@@MortskeRepair I believe you are correct. Millions of old trucks on the road. It's just another seafoam ford without the story.
There are a very limited number of true family businesses left, and they all deserve a little bit of the spotlight.

Great video as always Mortske. Working 31 years for the City of Mesa as a heavy truck mechanic early on I built 100's of those Ford 300 six bangers that went in the small bucket trucks the street light and traffic signal guys used. The gas and water and utility construction GMC and Chevy trucks had 292 sixes backed up b y compound three speed trannies and 2 speed rear ends that also performed well enough to not only haul a fully loaded 2 1/2 ton truck with a full utility box but also towed a big heavy Fleming trailer with probably 500 pounds of black top on it and a full sized Case or JCB Backhoe. The engine's were tough as hell but the 300 sixes in particular hated idling all those hours. The utility guy's wore the 292's out pulling all that weight. None ever blew up. They just got tired. Just for saying I am 30 miles east of where the Super bowl will be in Glendale. Ticket prices for that game are said to be outrageous if a ticket could even be had. We know of a guy who will be an usher at the game. He basically has the run of the place and will be making a whopping $13 an hour. Today in Mesa it almost got to 70 degrees, It was a frigid 40 degrees this morning. I could enjoy the hell out of summers in North Dakota. As soon as baseball spring training concludes here on opening day of the MLB season April 1st Mesa will be in the mid 90's close to a 100 degrees. We see hoards of N Dakota and S Dakota plates around town currently. Apparently resident's from your state like Arizona as much as we do. We endure months of triple digit heat but with little to no humidity to get to our 5 month long winters in the desert. I enjoyed hearing about the history of the 68 Ford pick up and the Kone gas station that has survived this long and was handed down. Thanks for a great time my friend. Until next time.

This was the Kones '68 Ford F100, that matters. Also makes a lot of sense why it was full of Ammo, now knowing they are in the gun trade. It's not rotten, full of mouse, it's just scruffy. I love it. It's a perfect candidate for a mechanical revival, and someone will certainly buy this one off ya.

I learn things every time and if it wasnt for Tuber's like you and Puddin' most of us would just never see such things get done. Most Tuber's take it kind of for granted that viewers know what they know already and that's just not the case. Push rods and cam lobes and top end/bottom ends and bearings and engine mounts and everything else might be very new to a viewer. Thanks for what you guys do.

I care about everything he works on, because each time is a history lesson on automotive design and engineering, along with a connection to parts of small towns and everyday people from decades past.

This brings back great memories of the '68 F250 we used to have on the farm when I was a kid. Same color, too! Miss that truck! It left when we sold the farm.

If they all ran, or knew they all ran, that would take all the fun out of it. But I guess it depends on the definition of fun. Personally, I like thinking "it's gonna go!" Or "maybe it's gonna go" and then being surprised. Yeah, I'm weird that way. Thanks for the effort, Mort. Those of us that love old rusty junk have to stick together! Appreciate it! 👍

Old ford truck diesel swap. I'll bet that would be the most watched video ever. Doing it the Mortske and Duff way would be gold.

Mylanta is the perfect name for the truck given the color of a mylanta bottle. Also, given the amount of heartburn this thing gave you.

Do they remove and tear down the entire engine like we do? There's no point in going any further for me as it's not a pickup I want to own or restore.

    Ford 300 6 manual...be still my heart.
My first ford pickup was a 70 with a 300. It was seized with 70k on the original oil. The guy passed the week he bought it and his wife just drove it until it seized.
I found a bag of crank bearings .002 or .003 oversized and bought rings and a cam. Total investment was $70 and I hauled a 24 foot speedboat to Florida with it 2 days after the rebuild(?). The points I only filed and flicked were the only casualties on the trip other than the mosquitoes and, miraculously, thr rings I didn't know to size finally seated into the cylinders I didn't know enough to hone by the time we hit Georgia.
Polished the crank with valve grinding compound and old underwear until I ran out. Then a t-shirt and rubbing compound.
Greta would have loved how I used paint thinner to clean it out in the gravel alley with the paintbrush that was soaking in it.
O' to be young again. Circa Summer 1980.

Don't listen to Frank, keep doing the history segments. I got a "something" 6 in a 70 mustang outside I'm going to try and get running just to see if it will this summer and I appreciate you going through these. Also at the 1:09 mark about I was trying to see how you had your storage arranged on the side of your toolbox. Always looking for ideas. Enjoyed the video
