Thank you for bringing up the possible chemicals found inside light bulb tubes. Dust and respiratory dangers are often overlooked in regards to worker safety.
Not the subject of the video, but it doesn't get said enough. Stevie's performance as Steven Richards, Head of the Right-to-Censor, was so outstanding. By far, my favorite version of him. He displayed incredible charisma in that role while playing this character who despised charismatic things. I know the RTC was originally created to mock the Parents Television Council, but WWE should have continued the RTC story even after WWE-PTC settlement and evolved it beyond its original inspiration. Even after the rest of the group inevitably turned on SR & returned to their former lives, that character still had so much more potential to explore & expand upon, largely due to Richards' awesome portayal.
I just was watching that Raven/Rhyno match from Backlash 01 a few days ago. The gore into the shopping kart was crazy, I’m sure he was scraped but he could have knocked himself loopy going through the lifting part of the kart, then possibly again if he hit the front of the kart into the buckle. Crazy spot!
Stevie ur a really good person n down to earth ur attitude is AWESOME very nice n respectful Thank You for this video n all the other ones n the ones to come keep up the good work THANK YOU STEVIE
@@brettkihlmire573 Yeah, I imagine there's some damage, but I just wonder if there's ever any real scorching. I was reading a book about The Sheik, who used to throw fire a lot, and they'd fake "burns" on his opponents by a little scrubbing with sandpaper... but I imagine it could legit leave a bit of a mark if it hit right.
Hey Stevie is talking about our local guys here in Southeast Louisiana! PJ Hawx and Luke Hawx. I've been to several Wildkat shows this year. Met Mick Foley at one of them. Really good indy promotion. Doesnt get enough credit
Ive really enjoyed the new show! I loved the wrestling analysis but this is great too. Stevie just has such an amicable personality and a great wrestling IQ
When I was an idiot teenager doing backyard wrestling, I got hit with some of these and I specifically remember a cookie sheet to the head hurting like hell. Taking a bump on a ladder also sucks really bad. Taking a light tube across the back doesn't that hurt much, but there's also the potential for something to terribly wrong with that. One guy took a headshot with an ironing board that pretty much wrapped around his head and that looked like it hurt a lot.
Hockey stick... Having lived most of my life in Detroit I still remember when Wilf Paiement broke Dennis Polonich's nose with a two handed swing with a hockey stick. Of course, that stick wasn't gimmicked, and was swung with full malice. Polonich was 5'6", Paiement was 6'1".
I have stepped barefoot on a single thumbtack and man was that unpleasant. It also gave me the utmost respect for anyone who will do a thumbtack spot. The worst part wasn't even stepping on it, it was pulling it out afterward...
Mentioning lightbulbs, that is INSANE that people do that, and I have seen documentaries where wrestlers have been hospitalized and nearly DIED due to a spot with lightbulbs going wrong. This was on the independent circuit of course. Some of these guys had just too much love for ECW and did honestly suicidal things. Much as I love ECW and Mick Foley, I can't help but think people took the wrong lessons from his putting himself through all that.
Kendo sticks are such a pet peeve of mine. I get having them when there's a match on the card that is sold as a weapons match, because I can buy that the company is putting actual weapons under the ring for maximum damage, but when the only extreme match is, say, a ladder match, what are kendo sticks doing under a wrestling ring? Why no golf clubs and tennis rackets too? I get that they're great to look at, but after a while they become immersion breaking to me.
I have never been a fan of him but this Podcast is very interesting. Not that I thought he was bad I used didn't get his gimmick outside of RTC...the other stuff he was just a wrestler with no gimmick
Stuff like this is why i get pissed when people say wrestling "doesn't hurt". Yes its scripted and protecting your opponent is essential, but its a wall of pain a lot of the time tbh.
one thing people seem to forget when asking about which weapon hurts that Stevie Richards is one of the last ECW guys he has taken most or wrestled who has taken them
I remember in another video Stevie said he was luck that Abyss was there to force him to take the bump on the thumbtacks because his survival instinct would not let him do it himself.
