If they wanted to show witches in Star wars they should have done the dathomirian night sisters they're much more interesting and we still don't know much about them
For Context: The Jedi do not kidnap children, they can however ask the children if they want or are willing to become a Jedi. But ultimately it is left up to the parents. This show does not show that. The Jedi would however, monitor this planet very carefully to prevent Sith from kidnapping these children or if the coven were dabbling in dark side of the force. Which if this was Lucas era star wars, this coven would have to go before a tribunal for using dark side powers on the Padawan. That would not go unanswered. This show is just making stuff up as it goes along at this point.
So which us it? The Jedi say in the show the Witches are not allowed to train children. But you don't think the Jedi should do anything about the fact the witches are training children even though you say in the lore they wouldn't allow it?
@@justinhammer3196 If this was the original lore, the minute they used dark side powers the Jedi would have retreated and came back in force for them to go before a republic tribunal to answer for it and have to explain what they are doing. If they resisted the Jedi would wipe them out, with the backing of the republic and take the children. But, as I said this is lazy horrible writing.
@@justinhammer3196 Oh I never meant to imply that they were in the wrong. My apologies if I made it sound like that. I was just explaining what a rational Jedi would do lol.
No. They extensively reference Legends which did the same things, which is why there is sizable portion of the fanbase that have claimed Jedi are evil since before Disney owned LucasFilm.
Just knowing not to code a supposed "good guy" as one of the most famous villains in the franchise is a good start. Like, are we SUPPOSED TO IGNORE, that she is Rule 63 of a man with literally no mission outside of expanded lore aside from killing Jedi?
"It's only four Jedi. Who would miss them?" What an absolutely wild statement to come from a Star Wars show. The Jedi aren't random foot soldiers. There are very few of them at any given time, and each one is considered extremely valuable. They all have tons of responsibilities and most serve as Generals in the military. Even one going missing would be considered a major event.
Im glad somebody else noticed. During the clone wars, you'd rarely see 4 or more jedi leading a legion of clones. I was more surprised they sent 4 to some random witch coven than that they were sent at all.
@revolvertaco7493 I think it's more likely that the director just has no idea how valuable a Jedi's time is. Like I said before, it feels like they consider the Jedi to be common foot soldiers. Sending groups on missions was common, but they would usually have only one Master Jedi and MAYBE a Padawan. The rest of the group would be non-jedi soldiers or ship crew members.
Weren't there many, many Jedi across the galaxy at this point in history? Like, thousands or more? They've already established that there are localised Jedi temples on different worlds, implying huge numbers. It's hardly a plot hole or against lore that they sent 4 Jedi to deal with a coven of force witches, and in their desperation/arrogance the witches tried to convince themselves that they could get away with killing them secretly.
Anakin's creation is meant to be special due to the fact that he was a direct rebuttal to attempted manipulation by the Sith. Plageuis and Palpatine essentially went too far. The whole point was that using the force for your own selfish ends will always cause backlash. The witches essentially make it seem like anyone can just poof kids into existence whenever they feel like it...
You're looking at that (really good) theory and calling it fact. And it is a good theory with lots of supporting dialogue from novelizations and cut content. But ultimately all that is definitive was that Anakin's existence is to act as a way to bring balance to the force, whether sith alchemy was involved or not. Star wars is a universe of infinite possibilities, when the witches of dathomir were introduced I was shocked at the existence of the force being used in ways to tie the spirit to a body after death, raise an army of undead and create swords out of thin air. How is this any different? It doesn't detract from the significance of the chosen one, and it expands how different cultures would utilize and perceive the force. I'm not saying these are reasons to like the show, imo the show should be looking better based on its budget. All in all it's just another addition to the Disney cannon. I like both legends and some of the Disney stuff, (don't like the sequel trilogy though) but there's also been a lot of cool stuff. And it more than I would have expected if George still had it, I think for George outside of the main movies he has always given absolute freedom for the most part, and he also knew how to piss off fans as expertly as Disney does. So really if newer star wars stuff is still pissing off fans then I dunno job well done I guess.
@@danyul2571 I agree with a lot of this. George did have finale say in all the Legends era media though. Case in point, he told them to kill Anakin Solo because he was too close to being like Anakin Skywalker if he stayed on the Light Side. Which, by the way, pissed me off so yeah George had that knack. But yeah, it's a great theory that I like but I so wish it was just canon period. Really loved that novel.
The thing is their not even the first one to do it... Yenna from the nightsister is outright made of their burial pods and shell's its been a thing for a while.

Most people willingly give there kids to jedi becasue well how can you raise a child that can throw you across the room on a whim 3. The second they did that shit to torben sabers woulda came out 4. The fact they identify as witches makes me think they are offshoots of night sisters which would make them darksiders so yea there basically evil with shades of grey becasue they draw from negative things like hate and selfishness
Depending on how they use the force. Since they actively interfere by creating life (creating the twins with the force) instead of just being lead by the force like jedi... that likely creates problems with the balance of the force.
@@FentionX All witches are dark side users. However in comparison to Sith and Jedi, their understanding off the Force is much lesser, they view it more as an elemental "in the wind and in the trees" kind of way. It does not make them any less dark side users. Which is further reinforced by the fact that witches are rarely good. And due to witches connection to the dark side, what they allegedly done in this show, creating life, especially on this scale, is outright impossible. Not improbable, impossible. Dark side users can manipulate life, but where Jedi can outright heal, Sith version is of more vampiric nature. Witches creating those twins completely breaks the lore of the Force.
We told them not to use flameable rocks but they kicked us out saying using non-flameable ones would infringe on a childs natural desire to burn their family and friends alive.

