Did you report this to the police when this was going on? Or did you report it to only to your supervisor and then walk away? Where is your moral compass?
Michigan seems to have quite a few extremist militia groups. They tried kidnapping and killing your govenor. That doesn't send a good message or create a good example for kids to follow.
The parents name was on the paper work not the child. The child killed w the weapon un lawful and unsupervised. The Parents Failure to protect gun laws in michigan..
I would say that but also I wonder if parents and educators do enough to teach kids what to do when they see something isn't right. Before, it was straight to 911. It's very simple and easy and straightforward. Now, do kids know what to do? Because I saw a post where someone said kids shoulda texted the police, or they should've messaged the police on facebook. That's really weird because... the kid would have to go through all these extra steps to find out how to even do these. It's too confusing, do kids even know what to do? It should be simplified and made very clear. Even in this press meeting all the officer keeps saying is "share". What does that even mean? I took it to mean.... keep circulating a post because that's literally what the word "share" means with regard to social media. Kids need to be taught very specifically what to do. They need help. This case looks so similar to the Aiden Fucci case where none of his friends ever said anything.
Once again a kid has no accountability, it's the parents fault, teachers fault, music and video games fault but never the kids fault. What a complete load of crap. Do you know how many bad kids come out of good homes or good kids out of horrible homes? ..This is not a one answer fits all. These are not 9-10 years old kids where talking about these are kids who can drive cars, work part time responsibility but not be held responsible for shooting innocent people because parents are always to blame. Are you using the same logic when kids become addicted to drugs, or get pregnant early? it's the parents fault?..Wow. Is it the parents fault at times, yes but always? ridiculous. A good home doesn't always produce good results and bad homes don't always produce bad results..
It’s not just Oakland county getting threats, I live in Wayne county and my granddaughters school was closed too. She’s quite anxious about this, something a six grader shouldn’t have to deal with.
Back in the day kids made threats and it was annoying, but now it is a serious problem. PARENTS do your kids have "funny" bones. Please warn them unless you want to have them charged.
I graduated in '78. In my day of anyone had problem they'd fist fight to resolve their differences. Also, guys mostly used to bird hunt (in season) and come to school with their shotgun in the gun rack in the truck. It was a non issue. It never entered a single person's mind to bring a gun inside school.
Idk about you guys, but I’ve been an adult for a while and my high school years *started* with 9/11 style bomb threats and ended with a cluster of suicides. The era of quaint, innocent schooling is over if it ever truly existed. I’m glad you guys have memories of safer times, but we need to move past the gentle surprise of “back in my day things were simpler” rhetoric. Things haven’t been simple for about 20 years and we have to wrap our heads around it if we’re gonna find solutions to keep kids safe
seriously when you talking back in the day?. do you remember columbine in 1999? i was a high school science teacher then in NH and we had copy cats everyday. I personally busted a kid in a bathroom showing off a handgun to others....please our nation is in a downward spiral with the left in office the lose of a Judeo Christian faith based society to a secular society. the ethical and moral decay of this country is going to be the ruin of this democracy.
I hope they prosecute a few of these stupid call in threat's and show the process and punishment they ended up handing out so these kids doing this stuff realize there's consequences for stupidity
So far, I know of 3 teens in Michigan arrested or charged this week for making threats to schools: 1 in Arenac County has been charged and 1 in Lake Orion (close to Oxford) & 1 in Flint have been arrested.
Teachers and school administrator have very little authority these days. If they had sufficient authority, they would have had the kid arrested after the first threat but unfortunately administrators live in fear of losing their jobs from legal action against them.
I agree with this, and it's the parents that have caused this fear. Because the parents have taken all of the power away from the schools, the schools feel they can't do anything when they need to. Now the parents are screaming about why the schools don't do anything when they need to. It's a catch-22 and a cycle that needs to be broken. The schools need to have a clear line they can work with without the fear of the parents throwing fits and going against the schools. I'm not saying this just to say it either. I am a parent, and I've seen this first hand.
It's shocking that parents of murdered children are upset that the school dealt with the murderer, possibly in possession of the gun used, just hours before the slaughter but was allowed to remain in school, possibly WITH the gun, just hours prior to the shootings!
No, it’s parents who are failing their kids by refusing to actually parent! For failing to teach kids respect, responsibility, integrity, honesty, accountability and instead allowing and enabling dishonesty, entitlement, lack of accountability and lack of responsibility. It’s utterly appalling and an indication of just how far things have deteriorated over the past few decades!
I know the truth hurts but good parents don't raise murderous children. Good parents don't raise kids that have anything to do with "prank" threats either. It seems that some people expect the school system to raise their children. That's what freaked out so many during the pandemic lockdown. They had to actually be parents for a while and they didn't know what to do. Plus, all of the hate and anger parents are getting wrapped up in over politics, etc. is just making it worse. Parents are the problem
You're absolute correct. Thing is, the parents can be good people, but they want put their kid's happiness above everything and don't realize that discipline is just as important. They let their kids get away with everything and even deny the truth when the kid does something truly bad. Look at all the parents of criminals that insist their kid didnt do it or doesn't deserve to be punished because they're a good boy
Social media has changed everything and society has digressed as a direct result of it. These innocent children are being indoctrinated into a system that is producing/encouraging narcissistic sociopaths. Children are learning that if you upload countless pictures of themselves onto social media everyday that this is the key to gaining followers. That the more followers you have ultimately decides your fate of acceptance by your fellow peers. The dopamine hits that come from compliments given by a hundreds/thousands of strangers is what ultimately rules these days. This young generation believes followers are the equivalent of genuine friends. Emoji's have replaced empathy. Morals and values have disappeared. It is more important to appear as if you are living the perfect life instead of being proud of who you are and what you believe in. Appearance is everything these days. Photo shopping your pictures to give the illusion you look differently than you actually look is a serious problem. Social media has derailed our society and specifically this young generation. I think this is a generation where parents have lost control of their children. I am not saying that this relieves neglectful and irresponsible parents of being the awful parents that they are, rather stating the obvious that social media has ruined and digressed the world we live in. That things are only going to get worse from this point on. That things are not as black and white as they once were. That the grey area dominates now.
I need help in my small community of Bellevue Mi! Got bullies threatening to kill my 10 yr old grandaughter and when she went to the teacher the teacher told her "So what, she isn't really going to kill you"! This gramma is beyond pissed!
Us parents need to do a better job of raising our kids and knowing what’s going on in their lives. We don’t have to be perfect, we just need to be more INVOLVED.
The biggest problem is that parents use the school or some other kind of facility to raise their kids. As a single parent of two kids, I can understand where some of it comes from. Parents have to work to provide for their kids. That's less time with them. But, when you are letting a school or daycare raise your kids for you, you need to not ignore them when they tell you something. Last year, parents were complaining about how hard it was to home school their kids and they were driving them nuts. Well...how do you think teachers feel about dealing with your kids all day long? Not to mention, when they come to you, as the parent, and tell you action needs to be taken because of how your kids acted; you throw a fit. "Oh, my little Timmy doesn't behave like that!" Well, now you know, little Timmy does behave like that. So, be a parent and do what needs to be done. Parents need to be a hell of a lot more involved with their kids. Pick an activity they like doing. A great example that I use is plating online games. We pick a game, and co-op it for a few hours. While we're playing I talk to them. Ask them how they're doing. How their day went. Is there anything they want or need to do? Kids are more likely to talk when they're doing something they enjoy. You'll discover that they will even tell you things they normally wouldn't because they are not so guarded. I am a single parent to two kids, who I have homeschooled for 4 years. I work full-time, outside of the home; and take care of my elderly mother. I get that there are not enough hours in a day to get everything done. This is why you have to pick your battles and fight on. Your kids are not the battle you should give up on.
If any of the school staff knew about the videos & posts Mr. Crumbley made and then held those meetings with the parents and still let him go back into the classrooms should be held accountable. If they did not know about the videos then I can’t agree with them being held fully accountable cause these days you just cannot tell what the hell people be thinking or going through
@@herbertpeck8170 I agree more should've been done but we don't even pay our educators a decent living wage. They are already spread too thin. Don't blame them - they're trying their best in a society that values guns more than children
Also let’s be honest here, school staff have been stripped of what authority and power they used to have. If you go into schools today discipline is a joke and while there are those “I don’t care” type school staff there are way more who want to do more but have been tied up by school policies sparked by outraged parents who couldn’t possibly think their little angel would be so bad that a teacher could treat them to discipline like taking away their cellphone due to it being a distraction. Kids know they can get away with things nowadays and Teachers can barely do their jobs. Compound that with the school staff low wages, we wonder why teachers have such high voluntary turnover rates. Some may disagree with some of my points but I think we can all agree, the school system is in shambles
The principal needs to be locked up pending his roll in this horrific incident. The kid had the backpack, why was there not a search done in the meeting and a search of the locker. He also should have been sent home with his crazy parents! They are all responsible for the deaths and should be prosecuted accordingly.

