I am a teacher and I reported along with another teacher a student who repeatedly and often threaten to kill students. Nothing has been done. I resigned my position because of other reasons and things that I saw that were not in my opinion being done correctly. I’m going to work for another district who follows protocol state laws and just common sense. In my opinion my previous district is not for me the way they do things. Nothing gets done about anything

IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN THE TOUGH GETS GOING, YOU RUN?, THAT IS WHAT YOUR SAYING, A teacher is supposed to take initiative, to lead, to protect the kids in that school and if nothing gets done you go on TV and you report the danger they are in, and the people who are putting them in danger and in the same time making sure you are safe as well .

I would say that but also I wonder if parents and educators do enough to teach kids what to do when they see something isn't right. Before, it was straight to 911. It's very simple and easy and straightforward. Now, do kids know what to do? Because I saw a post where someone said kids shoulda texted the police, or they should've messaged the police on facebook. That's really weird because... the kid would have to go through all these extra steps to find out how to even do these. It's too confusing, do kids even know what to do? It should be simplified and made very clear. Even in this press meeting all the officer keeps saying is "share". What does that even mean? I took it to mean.... keep circulating a post because that's literally what the word "share" means with regard to social media. Kids need to be taught very specifically what to do. They need help. This case looks so similar to the Aiden Fucci case where none of his friends ever said anything.

    • @steveorules3972

Once again a kid has no accountability, it's the parents fault, teachers fault, music and video games fault but never the kids fault. What a complete load of crap. Do you know how many bad kids come out of good homes or good kids out of horrible homes? ..This is not a one answer fits all. These are not 9-10 years old kids where talking about these are kids who can drive cars, work part time responsibility but not be held responsible for shooting innocent people because parents are always to blame. Are you using the same logic when kids become addicted to drugs, or get pregnant early? it's the parents fault?..Wow. Is it the parents fault at times, yes but always? ridiculous. A good home doesn't always produce good results and bad homes don't always produce bad results..

I agree with this, and it's the parents that have caused this fear. Because the parents have taken all of the power away from the schools, the schools feel they can't do anything when they need to. Now the parents are screaming about why the schools don't do anything when they need to. It's a catch-22 and a cycle that needs to be broken. The schools need to have a clear line they can work with without the fear of the parents throwing fits and going against the schools. I'm not saying this just to say it either. I am a parent, and I've seen this first hand.

I know the truth hurts but good parents don't raise murderous children. Good parents don't raise kids that have anything to do with "prank" threats either. It seems that some people expect the school system to raise their children. That's what freaked out so many during the pandemic lockdown. They had to actually be parents for a while and they didn't know what to do. Plus, all of the hate and anger parents are getting wrapped up in over politics, etc. is just making it worse. Parents are the problem

You're absolute correct. Thing is, the parents can be good people, but they want put their kid's happiness above everything and don't realize that discipline is just as important. They let their kids get away with everything and even deny the truth when the kid does something truly bad. Look at all the parents of criminals that insist their kid didnt do it or doesn't deserve to be punished because they're a good boy

Social media has changed everything and society has digressed as a direct result of it. These innocent children are being indoctrinated into a system that is producing/encouraging narcissistic sociopaths.
Children are learning that if you upload countless pictures of themselves onto social media everyday that this is the key to gaining followers. That the more followers you have ultimately decides your fate of acceptance by your fellow peers. The dopamine hits that come from compliments given by a hundreds/thousands of strangers is what ultimately rules these days.
This young generation believes followers are the equivalent of genuine friends. Emoji's have replaced empathy. Morals and values have disappeared. It is more important to appear as if you are living the perfect life instead of being proud of who you are and what you believe in. Appearance is everything these days.
Photo shopping your pictures to give the illusion you look differently than you actually look is a serious problem. Social media has derailed our society and specifically this young generation. I think this is a generation where parents have lost control of their children.
I am not saying that this relieves neglectful and irresponsible parents of being the awful parents that they are, rather stating the obvious that social media has ruined and digressed the world we live in. That things are only going to get worse from this point on. That things are not as black and white as they once were. That the grey area dominates now.

The biggest problem is that parents use the school or some other kind of facility to raise their kids. As a single parent of two kids, I can understand where some of it comes from. Parents have to work to provide for their kids. That's less time with them. But, when you are letting a school or daycare raise your kids for you, you need to not ignore them when they tell you something.
Last year, parents were complaining about how hard it was to home school their kids and they were driving them nuts. Well...how do you think teachers feel about dealing with your kids all day long? Not to mention, when they come to you, as the parent, and tell you action needs to be taken because of how your kids acted; you throw a fit. "Oh, my little Timmy doesn't behave like that!" Well, now you know, little Timmy does behave like that. So, be a parent and do what needs to be done.
Parents need to be a hell of a lot more involved with their kids. Pick an activity they like doing. A great example that I use is plating online games. We pick a game, and co-op it for a few hours. While we're playing I talk to them. Ask them how they're doing. How their day went. Is there anything they want or need to do? Kids are more likely to talk when they're doing something they enjoy. You'll discover that they will even tell you things they normally wouldn't because they are not so guarded.
I am a single parent to two kids, who I have homeschooled for 4 years. I work full-time, outside of the home; and take care of my elderly mother. I get that there are not enough hours in a day to get everything done. This is why you have to pick your battles and fight on. Your kids are not the battle you should give up on.