Giving the kid a lightsaber was wild. It is like handing a kid a loaded gun. It reminds me of in the original Star Wars, Obi Wan gives Luke a lightsaber and he turns it on and I'm thinking, "Geeze. Without any knowledge of those things, he could accidentally eviscerate himself! Or you!"
To be fair, I was handed a loaded gun as a kid. That was after years of fake guns and the importance of "don't look down the barrel" type talks. Same with swords and knives. Little wooden and training ones until the adults around me felt comfortable enough with my knowledge and safety and common sense around them to hand me sharpened blades and loaded weapons. Under supervisoon on the loaded weapons of course, the blades were less protected just because we were expected to be able to use them in the rough neighborhoods if we came home to an empty but unlocked/open house
@@kyze8284 that's fair but I feel like a gun is safer than a lightsaber. Does it even have a safety? Gun requires you to fire it and pull trigger mechanism. The lightsaber if turned on can slice through metal and shit 😂

A good writer would have written in such a way that everything they do is sickeningly sweet, so even when they're doing good things it feels like they have some sort of malicious ulterior motives. @@White_Recluse yep. Republic law states that the legal guardians of a child found to be strong in the force can refuse to hand them over to the Jedi without any backlash or penalty. Also Jedi didn’t recruit children ages 4 and above because they would have a emotional attachment to their families that could turn them to the dark side.
They are deranged monks though... They believe that having emotion will make you evil one day. So they raise children from a young age into their cult to be emotionless soldiers that follow every command. Don't forget that it was originally the Jedi that controlled the clone troopers.
Wrong on the Jedi. Their recruitment being sketchy comes from morons who like to flanderize the Jedi and make them look bad. The ONLY compelled thing pre-Disney that the Jedi can do is a midiclorian test. From that point, they can only ask if they can take the child for training. The parents have every right to say “no”, and if they do there’s nothing the Jedi can do about it.
@@White_Recluse the only repercussion for refusing the Jedi's offer of training was the kid would not be allowed to be trained in the force out of fear you'd have a rogue dark sider running lose, which is actually pretty reasonable when you think about it. The choice the parents had was let the kid get trained to use their powers.... or just don't. That's it. in the original lore, the stuff written by adults, people were also kind of eager to get their kids tested while young enough to enter the Jedi order. They looked up to the Jedi as legitimate good guys, your kid could grow up to be a literal hero. The Jedi didn't have to go out looking for random kids to steal, they had more candidates then they had the ability to train. The Phantom Menace, flawed as that movie was, made it clear that everything about Anakin's discovery was very much abnormal, and the Jedi council worked very hard NOT to have him trained because of his emotional state, regardless of his actual power levels

Maybe lighting too • The Force itself can almost do anything but its usually wholely depends on the individual's level of skill and power +Examples of the Force Abilities are: Force Telepathy, precognition, healing, "persuasion", Force Jump & Speed, Force Stasis, Projection, "Mind Control," Force Lightning & Electric Judgment, Force Storm, Force Purge, Zombie Ritual, "Have Baby" and of course Stupidfiy
You see it might just be me, but the way they make it sound and the modern universe is it anybody can become a skilled force user. I would have never expected that some people have more of susceptibility than others, only that some are born with the ability to know how to use it off the bat, but everyone can become that powerful of they practice.
@@Alteori Precisely, and this is also one of the bigger frustrations with mainstream modern Starwars from older fans. They disregard the nuanced rules that the world was built upon. So now when you look for an explanation, it's waved off as "I always could." Example Luke Skywalker vs Rey "Palpitine" Luke's Growth is well displayed and shown, you see him struggle. When he fought Vader for the first time he lost his hand (like his father) and ran away. But with Rey she's plowing through it all and gets the hang easily, when she Fought Kylo Ren she won every encounter. The man is a seasoned fighter up against a rookie! Before disney got star wars it was originally established that the Jedi don't accept kids past the age of 4, because they have too strong of an attachment to their family at that point and that could lead them down the dark side.
and if they actually taught them how to deal with their emotions and how to properly deal with attachments and whatnot then a certain Skywalker wouldn't have done what he did
@@orangesilver4568 Yeah, and there were a lot of families in Luke's new Jedi order - most of which didn't actually turn to the Dark Side - but also clear instances where family attachments did directly lead to paths down the darkside just as the old Jedi order feared. Most infamously Kyp Durron. There was also a period - or multiple periods - in the ancient past where Jedi had families. And even during the Clone Wars period there was Ki-Ai-Mundi (or whatever his name was) who was allowed an exception to the rule because of his species having an extreme gap of a lot more women than men so his species survival would have taken a major hit had he been held to the same rule. Plus there was the direct Padawan rule where established Jedi did more frequently take on older Padawans directly (which is what Qui-Gon tried to do when the Council denied Anakin training). At its core, the rule focusing on only taking in small children was at its core that 1) provided an obstacle for Anakin, and 2) was part of the larger picture of the old Jedi having fallen away from what they were supposed to be. But it was also a rule that wasn't without merit and made sense from the perspective of Jedi trying to uphold order. And ultimately, the fact that Luke's order managed to make things mostly work even without the restriction in place demonstrated that the old Jedi weren't wrong in their concerns, but perhaps went about trying to fix it in the wrong way. Rather, had they focused on Yoda's wisdom of 'learn to enjoy the time you have with those you love and let go of them when they die' that he gave to Anakin instead, it would have solved a lot of problems.