My sincere condolences to all the families involved with this horrible incident that happened to them and other’s. I’m not a lawyer nor am I a police officer, but from my personal opinion everyone broke the system to protect our families and their children. How do you cooperate? Plead guilty?? They drove to Detroit to get an attorney and $4000 cash from an account. That was before charges were filed against them. The prosecutor notified them of charges through their attorney but notified their attorney of the arraignment through CBS. Excuse me? As a parent and as a stay at home mother I have an opinion about letting a daycare raise your children. If you can't afford to have children, don't have them. You have to be responsible adults. It's that simple.
People need to start being a little more welcoming and pleasant to the people they interact with in life. Sometimes maybe even try to say hi and smile at a stranger. The biggest problem in our country is there is no community or civility.
Too much isolation and lack of compassion for other humans turns into a repeating problem. People have to realize that just cause someone sits in the back of the class and looks a little weird and doesn't smell great is also a human and has feelings. Just based on his mugshot he definitely was a kid who was picked on and probably left isolated.
People just to don't know how to be human anymore. Am in the UK a disabled lady was telling me she was always getting sworn at for walking too slow! I stood back and told her to take her time she doesn't have to rush because I was walking behind her but she kept looking round nervous at me so I asked if she's ok that's when she told me people keep abusing her. World is full of sick people.

