The Godfather was a gift of a gimmick. It didn't require a ton of talent and he likely made great money in that role. That being said he could have made way more out of the Goodfather gimmick than he did. Not to mention the WWE always had new gimmicks for him, he should have sucked it up.

I went from watchin a few vids of Stevie and blue meanie to watching every single goddamn interview and podcast this man has done. Right to censor had HEAT. I wish they had those storylines they mention here.
But damn this feels very intimate. Dude tells everything he knows and experienced in this industry. I feel like I can relate in a way, having been in music and art for 14 years. Just the bull and drama that comes with meetin all these people that you maybe used to think were cool dudes. And sometimes the shit they give you isn’t your fault.
Everything is strange behind the scenes.

You got to wonder what the ratio is of how many wrestlers Vince was able to "make" with good gimmicks etc vs how many whose career he wrecked with absurd, never going to work, gimmicks. He had a golden patch in the 80s and late 90s, but the last 15-20 years Vinces creativity went to shite.

I knew Stevie was an ultimate heel at this point, because I played Sd 2 KYR before I ever saw any wrestling, and of all the characters, his picture on the selection screen alone made me always want to pick him to beat. Drew heat with me right from the start xD

Even from back in the KC days, Stevie has always seemed like a great guy. So many guys seem to be primadonnas and little divas and pick on the little guy.
RTC was great, Kronik with Stevie could have also been great had they not shit the bed in the ring.
It would not amazing if Stevie could build his profile and eventually get some recognition from the wider industry. RTC were one of the biggest acts at WWF’s peak, it was short but I wouldn’t rule out a HoF.

That is just crazy. 31 years in the wrestling business, but was never one of the boys. Just like i tell people at my work place, highschool never ends. You still have different groups of people in the work place and it can be just like highschool was. It looks The Godfather takes responsibility on how he treated Stevie, but doesn't want to apologize for how he treated him. That is so sad.

What a lot of you are missing is...this was wrestling in the 90s. A decade before, it was territories and cutthroat that way before Vince took over the entire industry. We've seen enough stories and interviews in the past couple decades to know how much it's evolved in a short time. It isn't pretty, but if that was your craft and you loved it, you were a certain breed. All these stories about bullies and real life hatred, it was what it was and that was the status quo. You can't look at it through 2024 kayfabe exposed eyes and nitpick stuff from people who literally are in a business that is unlike any other in entertainment. Its uniqueness was the fascination, and all the stories that ended much worse than getting some heat for being the fictional head of what Charles Wright hated can be tragic, but it made pro wrestling what it was and is. It has evolved in this day and age to the point where it's much more acting oriented and accepted, but the shady history will always be a part of it. It's one instance where you can't really compare eras, because so much has changed.

The Right to Censor in hindsight was a very clever move from the WWE, hated them when I was young (as we all did) you look on it with different eyes when you’re older - they allowed WWE to keep pushing their more edgier programming - with an out for the company to not go too far with the tv Networks - this subsequently created a heat vacuum for a group off the back of that - it was more clever than we thought at the time - and Stevie really nailed his role 👏 👏

I was a pro wrestler in indies for a couple of years. For the training, talent, and experience I had, I was very good in the ring. Fans loved me (babyface, but also did moves they loved and they liked my style), and promoters liked my stuff. I loved wrestling and it is all I wanted to do since I was a kid. But one of the reasons I left was the culture. It wasn't anywhere near as bad as the WWF/WCW type culture with drugs or whatever, but I was a different person than the rest of them and did NOT fit in. They were like frat boys and I was more of an adult, sinply put. I understand Stevie's thing here. I never belonged in the culture because it wasn't just guys doing what they loved. It was childish stupid stuff. I was married and about to be a first time father. I LOVED being a wrestler in the ring, but otherwise, I did not fit in.

When you're a better person than everyone in the crowd, not fitting in is the best thing you can do. There's absolutely no shame in doing what's right as a man even if it gets you heat with the boys. It's somewhat paradoxical in a way because I feel like Stevie was good for the industry but maybe the industry wasn't so good for Stevie.