“They’re only four Jedi, who would miss them?” Oh, I dunno, maybe the Jedi Order who likely sent them off on this mission in the first place. With records showing who went and where they went, and for what purpose. The Jedi Order that would send another team to investigate the disappearance of at least one Master and a Master-Padawan team. The Jedi Order that has the support of the Republic and access to all those resources, ships, and what few combat troops they have, along with the forces the Jedi can muster. Let’s see your little coven deal with twenty experienced Jedi. God that was such a stupid line. Right there on par with “Attack me, with all of your strength.”
If anything the Jedi are still clearly the good guys here despite all the show's attempts to paint them as "bad", they did nothing wrong. They are like child protective services, they felt something was off about the way these children were being trained and they were right, what kind of sister tells her twin sister she will "end her" if she leaves, then proceeds to set her room on fire (the impossible physics of that is a whole different issue) but clearly one of the sisters was really messed up in the head before the Jedi arrived, the Jedi had every right to be suspicious and wanting to take them away. Also the notion Jedi always just take children by force from their parents is not true, Star Wars Theory pointed out this strawman in his latest video, go give it a,watch, for example, in the prequels the Jedi council literally refused to accept in and train Anakin because he was too old, it was Qui-Gon Jinn dying wish that persuaded them to do it.
I went to watch him after. He made me laugh and his voice is great lol. However, I still need more. He only touched on it briefly but then other fans are saying this is not a new lore with the Jedi, them actin like this.
@@Alteori Using my incomplete knowledge of the extended lore, the Jedi do have the right to take any force sensitive, they just usually don't. They were given that power primarily in times of war since a trained force user is basically a WMD and the Republic didn't want their enemies getting hold of such a resource. In peace the Jedi only take the very young because they find longer training creates more controlled and balanced Jedi. There actually have been Jedi led genocides (mostly known as the Sith Purge). It was started when the Jedi banned the use of Force Alchemy/Sorcery and the rebels in the organization joined with a dark side race on Korriban known as the Sith. (the Sith race actually had produced a number of Jedi) Force Alchemy was an extremely high level of dark force power that manipulated life itself and the Jedi (who at that time practiced a balance of light and dark, the light side only Jedi was an overcorrection on the Jedi after the wars) felt it was acting like god. Results include but are not limited to: the Rakh-gouhl plague - disease based mutated zombies (you literally slowly turn into a slavering monster with your mind being consumed by it over days or weeks) that had wiped out life on several planets, Darkwing Scourge - immortality tests that resulted in a hive mind zombie that slowly learned, Dathomiry witches enslaving the Rancor species and turning them into monsters, enslaving nearby villages for supplies and taking men for mates (who were killed afterwards) or assassins/bodyguards, created zombies, "voodoo" poisoned or controlled people, creating life - Anakin Skywalker, ect.
yeah, that may be like child protective services, but they themselves don't really know how to properly take care of children, especially with the whole dealing with emotions and attachments properly in a health way part let's very much failing at that with a certain Skywalker 😅
@ZorusSerif They surely screwed up with Anakin pretty badly (first thing they should have done after returning to temple was going back and freeing his mom for example), but doesn't mean they don't know how to deal with children, they raised hundreds if not thousands of younglings just fine, including many of the famous Jedi we know like Kenobi and Qui Gon Jinn.
Okayyyy, this is the singular thing about this show I will defend. They're new to combat, a quick warning what for what looks to be their very first time isn't that bad.
The Jedi Temple was on Coruscant, which was the capital planet of the Galactic Republic. The Jedi had open communications with every planet in the Republic and every non-Republic planet associated with those planets. If a young child displayed obvious strength in the Force for their species, there were channels to request an envoy from the Jedi temple to observe and test the child. The Jedi live through example, and only offer training, not demand it. If training is refused by the child, they accept that refusal, because the training cannot be effective if forced upon the child. If the training is refused by the parents, they also accept the parents’ wishes; to do otherwise would cause unnecessary distress in the child and disrupt their training. Also, if someone does go through training, but decides to leave the Jedi Order, they are allowed to do so. The Jedi deem a child “too old” to receive training, because as you age, it becomes difficult to overcome pre-conceived notions and ideas about yourself, others, and the universe in general. Children are more malleable and open to new ideas. It is usually harder for more developed minds to fully open themselves to the Force and allow the Force to flow through them. The Jedi also understand the relationship between masters and padawans must be built on trust and mutual respect in order for the training to be effective.
It seemed to me from Episode 1 that a big part of being "too old" is, the Jedi want to start training when children are young enough to forget all attachments they had before, even to their parents. You never hear Jedi talking about their parents, only their Jedi masters. Yoda's objection to Anakin was that he was too old (at age 9!), had attachments to his mother, and was afraid of losing her. That was the fear that leads to anger, hate and suffering -- and indeed, when Anakin failed to save his mother in Episode 2, his desire for revenge motivated his first evil act. The Jedi in the prequels talk a lot about how personal attachments are dangerous for a Jedi, and Palpatine is able to use Anakin's feelings for Padme and his desire for the power to save her, as a way of manipulating him. One can question the rightness of separating extremely young children from their parents and raising them as monks with no personal attachments, but this was already lore about the Jedi long before The Acolyte. I do wonder, though -- how much consent can a child really have, if a nine-year-old is too old?
Where is their father? They have no father... you mean those little black girls? Like dude who gave the okay for this? This just keeps getting worse when everyone says surely it can't get worse. They doubled and tripled down like holy shit.
It's supposed to ape / copy The Phantom Menace when Shmi says 'there is no father'. That's the reference. Problem is, there's no buildup to Anakin, so it's hard to extrapolate because now there's twins. Which does make Anakin non-special, but it also introduces a conceptual alien into the Star Wars universe if The Thread is more special than The Force, and Anakin isn't the chosen one, he's the runner-up.