Quit asking about metal detectors.. a homicidal maniac will find a way to accomplish their deviant goal... How about parents, say, I don't know, BE A PARENT!! Teach them to be respectful, live honestly and dignified and remember that there are consequences to your actions...
Don't quit asking about metal detectors in every school, people. If you do one thing politically in your life, demand them in your area. Also demand gun protection laws iin your area if your area doesn't have a law like that available. It will make it possible to have parents be held liable for irresponsibly arming kids or unstable ppl/failing to properly store their weapons. And don't fall for no "slippery slope" flim flam from these maniacs who claim to care about kids and innocent ppl, but they are acting more in service of gun worship and playing Purge
It's time to get more aggressive with people who are not responsible gun owners. Ok, I get it, it's not the gun it's the person or persons who are responsible for the gun violence. Seems rather simple to me. We hold the bartender accountable for allowing people to drink, get drunk, and kill someone with a vehicle. So it makes sense to prosecute the parents as well who were careless with the security of this gun. Sure the kid is insane and might have found another way to inflict pain on others, but let's at least send a message to all gun owners here. Convict the parents along with the kid.
I’m in awe of all the ads with these serious discussions! Get the ads out of these videos! This is ridiculous! Don’t make a threat that you are going to find them and not do anything to these punks! What people don’t understand is that there are also state laws regarding confidentiality for students. I’m surprised that we know this students name, and that a meeting took place with his parents. Do I think those laws should go out the window in this case? Maybe. And while I understand the frustration of not knowing what was going on on the schools end, we have to be careful about being quick to blame the school for anything just yet, and they can’t necessarily tell us anything in general, because they are bound by confidentiality laws.
You have a valid point. How many times does a student have to go to the principal's office and not start shooting people. Every time a principal disciplines a student, there doesn't need to be a police investigation. Keep in mind that bad things happen and the police can't always prevent bad things from happening. This is a case where the parents of the shooter should have prevented him from taking a gun to school.
@craig smith, This is very real. People don't die in active shooter drills. You also don't have that many patrol cars speeding to a scene for a drill. If you think this is a joke, it isn't funny.
@@margiemarion9437 I’m not sure if that’s how it works, but I would have to know the particulars of Michigan law and I don’t. But that explanation makes sense if that’s the case.
Speakers be careful what you say until charges are filed. Let’s all lock up guns and ammunition in separate locations and NOT share those locations and keys to those locations with our sons. Starts at home. Kids are shooting siblings. They can use baseball bats for weapons. No guns leave home.
So your solution is to replace guns with bats for them to solve their issues. It might be time to start some conversations with your children about not using violence to solve problems.

