly presented, I love what you've done. Where did you get the mould and cutter?
When can I start rapping and packaging the soap ? Is it after a month and a half or two days? I mean should I let it dry on the shelf until it's ready to be used ?
Hi Holly, love your videos! I read, that a higher percentage of cocoa butter in a recipe can make the soap feel drying when used. Not sure if you like to share how the soap you made felt when you tried it? If yes, I'd love to read about that. Greetings from Berlin.
I don't think so, the coconut oil is the one that dries (a lot) the skin. It is not moisturizing or emollient at all, so you have to use no more than15% of coconut oil in a recipe. On the other side, cocoa butter has no cleansing properties and its creamy, conditioning and gives long life shelf to the soap.
I wonder if doing this recipe without coconut oil, and replace with more castor oil and olive oil or avocado oil will make it less difficult to cut into?
I’m probably stating the obvious, but I just wanted to check. Is the reason for adding the lye to the water instead of the other way round, to avoid possible movement or splashing of the lye? I’ve heard to add the lye to the water so many times, but I have never heard why we do this. I’ve always just assumed the reason why. ❤ Love this soap, just beautiful thank you for sharing your process. 🙂🐿❤️🌈
I wonder if this lady sells her soap? I would love to buy the 60% cocoa butter soap. I didn't see any links that went to a store. She is amazing and I loved watching her make this! This soap looked delicious too! LOL I can't even imagine how incredible, at 60% CB, this smelled. I wish I could buy some from her. I'm definitely not smart enough to make this stuff! Thumbs up!! @@pinupdoll97 Hi! Please do share that info. with me. I would LOVE to check out your shop. I am fixated on Tone soap, which is no longer made. Hi, I always thought that it shouldn’t be more then 15% of cocoa butter in the soap, otherwise it will crack. Did you notice something like this? Thank you so much for your amazing inspirational video!
Sometimes people give these types of guidelines but it’s always good to test for yourself. I’ve seen recipes with more than 20% up to 30%. You also have to consider the other oils that add to the recipe and would combat this, balancing things out.

In order for it to harden, do the soap need to rest for 5weeks or overnight. How much lye an oil do I need for this recipe
Hi Holly! What quality does the shea butter soap have that makes you prefer it over the cocoa butter one? Other than cost??

Dear Holly I've been watching your videos for quite some time. Can you please make a soap using GHEE? im working on a recipe but need your help. ☺️