The Jedi weren't good though they did indeed kidnap children and sometimes destroyed other force religions and even genocides the old Sith homeworld. The real issue is that they act like the witches are good which is wrong.
How it is in actual canon Jedi seek out force sensitive children and ask their parents for permission to take the children to the temple to join the order. These children are usually 3-5, because the Jedi don't believe in attachments so they normally take the children before they get too old. In the case with Anakin he was too old and already attached to his mother so the Jedi council originally didn't want to take him in. It was only after Quin Gon died that the council finally decided to take him in, to respect his wishes. What's happening with Osha and Mae, wouldn't normally happen at all, the writers specifically did it like this to paint the Jedi as the bad guys and the witches as the good guys despite the fact they clearly worship the dark side. So yeah the Jedi aren't actually saints, and there have been extreme cases where they take children by force, but only when absolutely necessary. So no, the Jedi aren't like this normally, the writers just wanted to paint them as the bad guys.
@@justinhammer3196 They don't know they were created though, otherwise they would've taken them by force not try to manipulate the children over to them.

The witches were the ones to make the first move, and the Jedi were _still_ willing to leave peacefully and without a fuss, but the fact that the witches kept trying to interfere (and the fact that they use the Dark Side) means that their deaths were well deserved. _Because_ the witches are clearly Dark Side users, the Jedi would've been justified in simply taking the twins when they were out in the forest, but they didn't; the Jedi went to the effort of trying to establish a peaceful accord with the witches and allowing them to let the children go on their own terms, and they were even willing to leave the planet _without_ the children if they couldn't come to an agreement, so the Jedi were _completely_ in the right throughout the episode. Also, to clear any confusion, the Jedi have the right to _test_ someone for their Force potential, but they don't actually _take_ them unless their parents give their consent. Not only that, but the Jedi themselves allow parents to decline the tests in the first place. The one thing that happens in this episode that I disagree with is Torbin not telling the child that he was going to take a blood sample, but even then that could be chalked up as a mistake on his part due to inexperience.
Yup. The Dark Side isn't just "Spicy Force Magic," it literally fucks with your mind. This situation is like CPS finding two kids in a cult of weirdos who commune with God through methamphetamine, liturgical dance, and lesbianism.
It's understandable that the coven would be defensive, knowing that the Jedi were spying on them, plus they don't necessarily have reason to trust the Jedi, so in their fear can't be sure that the Jedi wouldn't just take the children. The mother also fears that the children will want to become Jedi, and choose to leave voluntarily. As the old witch says, "If they pass the test, the girls will leave", and one of the twins says, "if we pass, they take us away and we'll never see our mother again". So whether the Jedi would automatically take them on passing the test or not, the witches believe that they would. So far the story is simply doing a good job at showing how fear, distrust and misunderstanding between two competing ideologies can get out of control. The Jedi say: "We are concerned that you are training children. Republic law states -" This implies that only the Jedi can train force sensitive children, suggesting that the Jedi would forcefully take the children as the only way of preventing their training outside the Jedi order, regardless of whether dark side force magic was being used or not. Why? From the coven's perspective this is clearly wrong, and why shouldn't it be? Why does the Jedi religion have the only right to mould force potential children to fit their particular belief system? You say that the coven is using dark side magic and you may be right - there are certainly allusions to it - but so far we've seen no conclusive narrative evidence of this. The Jedi way of training children isn't necessarily without its flaws either; prohibiting them from having any attachments, to the extent of denying them meaningful relationships with their own family, has been shown in future stories (timeline wise) to be one of the causes of their downfall, and one of Anakin's main reasons for turning to the dark side. The point is, it's not as clear cut as "the Jedi are entirely good and justified, and the witches are entirely bad and wrong."
@@voiceinthenoise3357 Dude. They are Dark Side force adepts. Do you know what the Dark Side does to the mind and body? @@voiceinthenoise3357 The fact that the Jedi came forward and asked in the first place already means that they have been deemed by a Master as a non-threat. If the Coven had been deemed as a threat being a large group of Force users, they'd have called back to the Council and have them purged to the last.
Nah doctors often distract kids from needles so they dont stress out and jerk away and get hurt. So turning a traumatizing moment to a ouchy is much better.

