Joy As An Act Of Resistance Tour 2018 Venue: Lee’s Palace Produced by Sarah Morrison Directed by Geoff Taylor Camera Op (1): Geoff Taylor Camera Op (2): Christian Nikodemus
Hello everyone! we're glad you enjoyed this interview as much as we did. Just stopping by to say that Issue One of Groovy Tunes Magazine is here! Visit bit.ly/2HnWexH to pick up a copy and help support the channel!
'Joy' is a way of life. No exaggeration when I say I listen to it 4 or 5 times a week for the past 2 months. It helps me feel better, happier, less alone. Thank you, Idles.
He comes across as incredibly vulnerable, someone that wears his heart on his sleeve. Seems like a genuine, caring human being. My whole family watched the Glastonbury set in awe and fell in love with the band, sensibilities and politics on point, they can play, they're piss funny.
You're a poor judge of character then. One can immediately see this guy's a smug narcissist; the way he indulges in every word he utters, the slow aloof way he talks because he's so absorbed in himself, his fake virtue signaling and moral judgements of social issues(of which he has a childlike understanding of) that he only cares about because he thinks doing so makes him a good person, etc. If you don't believe/agree with me, then consider this: Why did he bring up the fact that the city of Bristol (or rather the elite mercantile class of Bristol during a certain period) was involved in the slave trade? How is that tidbit of information really relevant or worth noting in that conversation he was having? It wasn't. He brought it up as a form of randomly thrown in (and very pointless) righteous indignation. Think on that for a minute. For me, a good way I like to use to spot a narcissist is that when they talk about themselves, you'll never see them crack a smile, and it's because, I think, they're unable to laugh at themselves or engage in self deprecation because they take themselves so seriously. Guy's a narcissistic prick, and I for one think he can go fuck off.
Because of this Interview I bought and read The Descent Of Man. And I am really glad I did. Thanks for the recommendation! I can only encourage everyone despite of gender or political view to read the book. It really broadens ones mind.
One of the best bands today and so underappreciated. Listen to them when I workout and just blast it in the bedroom whenever I'm at home. I'm 19 and I'm so happy this band exists
These guys are my new favourite band, every word of every song is something I relate to in terms I understand. Bristol is the only place in UK to live also :)
I’ve never been to Bristol but I did make friends with a local Bristol couple whilst I was on holiday once, lovely couple and they spoke of the place just how he described it here, it’s a place on the map nobody talks about unless you are from there or ever been there. Thanks for this interview it was interesting and this guy has clearly lived a life not to different from a lot of people out there, it’s always great when a band have passion and a story to tell behind their music. Good luck for the future lads.
The best city I have lived in. Sometimes asked myself why did I leave. Saw the birth of kosheen whilst I was there. Saw Tons Of Sound Systems Entertaining Ravers. Saw diversity in action. Had one of the best periods of me loif evvah.!
Honestly, if your looking for a weekend away for a bit of culture, history and a bloody great night out with just about every type of music there is, get your ass to Bristol.
London has suffered by the hands of Boris and the Tories there are only a few of us original londoners left trying to be creative & authentic, there are some roots londoners still here fighting off the rich arrogant tossers taking over.
Hello, everyone! English is my second language and it's been impossible for me to figure out the name of the book he mentions when asked about toxic masculinity. Could anyone help me with the reference, please? The rest of the interview I got it pretty well 😂
Idles is not just a band. They’re wizards, it’s a spell band. they cast spells to the audience through the music. There’s clearly a draw to this band that is uncontrollable once you let the sounds pour into your ears.
After going to see them for the first time live , this is the best explanation ever . I can’t remember much of it apart from being sucked into the heart of it and it being completely wild 🤣
Can someone tell me better what's the name and the author of the book he is talking about when he starts speaking about toxic masculinity, please? Thank you very much! :)
@Big Rock ah what?! he doesn´t?! Does this mean Bob Marley didnt shoot the sheriff?! Lemmy wasn´t really the sword OR the game?! Pipe down you f*cking melt,, crawl back under your ´big rock´

"There's a hunger for honesty and a bit of violence, but with love behind it" So well put, so true.
Exactly!!! Perfectly expressed ☺️🙌
The way he nonchalantly mentions his daughter died is heartbreaking
Yea, poor bloke
Man, yeah this broke me
Their new album is the best record of the year, easily
You've listened to every release this year?
PIG CHAMP yes, all of them
Champ? of all pigs? ALL of them? Doubt it
@@rpoll613 he's a guitarist thicko, look it up
Nah... polyphia, handsome jack, or daughters
Great band, better album, even better show, and the best and most honest frontman you could ask for. Everything about Idles is top tier.
So true!!! Couldn't agree more 😊🙌❤❤
His description of Bristol is pretty beautiful
Pretty accurate too. Lived there for 12 years :)

A conversation between Joe and Russel Brand would be a most enjoyable and fruitful thing.