Great one. I just wish gusset plates and lighttubes would had been on the list. :) By the way, when it comes to thumbtacks i partially remember a funny story. An actual wrestler (Matthew Justice maybe or someone else) had put on different boots in one match, which had a thinner sole. So the match was running and at some point thumbtacks were used. Since his boots had a thinner sole the thumbtacks went all through the sole and so he had to work through the match with a lot of pain in his feet. :)
It would ve awesome if you got Sandman on here to rank the same weapons because on his Podcast he acts like chair shots to the head don't hurt that much😂 The man is just built different lmao
HHH's sledgehammer always looks crappy. Of course he can't swing it, so he uses it as a ram. That is like bringing a machinegun, to hit someone with the buttstock. it is just stupid. He can't really do anything with it. Btw: the "steel" ring steps are also made from Stevies favourite metal aluminium. There seem to be reinforcments crosswelded in, so they are sturdy, and probably heavy, but it is not steel.
One of the best weapons in an actual fight is a lighter in your fist and yet I never see people do it. Try it! Anyone can do with their hands to sell it too. Instead we gotta have a cookie sheet and a stop sign. 😩
A few wrestlers befriended him after that short speech he gave and gave him opportunities. Something I’ll always find funny about that clip is that Cornette said he thought the dude was going to 🔫 up the place from how passionate he was.
Fluorescent light tube: I'd say D. I once had one fall on my forehead, and I barely felt it. Still, you definitely want to clean up a there's glass and some kind of powder in there.
Your ring psychology is great and your mind along with your athleticism would have gotten you a harder push anywhere but wwe, I personally think if aew came along sooner we could have got you maybe a bigger push. Love u man
Nice topic! BTW, do wrestling fans in other countries really think all trash cans are made of aluminum in the US? That's pretty funny. I have never seen one in the wild. My parents had a can in that style for decades that probably weighed 40 pounds with the lid.
I heard a story about a kendo stick shot from Sandman. Sandman had a match with Perry Saturn, and before the match, Saturn told him, "You can hit me here, here, here, across the back. Do not hit me in the face, in the arms, or here, here, here." Well, during the match, Sandman hits Saturn right in the face. Saturn no sells it and gives Sandman a look. Saturn then takes down Sandman and starts pounding him in the face while shouting "RECEIPT! RECEIPT! RECEIPT!"
I have been really enjoying these podcasts. I have to admit at first I thought Stevie was bit of a self righteous holier than tho type of person from pervious shoot interviews i seen. A friend pointed out it wasn't Stevie i saw by Gregory Helms. I feel like an idiot. Steve seems like a stand up person who just wants to share his knowledge on the wrestling business. You can tell hes having a blast doing so.
Argon is an inert nobel gas fellas.... not scary lol. Light tubes are still stupid... but google the chemistry on this one... it is more abundant than water vapor in our atmosphere...
It really does. If done right, it only hurts like a motherfucker, but the damage is merely superficial. If not careful, it still hurts like a motherfucker, but it can tear your flesh open like nothing.
Belt shots have always looked unconvincing to me. I figured - it's just a belt with some thin metal decorations, how dangerous can it be? I guess I was wrong.
What about salt/powder to the eyes? I always thought that looks like a good visu presumed It was safe. Always curious if there’s anything dangers with it. Please rate this on your next video. Thanks
Plastic Chair shots are the worst!!! I've had steel chairs thrown at my head, been put through tables, kendo sticks broken on my head, and whatnot, but for some reason plastic chairs have always hurt the most. They are not flat and even, so it's like you are always getting hit with the lip and if it does make relatively flat contact it's like a giant chop/slap to the back that stings like hell! 👊

That's one hell of an underrated match. They must have gone over that particular spot a thousand times to make sure they got it right.