We once let an old child become a jedi... Then she and her sister who grew up to be sibling lesbian lovers who murdered men and kidnapped women to create their cult happened. So we all agreed to make an age limit on children to recruit.
I wouldn't take the side of the actual cannon on this... Justifying kidnapping toddlers to strip them of any capacity to bond with another person so they can be an emotionless soldier is an extremely bad look no matter how you frame it. Jedi are taken, with their parents' consent, at a young age so they can learn how to use their gifts for the betterment of society, and their young age means they're less susceptible to corruption. I'd also like to remind you that the Dark Side is, without question, an objectively dangerous, corruptive, and addictive force; once it's been used, no matter how well intentioned its use was, the temptation to use it again will always remain. My best guess it's a terrible misunderstanding (if not out right hate for star wars) of the witches from the clone wars show. Witches were misandrist and treated males like shit, females and males lived in their own villages and they only met to make babies. They all call each other brothers and sisters like a cult or a close community. And the boss/strongest witch is called Mother. Not ''mama''. Isn't it racist? Also, those were witches of Dathomir but now there are witches everywhere! Add it to the purple lightsaber and Jedi that somehow survived the purge. Obi Wan was presumed dead, that's why they weren't looking for him. At least fake your death!
It’s Filoni, WDW pro made a great point about how much more prevalent the witches are in Star Wars media are now, even in the Jedi Fallen Order game. It’s all part of the plan, they even made an entire new universe JUST to give the witches a backstory in Ahsoka

Despite what most people think, the Jedi don't force people to give up their children they may remove them from abusive families; but majority they get the consent from the parents or the parents willing give them up to the order. the Acolyte is trying to paint the Jedi as villains because the writers have narrative they want to follow and they want it to supercede canon. The witches are supposed to be exiled and are not supposed to have children, since the mothers are hiding the fact that the twins were conceived by the use of the force, the Jedi looking into the matter to see if one of them may be thr chosen one, hence why they are so interested in osha.
Yeah they do. The whole reason why Darman and Etain's child was hidden during the events of Republic Commando besides keeping their relationship a secret was to keep the Jedi from taking him away.
@@Drums_of_Liberation the Jedi don't allow majority of their members to have children or a family, yeah there are exceptions but they're usually due to a near extinction of a species, if a member of the Jedi are having kids then of course the order is going to remove the child if the Jedi is still part of their ranks.
How would those witches grow as a society then? They would just die after a few years since none of them can reproduce with each other... It's obvious that they are ALL having force babys with each other.
@Alteori the REASON why the Jedi was giving off SA/PDF Vibes, is because the Acolyte Creator is Leslie Headland. She was the PERSONAL ASSISTANT to *Harvey Weinstein* and was never punished for (allegedly) Feeding him his Victims. So of course Leslie would be someone who knows how to groom…😖
Always great for a group, to see forced characters, that are associated with bad stories and also some sort of hollow characters. Great, i learn with those movies and series, that all lesbians seem to be like that, since they most often are depicted that way. Good job, i´d say. ... of course every lesbian - that doesn´t primarily identifies herself nearly excluesively with her sexuality and isn´t stuck in the tribalism game - would intuitively dislike or even hate that.
The weird pony tail thing is a symbolic thing to show that they are a Padawan meaning that they are in training it is removed when they become a knight and later they become a master. For races without hair they make a string of beads on their head to symbolize it. So in six years that guy becomes a master which is impressive and then stays in the force field for ten years
Very simply put not taking and training force sensitive children when they are young leaves them vulnerable to the dark side and endangers them and their families and community. So the Jedi train them to handle their gifts so they don’t go all psycho and burn down the whole town and murder people but yeah sure they’re the bad guys. **this is Harvey W personal assistants project- Leslie created, wrote, and directed so if it’s giving you creepy predator vibes 🤔 also Jedi are originally the good side of the force (they are flawed but good) but Disney Star Wars has tried to blur the lines between good and evil so of course they have to destroy the Jedi and make them like evil creepers
Well see that makes sense but then the witches make it seem as though the Jedi are being monopolistic with their power. The witches have learned to control their power so in their perspective, why can't the witches train the children?
@Alteori Perhaps if the witches had conveyed that and not been all shady and attacked they could’ve discussed 🤷♀️ however the fact that just one of the little girls was able to defend against the mother, when two full grown women couldn’t showed that the girls powers were far beyond them
@@Alteori The difference between these witches and the Jedi, is that these witches teach their students to use the dark side. That's incredibly dangerous for the whole galaxy at large. Leaving darksiders alone is like letting a ticking nuclear timebomb just do its thing.

Hearing you talk about how predatory this language is, makes it so much more creepy to know that this show was written and directed by Harvey W's former assistant. Just wow!
Real life might be a complicated gray mess, but Star Wars has always been pretty black and white about good versus evil, one being the Jedi and the other being the Sith. This just seems like a deliberate attempt to, once again, rewrite the Mythos in order to further tarnish what's left of Lucas's original vision.