She was saying there was premeditated evidence before she even had evidence that it was premeditated This is exactly what causes rumors because of people like that
They don’t want police officers outside the school because it could make the kids feel uneasy? If it was normalized there wouldn’t be any reason for them to feel uneasy seeing police.
When I was a young boy a long time ago, we didn’t need police on campus as people had different values. That being said, none of us kids ever felt uneasy around police. They were always a friendly face in our neighborhood growing up.
If these folks think School Security is going to be calling 911 and waiting for a SWAT Team to show up, they are going to be in a world of hurt and have learned absolutely nothing from the past 20+ years of mass shootings.
Michigan needs to do something about the extremist militia groups they have living all over their state. Those extremists recruit teenage boys!!!! They also tried kidnapping and killing your govenor!! You better start doing something very very very fast!!!

Where is their true empathy? Can't watch this anymore. They need to get on the ball and stop this from happening again. Nothing is funny about any of it.

@@monicacampos3260 I think some of us are more aware of inappropriate reactions. Thanks for sharing that you noticed it too. NONE of this could have even taken place.... without the PARENTS total negligence imho! More prevention, setting examples, tangible consequences.. rather than reacting once too late.
I could look at that young man and tell immediately he was not completely nurtured. The early video of him, seemed like he was a happy kid, but he took a turn into the teen years. I have a young teen son and those body changes also lead to mental changes. All of this going during the start of the pandemic, we had many talks about how he was feeling. Now he's adjusted to this life and is looking forward to high school. I don't know what this mans parents were doing besides buying him weapons. I mean, one look at his hair, no one taught him about grooming, smh (sorry, the military kid in me). There are little things parents can do to connect with touchy teenagers to make sure they don't feel like outcasts, etc.
I live about 80 miles away. I was actually driving through Oxford when police were arriving. I was going North bound just getting through Lake Orion and I cop car went flying by me, then another and 2 made a U-turn in front of me. There were cop cars and EMS trucks heading to Oxford I met until I was almost to Lapeer. It was crazy. I knew something really bad must have happened.
good practice to hold press conference getting out in front of misinfo being spread online. that should be the norm after stories like this. but what the hell are people threatening the school?! thats so sad
I don't believe in indiscriminate lawsuits, but in this case, the school shares some of the responsibility as there was a known threat. The school knew of more than one threat and who was making the threats. The school sent a letter out to reassure parents were safe. On what grounds did they make this reassurance? If you are going to tell parents that school is safe, shouldn't you investigate and make damned well sure that this is the case???? So many failures in this case and unfortunately, 4 innocent, bright lives have been lost because of this. No amount of justice is going to bring these kids back. All we can do going forward is to try and figure out what happened and what changes can be made to make sure this never, ever happens again.
I'm disappointed in the school superintendent, he's tone deaf, he gave the dumbest explanation of any county official, vote that dude outta there next time!
60 schools shut down due to these false threats?!?! Parents:. Do better. If your kid partook in a hoax call, reprimand them, take away their phone and have them do something useful..like volunteering at a food bank, homeless shelter, pet pound.
The school definitely bears some responsibility. They knew of threats and they knew that there was a mentally ill student talking about blood shed and murder while buying ammo in class. The schools will NOT protect your kids. My child was assaulted at school by 4 other students and this was not reported the the police. Please understand, that the police should ALWAYS be informed of any threat or assault. Schools are not the police and should not be making decisions about safety. Please report DIRECTLY to the police and allow them to investigate. It is very obvious that teachers and other school officials will not make the right decision to keep their students and staff safe. Something needs to change.

