It's interesting to hear about the early days of Christopher Cross. His initial album and Another Page are my favourites, as they have some nice vocal sections. I will always buy Christopher Cross albums. I think he is quite unique. Perhaps we could get an interview with him at some stage.
Albert, that's an idea. I tried to get Christopher a few years ago but heard nothing but our channel has gained 3 times more subs since then so maybe I'll try now. Thanks for the suggestions and watching this video...John
Indeed, 'unique' he was, Albert. 'Sailing' was beautifully crafted/recorded. In my early teens when it came out and immediately recognized it as genuinely inspired.
I really identify with your comment about 'if so and so' s name was on the album cover, you would be interested in hearing it ' I grew up liking singers, but later I realized it was the song crafting, production value, arrangements and playing that really drew me in. Today, I'm as much of more of a fan of the creator as I am the face of the music. And it's so cool when you find more music by these creators that maybe didn't have a famous face on it but every bit is as good as the stuff you liked originally. Olivia Newton-John is a perfect example,. LOVED everything about her. First crush at age 4. Grew up on her early country music, Grease, Physical, and xanadu. But in my twenties I finally dug into John Farrar and it's like a light went off. I'm like, THAT'S why I like her stuff. (btw, try and get John Farrar if you can. He was a part of the Shadows scene before coming to the USA.. Long, storied, history and a great artist and producer and songwriter and player. Oh, and he asked Luke to play that killer guitar solo on Physical. So there's that too. 😂
I know it's a thing for you but it's really annoying when you cut these interviews into sound bits. Too Hollywood and we are living in the age of J Rogen. We don't have the time to search through your catalogue to put the whole interview together. IMO :)
Michael Omartian is one of the great producers in American music. His piano work is incredibly beautiful and majestic!!
Well said...John
i discovered Michael Omartian with his very talented way to play piano arrangements on Cristoper Cross first album

Michael’s name is on almost every Loggins & Messina album. Amazing musician.
One of your best Rick. I've watched it 5 times
Awesome interview John...🙂👍😷
Y'all have such great spirits !

I like Michael's early Christian soft rock (kinda disco). Check out Adam Again, he wasn't always just a producer.
Adam Again is a great album!
Loved the interview John. I’d love an interview with Jefferson starship guitarist Craig Chaquico
I think Michael Omartian plays on "Here At The Western World" and "Bad Sneakers" by Steely Dan as well as Donald Fagen's "The Nightfly" LP.
I think Cross told Mo Austin that Omartian could produce his album if he got Larry Carlton to play on it! He did!
As a rock piano player, Michael Omartian has a unique style which I try to add to my own playing. I try.
I believe Omartian’s ‘74 album on ABC/Dunhill, White Horse, is a better album than anything he produced.
Shawn, It's an amazing album yes. Very adventurous. The who thing takes the listener on such a journey. Thanks for watching BTW...John
One of my favorites as well. The next one in '75 called "Adam Again" was also amazing.
@@adamthomas1246 yeah . Annie The Poet is a wonderful song
What a great story about how he came to produce Christopher Cross. And it made then all a lot of money.
I studied each album Omar played on or especially arranged as if I were studying a textbook.
On of the keys to the success of Christopher Cross was Chet Himes!
two Michael.... Omartian & Boddicker.... on We Are The World... and Al Jarroue We're in this love together
i always pronounced his name like martian.
that's what i thought til i heard him introduced in concert ('Together Live' 1983)
I got that Christopher Cross first album
Why is Owen Wilson in this interview?
😅😅😅
which year is this interview from ? cos Michael sure doesn't look like he is 74 years old!
Michael? White Horse...that song alone should hook ya😉