To answer your question, Jedi were always perceived as good and a parangon of justice in the Star Wars Universe. Rarely you would see a jedi falling into the dark side. Also when looking for new apprentices, they would actually ask the family and the child if they want to become a jedi. If they said no, the jedi would just keep an eye on the kid to protect him/her from the Sith.
HellavuBabyFace had a really good observation in this episode showing how evil the witches were and that Jedi were right (so far) and heroes (as of episode 3).

Rebels - You are evil and should have never been given power! Palps - Lesbian Space Witches no longer exist under my rule. No more fake Jedi either. Newly recruited Storm Troopers - You head the man! Long live the Empire!
The original motivations (pre Disney) Palpatine had for creating the Empire was... 1. Destroy the Jedi and bring the force under the sole control of the Dark Side, which is full of Force Users that love slavery, racism and power 2. Because he felt the presence of a Empire full of Sith stronger than Himself in Unknown Space waiting to invade "known space" and needed the "entire galaxy" united under a Fascistic rule with an army large enough to fight the Sith Empire and bring it under his control.
There's a very easy lesson the star wars movies taught us both in the original trilogy and again in the prequels. Love leads to fear, fear leads to grief, grief leads to hatred, and hatred leads to the dark side. The Jedi absolutely do not like taking on new students have have strong attachments to someone, the Jedi council absolutely REFUSED to take on Anakin even though it was Qui Gon's dying wish, it was only until Obi Wan threatened to defect if he was not allowed to teach Anakin that they relented. The Jedi would ABSOLUTELY not go to a random ass planet of witches and try to kidnap one of two twin girls that had their parents still in their lives., they would probably not take on those two twins as Jedi even if the witches BEGGED the Jedi to do so because of the huge fucking risk they would to becoming Sith.
28:13 Correct, the word "Padawan" is the word for "apprentice." Meaning someone who is still new and in training, that rat tail hair is also an indicator for this status.

So, one of the themes of the precuels is that the Jedi order has become complacent and entangled in politics, they look like hipocrits which allows the villain to twist the Republic's institutions (also eroded) against them and form the totalitarian empire. Different authors treat the potential evil inside Jedis in different ways, but through trials and stories, in the end a Jedi is a knight of justice, sometimes of creed or personal.

Forget what you thought you learned from the expanded universe and watch the movies again. Jedi have bonds and loves, and grow stronger through those bonds. That's a thing that happens in the original six films. Lucas himself, makes an out-of-setting statement about that very thing, saying Jedi are against _unhealthy_ forms of attachment. "and also a lot of Jedi, in addition, became the very arrogant" Wrong. Yoda specifically talked about this, and he said "some," and that at the time of Episode 2, that was a flaw that was growing more common. That was growing more common though, because of something people tend to forget about because, I swear, nobody ever watches the movies, the ability of the Jedi to use the Force was diminishing, and it was diminishing because Palpatine had tipped the balance of the Force all the way into dark.

Hey Alteori, long time viewer, (like since HTTYD) • The Witch leader's Partners is a Zabarak, the same race Darth Maul is, They have Horns, Durability and a Temper that's kinda it, they still function normally. • The reason why the Jedi come off is so intrusive is because not only do they function as the galactic police they also scout out *"Force Sensitive Children or Younglings."* And take them in as Padawans (the silly rat-tails). And it's usually not malicious "the young ones HAVE the option to say No." The reason why the Jedi act early is because, even if they get a declined, that individual could possibly awaken their powers to a destructive degree. Like X-men mutants. •Jedi are apprehensive of other practitioners of The Force because they're usually dangerous if left unchecked. point in case The Sith (evil space wizards) and their "Acolytes" who often use a corrupted version of the force to do wild stuff like Shoot lightning, Mind Control, or straight up Disintegration. • The reason why the Jedi are said to be evil is because they don't mesh well with others that disagree with their rules sometimes. *Don't ask about the Mandalorians* lol
It was established that dark plague is the Dark Sith Lord was the only one that was able to create a life with the force using it in a dark way. When the dark plagues did something that was so dark to the force, the force had to rebalance itself, so it created anakin.

@@Alteori Terms heard in the military, if you enjoy dark humor… Mandatory Funday and The Fat Electrician have good shorts. Also thank you for articulating the problems in the show. Many of us just go F$&!!!! Why!!!
If this was written by Lucas, the Jedi would've seen the Zabrak mother (the one with horns) and instantly realise she was a force user attuned to the dark side of the force, that's what the black markings signifies in the Zabrak race. They would then ask to test the children, with no manipulation. Plus under Lucas Jedi would only take the child if the parents or guardians agreed. *edit* Also the lack of horns on both twins and the lack of Black Markings on Mae (both as a child, where shes clearly on the path to being "evil", and as an adult where she's a Sith Acolyte) leads me to believe that even though the Zabrak carried them they don't have any of her DNA.
Black markings on a Zabrak don't mean they are evil, the tattoos signify their heritage and where they come from. There are Sith tattoos and similar used by dark side users, which are what Maul and the male Zabraks on Dathamir wore.
I've never been an expert on the lore, but Jedi training starts when children are younger than 4 if i remember correctly and they indeed looked for force sensitive kids...but they NEVER took them by force or creepy subterfuge and it was always a choice of the family to give them up to the order. It might feel weird but you gotta understand that in the "old canon" force sensitive people were extremely rare and most of the time the family made that choice because the order would have provided a better life and safety to the kid. They had to be young because children can more easily open their mind to the force and because the jedi tought that emotional attachments to the family could lead to the dark side because of the fear of loss (as Yoda says "Fear is the path to the dark side... fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering"), this was one of the rules that got changed when Luke rebuilt the order (in the old canon at least). The way this show portrays the jedi is so creepy and stupid.
Some of those kids weren't willingly given up though. One of the main reasons Palpatine in the EU was never discovered by the Jedi was that his parents had hidden him away so the Jedi wouldn't take him