The educators should be up all night checking every kid's posts, or the parents should know where their child and gun are? Who is actually responsible for the child and how they got armed? Not hearing all cylinders firing. Don't think I'll be following erratic rationale.
I saw an interview clip with a student who said he heard something might happen the day _before_! Was it BS? If he really did hear something, how did he hear it? Who said something might happen?

how can you judge a community off of two people? is it not evident that the murderer has terrible, irresponsible parents? I graduated from that school last year, I know the victims, they represent my school, the murderer was an exception to so many incredibly caring individuals that I know from Oxford. Parents are to blame . Always . Raise your children right , set good examples, teach them that there are consequences to everything that they do .
Michigan seems to have quite a few extremist militia groups. They tried kidnapping and killing your govenor. That doesn't send a good message or create a good example for kids to follow.

Oh... the FBI...we are to busy hunting down terrorist parents...we will get back k to you.....

All of them!! N for 5 yrs!!
Totally agree. Schools can’t do anything. The laws and policies protect the kid more than the teacher or school officials.
Sheriff, Leadership we appreciate. God Bless. 🥰✨
It's shocking that parents of murdered children are upset that the school dealt with the murderer, possibly in possession of the gun used, just hours before the slaughter but was allowed to remain in school, possibly WITH the gun, just hours prior to the shootings!
Misinformation
We're failing these kids. We tell them when they see something, say something and STILL they weren't safe.
@@mandyellis876 totally agree 💯
@@mandyellis876 blame gun laws and conservatives writing them. This doesnt ever happen in europe or Australia
Narcissists are the problem, and they spread their toxicity to the children the warp as they're growing up in the same home with them.
Absolutely correct!

Us parents need to do a better job of raising our kids and knowing what’s going on in their lives. We don’t have to be perfect, we just need to be more INVOLVED.
The shooter's parents were INVOLVED
I dont even think this kid was bullied... I dont understand it

It's a result of corporatization and immigration and the resulting large urban centers.

I think that went out the window when they charged him as an adult. His juvenile status is over which equals no more confidentiality.

