    The hip penetration on this throw reminds me more of ogoshi than uchimata. It's almost like why even bother with the leg kick at that point when they're completely loaded up like that. I do really the emphasis on the pace change and the underhook punch though. Bc I almost only see no-gi uchimata done with an overhook (and I personally prefer having an underhook in general).

    • @MrMelon247
      @MrMelon247 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The leg swing is not meant to do anything aside from allowing you to bow faster and deeper.
      Over penetration on the hip is will allow you to still hit this when your opponent attempts to circle out.

    Cool throw. To me it looks more like a Harai-goshi variation rather than an uchi mata.

    • @jleano609
      @jleano609 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@sambofusion9486 nope, it's a fairly standard uchi-mata, just no gi. In Harai-Goshi the sweeping leg sweeps to the outside of uke's far leg. In Hane-Goshi it braces across the far leg. He swept the inner thigh - translation uchi-mata.

    • @Buri8128

    • @KBelluser
      @KBelluser 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@darrenjones7022 I also reckon it looks closer to Hane Goshi. Uchi-Mata is typically done on the inside leg. His leg is bent and braces against the opponents other leg and although his leg sweeps thru a bit like Uchi at the end there is the initial spring hip action of Hane Goshi

    • @darrenjones7022

    • @ryanwilliams9984
      @ryanwilliams9984 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      You're correct. Uchi mata is considered ashiwaza. This is more hane goshi. I don't think anyone makes the distinction anymore other than calling them hip or leg style uchi mata.

    Bone fides first--judo sankyu. You're mixing the "full" hip position from ogoshi with leg action form hane goshi. The hip placement for harai goshi, uchi mata, and hane goshi is the same as uki goshi. It's more of a "half" hip position where the uke is on your side vs. back. The other throws are uki goshi derivatives that came about to counter someone jumping around uki goshi and collect them back up into the throw. The half hip position results in a that is easier to enter than ogoshi, and tends to be faster.

      It all depends in his grappling style if you’re a slick and smooth guy that moves allot a smaller frame probably is better. If youre a slower but heavy pressure guy having taht muscle really won’t take anything away from you’re game. Plus liek teh other guy said he might be a wrestler too and having a slim or small frame for wrestling isn’t ideal
