The following presentation is about a severely disturbed French priest who committed such a vile double murder in the 1950s, that is shocked all of France to the core.
In July 1950 he was appointed parish priest of Uruffe, a village of 392 souls.
An active priest in the community and very much appreciated by his parishioners.
My dear friends little did the good people of the village of Uruffe know, is that Father Desnoyers’ fleshy temple had been taken over by a Demon;
who became increasingly stronger in his dominance and influenced Father Desnoyers’ thoughts and actions…the outcome would be tragic.

My God is a loving God and I putting people in ovens and buggering little boys is heinous. Of course these perverts will be absolved by a similar sicko in a black dress. Confess that you are a serial killer in Confession and magically you are back in the good graces of the church; just say your Hail Marys.

It's one of the reasons I left the Catholic Church and religion all together. I just could no longer handle the hypocrisy and superiority complex.
Oh yeah, I believe that. I have yet to see the church proactively go out and deliberately rid themselves of the known criminals in their ranks.
I have seen them hide and lie for them plenty of times, though, lying by omission about abusive priests, moving them from one location to another where they simply prey on new innocent families. Of course, this man is an exception and not the unfortunately common child molesting kind of victimizer I’m talking about. This guy was another kind of monster.
That poor girl, Regine-what a shame and waste of life. Like any victim of violent crime , she deserved so much better. She and their child deserved the chance to live out their lives together and he ended that for his own selfish reasons. He murdered because he *didn’t want to look bad. *
I will never understand that mindset and that emotional logic, ever.
Pedos are a protected class. In Hollywood, politics, and other large communities. It seems like the catholic oriests are the worst, but they are the easiest to vilify. (Lapsed catholic here. Not excusing just adding my 2 cents.)
Stories like this always make my heart hurt. To see anyone in a position of authority misusing it for really messed up reasons makes it so hard to trust people in almost any capacity.
Having affairs is a pretty good indication he's not meant for Priesthood. Lying constantly is another sign.
I don't know about that, given the history of the Catholic Church, I'd say he was a poster boy for that vile organization.
Also add murder to his resume, what a vile evil person.

So many did NOT have the vocation, it was Forced upon them , imagine living a lie all your life !
The Catholic organization should not forbid men to marry. This should be a personal choice and not forced on anyone. Throw out celibacy, allow marriage. Not everyone can live a celibate life. The priests would be less corrupt.
It is important to note that The Catholic Church does not have a manopoly on such scandals.
It’s so sad that she was abused by the priest during her lifetime and then by the church after her death. The poor child and her family lost their dignity with having her truth denied and removed from the headstone.
I would keep going back and writing in what was taken out. I would use a black permanent market. And every time they erased it, I would be back writing it in again.

This story is horrific and somehow made even worse that the Church successfully were able to deny the murder victim the right to make the circumstances of her death and that of her baby publicly known on her gravestone.
I would keep writing in what they had taken out.
His interest in women should have been the one and only warning this vocation was not something he should have been forced into. Interesting how they call it a vocation, instead of a calling. Great video as usual Oddy!

The most vile thing to me, is the church's pressure to change the epitaph. The cover up is always worse than the crime.
Hi, Oddie, there was a priest who killed a young woman in the U.S. years ago. You might like to research that. Thank you for this story.
I can't remember the name of that man but if it's the one I think it is -- he got live in prison and just recently died.
He had some big major health issues -- maybe that was a sort of punishment for doing such awful things in life? Who knows.
Would be nice if everyone could just be helpful and we could all live with peace and understanding.

This was really well presented. What a sad ending to her story though- not even a mention of the baby on their tombstone, as well as the defaced inscription. People should leave flowers and little toys to remind the church.

Desnoyers lived to be 90 yrs and catered to by the church, while everything or person he encountered he destroyed them in one way or another. You have a priest who continually gets into carnal behavior over and over, yet the clergy keeps moving him around to other parishes. There was no way he wanted or respected priesthood he should have been dismissed but went on to become a MONSTER !
What a heinous crime, and to think the perpetrator was protected by the Church and so escaped the death penalty, and even was paroled and lived to a ripe old age. So unjust!

Someone from her family should inscribe the truth on a new headstone.
My view of the catholic church is one of disdain. Not because of what the priest did but because of how the church covered up the crime by erasing the truth on the tombstone and hid the priest and protected him the rest of his miserable life. This is such a sad story. 😢
My biggest issue with the Catholic church is how no one is coming from within to remove the current pope, who favors homosexual priests, refuses to appologize for the mass murder of indigenous children, and publicly criticized the law firm representing victims of sexual abuse at the hands of Catholic priests for advertising an extended date to file suit.
Priests are supposed to be celebate for one thing, and the book of Romans is clear about homosexuality (not my view). He clearly chooses money over God with his refusal to offer an apology to the families of the murdered and discarded children. How close to evil can a man be? And the flock follows?!? SMH, really WTF Catholic folks?
It's not uncommon to hide the identity of high profile criminals in prison. It's standard practice and the church has nothing to do with it

Not only was her life and her babys life taken gruesomely, but the cc wanted to cover it up!! It’s about time they restored the original tombstone as her mother designed it, justice should prevail for them, at least in death. 😔.

I knew the story, and yet you always add some unknown facts such as the tombstone being modified... that says it all about the church.
And yes, until very late, many orphans or poor kids were just destined for the priesthood, a long tradition reminiscent of the oblates of the Middle Ages.

I've never heard of this case. I asked myself why Father Desnoyers stayed in the priesthood, but I think you're right -- he did so because it gave him a position of trust which allowed him to prey on women and satisfy his desires. As always, I enjoy how you use vintage photos, music and your narration to bring this case to life. And a pub called "The Throttled Snake" actually exists? I'd go just to say I've been there! Sounds very Harry Potterish.
