I liked Mark's interview and there's more, that's so great, thank you! Does anyone know what tape to use with guitars (Lee said, they use gaffer tape)? I suppose every tape can ruing the finish in the long run?
@@_Information_ Thank you for your answer. I am experimenting a bit with one of my guitars and I thought about unloosening the wire of the piezo pickup, that I put there and would also benefit if I found a tape.
I was at a show in Boston where Lee's pink tele got smashed by a member of . The neck got thrown into the crowd, and a girl in front of me picked it up and claimed it. Lee actually waved me down from the front and motioned for me to get the neck from the girl, but when I said to her that he was looking for it she sorta ducked away, and eventually Lee just waved it off with like a "fuck it" vibe.
I was wondering if he was going to mention that! Was also at that show and saw the theft. Looked like the bassist from the opener got a bit overexcited during that finale. Iirc she threw the body as well but Lee went after it
@@rubbadubdub6543 I don't know if cramster was joking or not but I wasn't. Straplocks break easily, especially if your guitar regularly takes beatings live and the holes in the guitar body they go into have widened over time. Tape needs to be reapplied every once and a while but it's so much more consistent and trustworthy than straplocks imo
I think that he only uses the bridge, which I also use 90% of the time. The less wiring and knobs, the better the bridge sounds.I used to wire the pickup straight to the jack.
Thank God Hendrix didn’t tapet or remove parry’s of his guitars. Although he played them backwards still didn’t had all these people problems. It’s amazing how a knob a meter away makes this people not being able to perform!! Oh no I’ve changed the pickup by mistake 😱😱😱 I can’t continue the concert!!! A bunch of spoiled 👧👧
@@necroriffmonger Yep, don't criticize the Idles guitarists. Idles fans don't like opinions and critiques of Mark or Lee. Must not have an opinion online. The good thing about larger ensembles is that you can have an element that concentrates on a single lane.Think of The Fall's larger line ups, or even QOTSA, with TVL, Josh, and Dean Ferrita all working guitar/keys/ slide. The biggest single problem with guitarists is playing when you're not serving the song.
What he does is sick and absolutely essential to the overall sonic palette of IDLES. I'd listen to the noises he makes over some blues dad trying to be SRV any day.
Was in the same class as him at uni. Top c**t he was. Love him. good on him and his band ❤️
Please tell us more… any fun stories? What did you guys study ?
@@pattonPwr We went to The University of the West of England. The rest is for me to know ;)
Haha! Me too. Guess I will just have to wonder who you are.... really is great and continually surreal to see how well they're doing.

I know it’s probably unintentional but parts of this could be outtakes from This is Spinal Tap!
I thought the same. Good acting!
You can tap for days!
the problem with straplocks is they dampen your punk asfetiks
I'm not good at strumming 🤨 so we had to remove all the switches I'd knock over
Where is the Amp to 11?
So cool to see Josh and the guitar he made for Lee on this video. Absolutely fabulous guy. 😊
Great to see Josh from West valley guitars 😀
Love these guys
Loved your show in Milwaukee !!
Fuck the boomer comments on this and marks video are fucking hilarious. Keep playing hard big dawgs, just keep doing you.
I love the suit-jacket-sleeves-rolled-up-strat-blues-musos in the comments freaking out.
Mark Knopfler is rad. Can't be mad at the Dire Straits love

I love Mark & Lee, but this trend to have some gaffer tape on your strap is ridiculous.
@@Fl0d3r Well, they're not the only ones. Also, I am certain that it is not just for aesthetic purposes!
If you want to permanently attach the strap, tape is not the way to go.

What on earth is going on with those strap 'locks'. What a state to be in.
who needs strap locks when you've got tape!
It’s more ‘punk’ to use tape - having said that, tape stops your strap from twisting, something like schaller or dunlop straplocks doesn’t.

You should get your mint telecaster routed out for 1 or 2 more pickups so you can keep the sound you want but add more range
That would change the sound he wants.