@@Alteori yeah, the only time, at least in the current canon, the jedi had only been the real good guys in the original 3 movies, from there every new movie or show has made the effort of telling us just how awful and incompetent they are.
Lore Time: Jedis typically travel around to find children who are force adepts. However, they usually get the children when they are too young to remember the parent so attachment isn't established. By the time Anakin was found, he was technically too old and have attachments to his mom. Normally he would NEVER have been allowed in. Osha would NEVER been allowed to join EVEN if she severed all bonds.
Ohhhhhhhh. I mean that's still a little creepy to me. The parents are just ok with this??? Anyway, why would the Jedi knowing this, fight so hard to adopt the children knowing they are too old?? I mean if they are forcing the evil side into the story, it would have made more sense if that lore wasn't already established as you said.
@@Alteori The parents are supposed to be ok with it so Jedi take the children in with the parents permission. Endymion made a good point in a podcast recently where he compared the Jedi to the X-Men. @@AlteoriSince this is 100 years before the prequels, perhaps they have not yet made the rule on ages, and maybe Osha flunking out of the Academy is the reason they establish that precedent. Idk I haven't kept up with the Disney Canon, especially since this High Republic show completely overwrites this entire era compared to the old E.U. where the practice was longstanding tradition. Also, yes this does seem to be a deliberate malicious debasement of the Jedi; even in the prequels the point was they had become complacent and hubristic stagnation was their downfall, but they were still very much the good guys.
@@ThePopcultureman I’m sorry, but that’s kinda stupid. In the original EU, which this obviously isn’t canon to, the Jedi as we know them in the movies were established in their current form 1,000 years before the first film.
None of that was a standard exchange between Jedi and Bystanders. Honestly the jedi wouldn't have a reason to be there since they thought the planet was 'uninhabited'.

They all have tons of responsibilities and most serve as Generals in the military. Even one going missing would be considered a major event.

@@danyul2571 _How is this any different?_
It's stupid.
@@danyul2571 I agree with a lot of this. George did have finale say in all the Legends era media though.
And due to witches connection to the dark side, what they allegedly done in this show, creating life, especially on this scale, is outright impossible. Not improbable, impossible. Dark side users can manipulate life, but where Jedi can outright heal, Sith version is of more vampiric nature.

All Jedi children get lightsabers, well training sabers I guess
To be fair, I was handed a loaded gun as a kid. That was after years of fake guns and the importance of "don't look down the barrel" type talks. Same with swords and knives. Little wooden and training ones until the adults around me felt comfortable enough with my knowledge and safety and common sense around them to hand me sharpened blades and loaded weapons. Under supervisoon on the loaded weapons of course, the blades were less protected just because we were expected to be able to use them in the rough neighborhoods if we came home to an empty but unlocked/open house

Also why it was only force wielders that could find the crystals, because they were SUPPOSED to just be rocks to everybody else;
Minus the superpowered Death Star that supposedly was using giant kyber crystals (that Darth Vader himself needed to find since the miners couldn't figure out what was crystal and what was ice/rocks) to basically make a giant lightsaber to destroy planets (which is why it had to be IN RANGE of a planet and not just shoot a giant laser from across the galaxy) but that was just so much power required to operate it was only feasible with a construct the size of a moon
Basically, lightsabers were just a metal rod with a icy looking crystal inside until you learned to control the force enough and be intuned enough to find, make, and then power your own saber through the force. A paperweight to anyone else

Has it? From my understanding they don’t take away anyone’s children without the consent of the parents.
@@White_Recluse the only repercussion for refusing the Jedi's offer of training was the kid would not be allowed to be trained in the force out of fear you'd have a rogue dark sider running lose, which is actually pretty reasonable when you think about it. in the original lore, the stuff written by adults, people were also kind of eager to get their kids tested while young enough to enter the Jedi order.

"The Force Surrounds us, Penetrates us, Binds the Galaxy Together"
• Medichlorians are force charged cells in everyone and everything
• a higher Medichlorian count means easier to manipulate the force
• Some are more Force Sensitive than others and then "Gifted"
• the force itself is unbiased but is perceived as having two side.
• the results of leading on either side shows in how it effects you.
• the Lightside could turn you into a Force Ghost
• the Darkside will give you Yellow eyes and extreme Hatred. Maybe lighting too
• The Force itself can almost do anything but its usually wholely depends on the individual's level of skill and power
+Examples of the Force Abilities are:
Force Telepathy, precognition, healing, "persuasion", Force Jump & Speed, Force Stasis, Projection, "Mind Control," Force Lightning & Electric Judgment, Force Storm, Force Purge, Zombie Ritual, "Have Baby" and of course Stupidfiy
So now when you look for an explanation, it's waved off as "I always could."
Example Luke Skywalker vs Rey "Palpitine"
Luke's Growth is well displayed and shown, you see him struggle. When he fought Vader for the first time he lost his hand (like his father) and ran away.
But with Rey she's plowing through it all and gets the hang easily, when she Fought Kylo Ren she won every encounter. The man is a seasoned fighter up against a rookie!

