I recommend you to read, "Use Less God
" by Avit Bansal and "The Future of an Illusion" by Freud in case if you haven't read them. Freud's book explores the notion of god from a psychoanalytical perspective, while Bansal's book is quite basic from an evolutionary perspective. I am sure both the theories could be applied to Godmen as well. Bansal's book might appear militant but it does not have a problem with the concept of 'agree to disagree'.

Dale Carnegie, in the book "How to Win friends & Influence Others" discuss some of the techniques. If we see other Spiritual Gurus like Osho, Sadhguru & Assaanji, they have mastered these techniques.....
In my opinion, we can just listen to their thoughts/opinion/concepts and put into practice if it's necessary and beneficial to us. Other than that, glorifying them as they are the Messenger of God, is a blind move.