If they know this guy did it ,and they do then he should never see the light of day again.
No trial
He's a child 🙄 this is so sad..
@@vickytaylor5464 no disrespect but I know of children who run countries , he can handle killing his classmates then he can handle paying for it .
Yes, shocked at the lack of little regards fora humans life period from a child.. this is very sad, that a child killed period!!
I'm disappointed in the school superintendent, he's tone deaf, he gave the dumbest explanation of any county official, vote that dude outta there next time!
Oh and throw the parents away with him .
Charge the people who but him back in the school
Why Aren't the Parents Arrested???*
Start charging bullies and their parents that caused this along with Ethan!
Who else thought their headphones were broken
Such a no brainer; if people didn't have access to guns; these murders would end!
Trust you same folks that let this happen? Then yell at the community like dogs? FU! Totally insane to listen to these people now.
Exactly it’s a damn shame he was able to make a post with the gun and say what he was going to do ‼️ What the hell...
Sooo I guess when he got to school he just walked through the door and the staff said good morning 😃 have a great day..
Damn shame 🤮🚮🗑🚩
The educators should be up all night checking every kid's posts, or the parents should know where their child and gun are? Who is actually responsible for the child and how they got armed? Not hearing all cylinders firing. Don't think I'll be following erratic rationale.
Same thing today....
I saw an interview clip with a student who said he heard something might happen the day _before_! Was it BS? If he really did hear something, how did he hear it? Who said something might happen?
The killer kid posted holding the gun said it was his Christmas toy and he was gonna kill lots of people...ummm how in the hell was that not taking serious??‼️🚩🚩🚩🚩
Great stuff 👍
Damm theses kids are so lost ,how does a kid leave home with a gun
Lots of ribbons on the sheriff's uniform must be a hero
Trying to mend what they should've done a long time ago. 4 teenagers are dead! Their lives were taken! That's unbelievable.
Remembering the days when american parents were incredibly responsible, and emotionally disturbed kids weren't integrated into high school, or civil society.... #goodtimes
#bringbackmentalinstitutions
Very Strange that the Parents, Who Were Called in That morning …
Did they even have a Concern about the New Handgun’s Location ? 🤔 I would have.
he keep saying threats, but never say what kind of threats!
FBI keeping children safe? Not gymnasts
You remind all of us the FBI picks and chooses what they place in file drawer with no investigation
Malignant narcissists: they're everywhere and parents create them.
How come she's not talking about gun reform! She was more serious about GUN REFORM. It comes down to making guns a joke around this country .We will always be unsafe with tons of guns around !
I totally blame the parents. If kids are murdering kids then the parents are the problem. If kids are getting bullied at school then the school and parents should work together to stop the bullying so kids are getting the support they need instead of leaving the bullying to intensify and then they start murdering other kids. Do better adults!!!. You are letting these Beautiful children down. 😡🤬🤬🤬
Guess you should stop taking kids from their fathers.
Sadly schools can’t tell the future and know exactly when or where or how something will happen. He could have said this week and waited the next! Parents need to know and get involved in their kids lives and what’s going on!! Seems his mom was a nut case as well

Sounds like Oxford has a parenting problem...this thought would never enter into the minds of my children
1 family had a parenting problem. There are good families in Oxford who raised polite and respectful children. The whole community isn't bad because of this one person.
how can you judge a community off of two people? is it not evident that the murderer has terrible, irresponsible parents? I graduated from that school last year, I know the victims, they represent my school, the murderer was an exception to so many incredibly caring individuals that I know from Oxford. I recognize my bias but how can you generalize thousands of parents by peering into a community that just experienced what might be its most tragic day in history?
@@coreyschimmel5874 I'm born and bred in the bronx ny and still reside here; you have to be familiar with the mayhem going on here by the hands of children and other places where it's rampant...the argument is always the parents aren't parenting anymore... just like this kids parents should be held responsible... I DARE my kids to be asinine and think this situation should be played with...yes some kids are just devious but the indicator of a job well done instilling morals, empathy, etc..is how they go about behaving during this time
FYI, "Defund the Police" might be a dumb slogan but what it's ACTUALLY about is precisely what the Sheriff is referring to here: MORE funds for mental health professionals.
There's no shame in mental health concerns, and there'd be even less if these public services had more funds (less tanks for cops).
It's obvious he is guilty. Like the German Gestapo in WW 2, there should be a short trial, the guilty is taken out back and shot. Case closed. Will you miss him, will anybody miss him, Hell no, this should be done as soon as possible. Do I hear any objections?
He's not going to get the death penalty. I don't even know of any case where a court has given a death sentence to someone who's under 18, even if they were tried as an adult.
What is going to happen I think, is he's going to go to jail for like three or four life sentences. He's going to wish that he killed himself, you can only imagine what's going to happen to a 15-year-old in an adult prison for the rest of his life.
In this case, I think the death penalty is the easy way out, and the lighter sentence.
I think the harsher sentence, is him spending the rest of his life in prison beginning as a teenager.
The US Constitution objects. Anyone under 18 can't be sentenced to death. It's been deemed unconstitutional since 2005.