Subversion to normalize the bad.
Before disney got star wars it was originally established that the Jedi don't accept kids past the age of 4, because they have too strong of an attachment to their family at that point and that could lead them down the dark side.
This was one of the main reasons why the Jedi Council did not want to train Anakin. They say this in The Phantom Menace
and if they actually taught them how to deal with their emotions and how to properly deal with attachments and whatnot then a certain Skywalker wouldn't have done what he did
Which honestly doesn’t make sense
Didn't Luke restart and change the Jedi order?

Watch them somehow make it out as the Jedi genocided the witches “for the greater good”, to make them the ultimate baddies
Results include but are not limited to: the Rakh-gouhl plague - disease based mutated zombies (you literally slowly turn into a slavering monster with your mind being consumed by it over days or weeks) that had wiped out life on several planets, Darkwing Scourge - immortality tests that resulted in a hive mind zombie that slowly learned, Dathomiry witches enslaving the Rancor species and turning them into monsters, enslaving nearby villages for supplies and taking men for mates (who were killed afterwards) or assassins/bodyguards, created zombies, "voodoo" poisoned or controlled people, creating life - Anakin Skywalker, ect.

let's very much failing at that with a certain Skywalker 😅
@ZorusSerif They surely screwed up with Anakin pretty badly (first thing they should have done after returning to temple was going back and freeing his mom for example), but doesn't mean they don't know how to deal with children, they raised hundreds if not thousands of younglings just fine, including many of the famous Jedi we know like Kenobi and Qui Gon Jinn.

HAHAHA
👏🏿👏🏿

Forgotten? To forget something requires first knowing it.
Force created children by dark side witches might be one of those special cases you mentioned.
@@justinhammer3196 They don't know they were created though, otherwise they would've taken them by force not try to manipulate the children over to them.
It's ridiculous how the Acolyte writes and portrays the Jedi as being kind, respectful, and non-violent, yet tries to make them seem like villains.
I agree
The fact that the Jedi came forward and asked in the first place already means that they have been deemed by a Master as a non-threat. These witches are Force users, and a group this large out and about normally doesn't go very well with the Order. But they were given reprieve and were allowed to stay as they are.
If the Coven had been deemed as a threat being a large group of Force users, they'd have called back to the Council and have them purged to the last.

For races without hair they make a string of beads on their head to symbolize it.

Very simply put not taking and training force sensitive children when they are young leaves them vulnerable to the dark side and endangers them and their families and community.

1. Destroy the Jedi and bring the force under the sole control of the Dark Side, which is full of Force Users that love slavery, racism and power

One of the main reasons Palpatine in the EU was never discovered by the Jedi was that his parents had hidden him away so the Jedi wouldn't take him
@@Drums_of_Liberation where's this story from? Again, i know very little about the "Legends" lore but i can't seem to find anything about this. Wikies just say that Palpie was basically always an ass and was interested in sith lore and artifacts since his early years
So, you fell asleep during the best Star Wars movie EVER MADE, and yet you stayed awake during the ACOLYTE. WHAT"S WRONG WITH YOU!
You’re laughing is so precious!😂🤣😅
What?
13:17 I can see where Alteori is talking about the physical differences with the twins. May has a pointer chin while Osha's is more round.
Jedi are now incompetent creeps, hypocrites, weak, arrogant, selfish...are they even the good guys at all? When was the last time a story painted the jedi as something good?
LOL below you said this isn't a new thing apparently. It's lore that has been established for decades. Is that true? 😅
@@Alteorithe Jedi order has been iffy and hypocritical for a while but never this bad
@@audreyharris7643 damn. It's not making me want to watch any other Star wars movies 😅
@@Alteori yeah, the only time, at least in the current canon, the jedi had only been the real good guys in the original 3 movies, from there every new movie or show has made the effort of telling us just how awful and incompetent they are.
The Jedi in this show makes the Prequel Jedi Order seem like literal saints, and that Order was anything but Saints.
Taking in force sensitive children to teach them control and restraint otherwise left unguided they could be dangerous, using their power blindly
Disney has been ripping up cannon rules from the original 6 movie and the old republic 😅@Alteori
@@ThePopcultureman I’m sorry, but that’s kinda stupid. Yoda, who would have been in his 700s at this time, is established as not changing much of anything about the Jedi in his very long term on the council. So why would something so basic be unestablished right before it becomes an issue in Episode I? That would be horrible world building.
A survey team maybe but those wouldn't have Jedi with them. If the planet in question wasn't part of the republic at large they would have 0 jurisdiction.
The entire show, let alone this episode is a complete farce made by someone who knew Nothing. That is all, and it truly deserves no attention from the fanbase, as it's just 'legends' material.