If you go into schools today discipline is a joke and while there are those “I don’t care” type school staff there are way more who want to do more but have been tied up by school policies sparked by outraged parents who couldn’t possibly think their little angel would be so bad that a teacher could treat them to discipline like taking away their cellphone due to it being a distraction. Kids know they can get away with things nowadays and Teachers can barely do their jobs. Compound that with the school staff low wages, we wonder why teachers have such high voluntary turnover rates. Don't quit asking about metal detectors in every school, people. If you do one thing politically in your life, demand them in your area. Also demand gun protection laws iin your area if your area doesn't have a law like that available. It will make it possible to have parents be held liable for irresponsibly arming kids or unstable ppl/failing to properly store their weapons.
And don't fall for no "slippery slope" flim flam from these maniacs who claim to care about kids and innocent ppl, but they are acting more in service of gun worship and playing Purge

It's time to get more aggressive with people who are not responsible gun owners. Ok, I get it, it's not the gun it's the person or persons who are responsible for the gun violence. Seems rather simple to me. We hold the bartender accountable for allowing people to drink, get drunk, and kill someone with a vehicle. So it makes sense to prosecute the parents as well who were careless with the security of this gun. Sure the kid is insane and might have found another way to inflict pain on others, but let's at least send a message to all gun owners here. Convict the parents along with the kid.

What people don’t understand is that there are also state laws regarding confidentiality for students. I’m surprised that we know this students name, and that a meeting took place with his parents. Do I think those laws should go out the window in this case? Maybe. And while I understand the frustration of not knowing what was going on on the schools end, we have to be careful about being quick to blame the school for anything just yet, and they can’t necessarily tell us anything in general, because they are bound by confidentiality laws.

    • @alexanderlapp5048

Keep in mind that bad things happen and the police can't always prevent bad things from happening.

If you are going to tell parents that school is safe, shouldn't you investigate and make damned well sure that this is the case????
So many failures in this case and unfortunately, 4 innocent, bright lives have been lost because of this. No amount of justice is going to bring these kids back. 60 schools shut down due to these false threats?!?! Parents:. Do better. If your kid partook in a hoax call, reprimand them, take away their phone and have them do something useful..like volunteering at a food bank, homeless shelter, pet pound.

  • @kam0406

The school definitely bears some responsibility. They knew of threats and they knew that there was a mentally ill student talking about blood shed and murder while buying ammo in class.
The schools will NOT protect your kids.
My child was assaulted at school by 4 other students and this was not reported the the police. Please understand, that the police should ALWAYS be informed of any threat or assault. Schools are not the police and should not be making decisions about safety.
Please report DIRECTLY to the police and allow them to investigate. It is very obvious that teachers and other school officials will not make the right decision to keep their students and staff safe.
    Something needs to change.

Sooo I guess when he got to school he just walked through the door and the staff said good morning 😃 have a great day..

The educators should be up all night checking every kid's posts, or the parents should know where their child and gun are? Who is actually responsible for the child and how they got armed? Not hearing all cylinders firing. Don't think I'll be following erratic rationale.

I totally blame the parents. If kids are murdering kids then the parents are the problem. If kids are getting bullied at school then the school and parents should work together to stop the bullying so kids are getting the support they need instead of leaving the bullying to intensify and then they start murdering other kids. Do better adults!!!. You are letting these Beautiful children down. 😡🤬🤬🤬

1 family had a parenting problem. There are good families in Oxford who raised polite and respectful children. The whole community isn't bad because of this one person.

    • @coreyschimmel5874

how can you judge a community off of two people? is it not evident that the murderer has terrible, irresponsible parents? I graduated from that school last year, I know the victims, they represent my school, the murderer was an exception to so many incredibly caring individuals that I know from Oxford. I recognize my bias but how can you generalize thousands of parents by peering into a community that just experienced what might be its most tragic day in history?

@@coreyschimmel5874 I'm born and bred in the bronx ny and still reside here; you have to be familiar with the mayhem going on here by the hands of children and other places where it's rampant...the argument is always the parents aren't parenting anymore... just like this kids parents should be held responsible... I DARE my kids to be asinine and think this situation should be played with...yes some kids are just devious but the indicator of a job well done instilling morals, empathy, etc..is how they go about behaving during this time

FYI, "Defund the Police" might be a dumb slogan but what it's ACTUALLY about is precisely what the Sheriff is referring to here: MORE funds for mental health professionals.
There's no shame in mental health concerns, and there'd be even less if these public services had more funds (less tanks for cops).

He's not going to get the death penalty. I don't even know of any case where a court has given a death sentence to someone who's under 18, even if they were tried as an adult.
What is going to happen I think, is he's going to go to jail for like three or four life sentences. He's going to wish that he killed himself, you can only imagine what's going to happen to a 15-year-old in an adult prison for the rest of his life.
In this case, I think the death penalty is the easy way out, and the lighter sentence.
I think the harsher sentence, is him spending the rest of his life in prison beginning as a teenager.

    • @mobileasaurus

The US Constitution objects. Anyone under 18 can't be sentenced to death. It's been deemed unconstitutional since 2005.
