Rush Hour Trains at: Bletchley, WCML, 17/03/22

- A very entertaining evening spent at Bletchley on the West Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northwestern Railway, Avanti West Coast and freight from Royal Mail, GBRF, Freightliner and DB Cargo UK.
Bletchley was built in 1846 by the London and Birmingham Railway once the line was completed from London Euston to Denbigh Hall which was located roughly 1 mile north of Bletchley station. This was at first considered a major station due to the fact that Milton Keynes hadn't been built let alone even thought of yet. Once Milton Keynes had been constructed the importance of Bletchley really fell away especially when the East - West route had been downgraded. This isn't to be confused with the new East - West rail link that is currently being constructed from Oxford to Cambridge. Milton Keynes railway station was given intercity importance in 1982.

Camped by the side of the WCML one mile south of Bletchley for two weeks in August 1960 visiting Bicester, Bedford and Sandy , great memories.

the class 230 is a London Underground D stock from the District line and was turned into whatever that is right there
I have so many fond memories of Bletchley Station... and to this day I still remember taking a ride on the old class 310 slam door trains up to Milton Keynes Central Station lol. Loved every minute of your video here.. thanks for bringing a smile to me as always.

Brilliant video Jarred. Plenty of traffic throughput and as I've said before, Bletchley never disappoints. Especially with all the freight that passes through. And you even got to record the Vivarail trains this time around.
The Class 230 in London Northwestern Railway livery is probably the best ones I have ever seen. And sad that they are replacing the Class 319 and Class 350/2 Desiro that is being replaced by the Class 730. Which are coming into service from later this year.
I wonder if the 350/2s will go to ScotRail

I don’t know if there’s anything you can do about it but I just thought I’d tell you incase you didn’t know. Really looking forward to rugby, your last video there was fantastic!
As you say it’ll be interesting to see how passenger number at Bletchley will change with the new station, and how many of those passengers will be making a connect one stop to MKC to board an Avanti/Long distance service.

Another very entertaining video! I believe that the Daventry working from Dollands Moor featured here was with Evian bottled water from France. I assume a different loco worked the service from France through the Channel Tunnel (Euro Tunnel) before the class 66 took over from there. Just looking at one of the comments in the description box with Southern cutting their service back, I can see the likes of Milton Keynes Central, Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, Cheddington and Tring etc. perhaps being done soon... well I say I can see but it would be a shame to see Southern not feature on as many of the Rush Hour films this year! Nice to see the 230's feature though in this film it must be said, which are basically former London Underground District Line stock converted from third rail power to diesel power. The 150 operation ceased on the Marston Vale line first before the 153 operation followed on from that. I must say that the 230's are nice subs for the old stock! Yes it would be a shame to see the 221's go! Their replacements are going to be 805 and 807 bi-mode units with no tilting mechanisms, so they'll join the 390's obviously! We may see some interesting overall stock for Avanti West Coast on the West Coast Mainline in the future! Tilting trains and non-tilting trains! What would that do for overall speed between the 805's/807's and the 390's? We'll have to find out I guess!
